They made it simplistic so any idiot can play the drums, & not for an actual drummer this was why Neil quit play as he was disgusted.
@newmannow They don't show it, but it seems the kit's stand collapsed on him. You hear him say "Oh...!" just as he quits playing, and then the camera comes back to him just as he's pulling it back up into position. I can't imagine how tough it would be to play with just 3 pads and a kick when he's used to so much more, but he was doing well up to that point and actually seemed to be enjoying it too. Certainly much less intense an expression on his face here than when playing his own kit. :)

With the amount of time some kids put into useless guitar hero/rock band they could have easily developed some solid musical skills. Music skills carry over into adulthood, whereas the simple motor skills and rudimentary hand/eye coordination developed from playing rock band has no practical application whatsoever--aside from playing more rock band. They should synchronize the games with chord shapes on the fret board so the hardcore players will at least have something to show for their effort

@ritter89 Guitar Hero/Rock Band was made to inspire kids to pick up real instruments. I was addicted to it 3 years ago, and now I'm addicted to my guitar because of it. It's a KIDS game, to help them discover music and make them want to pick up a real instrument later in life, like it did for me. There's nothing "useless" about that.
I'm not surprised that they weren't doing too well at this. Being a musician myself, I can tell you that playing a game like that is WAY WAY different and alien to you compared to playing a real instrument. I play guitar, bass and drums and I couldn't do any of them well at all with that game.

@yolchie When you're used to playing within a 32nd note accuracy of music and then have to deal with the delay of electronic transmission. It makes you have to play on the backside of the beat to be accurate. It's frustrating for drummers who know what they're doing and told they suck by a game. Neil..case in point.

My best friend is a HUGE rush fan, and plays a lot of rush on the drums (real drums) and one time we were playing this on rockband together and he just stops and goes "No one they couldn't F'n get this, the drum part is F'ed up!" we haven't played any Rush on rockband since.

My best friend is a HUGE rush fan, and plays a lot of rush on the drums (real drums) and one time we were playing this on rockband together and he just stops and goes "No one they couldn't F'n get this, the drum part is F'ed up!" we haven't played any Rush on rockband since.

Atleast Rock Band 3 is trying to get it right by using a real fender. But it is what it is, and it's a videogame, not real life.

@Logan912 Point taken, I guess this new on isn't as bad as just 4 buttons. Still, I prefer to plug in a real guitar and play on a backing track with no video :)
