  • oh! what a sexy voice!

  • @OhSleeperAwake Thank you for watching the video, OSA. Your videos are most enjoyable, too! Do you make the flutes?

  • Viewer dirosaga posted a question here and as I was responding, I either hit the trash can icon or there was a glitch when I was trying to post. My apologies. Here's dirosaga's question and my response:

dirosaga: Forgive my frankness, but are you Indigenous to america?

Answer: It depends on whether you consider Kentucky indigenous to America! It is and I am, at least, in close proximity! If you were referring to my ethnicity, I am not Native American, as you will find in my first video.

  • @KentuckyShaman I ran out of room in the previous post. Here's the rest:

I learned Native American ways, though, from dear teachers, and incorporated them into the Celtic traditions I had previously studied.

    Thanks for your question!

  • My grandfather made earth drums.

My father, was a stubborn man, & didn't pay attention to the wise one.

I didn't learn to make a drum, but, I sure enjoy playing the one that was made for me!

  • @Owldmedicine Now the son has become the wise one! May your sons and daughters know this. You honor the path and the drums.

  • @msrainbowdance Delighted to hear from you again, msrainbowdance. I go into detail about this concept on a recent podcast, which you can listen to here: Shaman Drums 2.0 Podcast and Blog (It appears YouTube will not allow me to post a direct link, so all I can give you is the name. )

I hope the referenced podcast will help give you some ideas about exploring for different ways of connecting with All That Is.

Best to you and yours, and thank you again for writing..

  • Actually, Romanorum, shamanism is not "owned" by any one culture, as it originated in Siberia then spread around the world before there were any people in America. When people arrived here, they brought shamanism with them, as did others in most every culture that's existed since that time, including Europeans, African, Asian, etc. I know, too, that you do not speak for all Native Americans, as many NA teachers encourage their students to be public in order to be of service to all peoples.

  • @KentuckyShaman

"(replying to Romanorum) I know too that you do not not speak for all Native Americans, as many NA teachers encourage their student to be public in order to service to all peoples.."

Which NA teachers? From reports from many anthropologists many NA are quite conservative. From my personal experience I find that its true also.

  • @1NX9 Thanks for sharing your opinion, 1NX9. Out of respect for them, I will let the teachers speak for themselves if they wish to. I have found that some recognize a dilemma--either encourage open sharing of what is known, or hold it back and allow mis-perceptions to spread. It is obvious that some prefer the former, others the latter.

  • @KentuckyShaman

I dont know which some teachers you keep refering too???

Regardless. Sharing what they know will not stop misconceptions (let alone cultural & historic revisionists) from spreading false information. Thats where the issue of indigenious copyrights and cultural intellectual property protection comes in. Currently its still being worked out within the governement and between various governments.

  • More way for people to profit from our medicine. =/

No true Native American Medicine Man/Shaman I know of actually calls themselves as such also, it's a humble and shameful path.

This will only put more plastic shamans out there. :(

  • yes, we are one with the earth and sky... we are ONE... but sometimes we forget it...
