  • Also, I can't believe Kara and Will and the group didn't set up a watch. Will could've taken Cannibals down.

  • Will needs to lay of the shroom drops

  • My mom was a pig, and my dad... was a flute.

  • @Skavoc This one time at band camp...

  • Jesus Pig died for your sins. We eat bacon to remember this sacrifice. This delicious hickory smoked sacrifice.

  • @feyerbrandx I particularly like the line Erik had:

To eat or not to eat?

  • 8:25 "what's trying to destroy the world?"

    The comet.

  • Hamlet's sacrifice is based on a Buddhist parable (The Hare's Self-Sacrifice) about a rabbit who wants to fulfill his obligation to show hospitality to a holy man. The rabbit has no food suitable to feed to a human except himself, so he decides to throw himself onto a fire for the holy man to eat.

  • "What's wrong with grieving for his parents death?" Good question. There wouldn't be anything wrong with it if the game was translated better.

  • I think the creative developer took one too many drugs for this one.

  • if i am the cannibals, i would take the pig as an appetizer....the 3 kids will be the main course.....

  • So....Nobody wonders how Neil even figured out how the pig was Kara's friend? I mean, it's not like the pig talked and told him.

    Lol, I get it. "Ham"let.

  • WHAT WRONG WITH YOU!? LOL 6:40

  • UNBELIEVEABLE! The Pig sacraficed itself, the ghost of Kara's mother comes out of the pig...okat wtf??? The plot! the plot! It's to much!! On a side note: Poor Hamelin.

  • i love illusion of gaia so much, but it really is a crap game

  • I think this game has multple Personality Dishorder....

  • I guess the game doesn't tell you the answers until the end. Kind of like in the game, Alan Wake only not as bad as this game as far as plot goes.

  • the fuck?!? the pig just jumps in the fire, burns and then turns into a ghost..(sacrificing himself to save those guys) you're right, who rights this crap?!

  • Warning:This game has so little plot it will drive you insane.Play at your own risk.

  • "My mom was a pig and my dad was a flute!"

That is, bar none, the best line in this LP. It sounds like something from Monty Python.

  • Oh bailly all you need to know is that the plot is no plot, just like bloodrayne 2

  • What the hell is wrong with this game?! This is so messed up!!

  • Its funny how they go after the people first and not the pig

  • HAMLET!!!

  • wow the pig just died and erik is being a jerk with shakespere references...

no actually that's probably what i would have said to

  • one little piggy wouldn't last the day. they would just eat will and kara anyway >_>

  • Hello Clarice...

You've also got to remember that some of the plot logic is based on the Japanese mindset, customs, traditions, etc. So not everything is going to make sense to us Westerners.

"When you're President, you can't make decisions." - Spaceballs

"They seem to be very hungry" - and there's not even an Enertron around to not change that...

Erik: "Poor Hamlet - To Eat or Not to Eat?"- nice Shakepeare reference, game.

  • @SchlossRitter ah but youre still hungry even if you use an enertron :D

  • @MrXintron yeah but they can kill animals, then go back in time and kill the same animals again until they have enough food

  • @MrXintron sorry thought you were making a reference to Chrono Trigger

  • @handofstand lol i was, nice catch.

  • that sad music is sad. I played it when we had to bury our cat, She-Bop (yes, after the '80s Cyndi Lauper song). Then I played FFV's Sorrows of Parting when we had to bury our last cat, Mariah. (I, of course, used the track as well in my Ode To Our Cat, Mariah vid)

  • 8:00 you OK dude?

  • 5:15 spin+charge=sparge.........lol nice video

  • Pfft, names out of a hat, so not how they did it. It was actually a dartboard, with post-its with the ancient temple names on the sides. Whoever sucks the least and actually hits a name, that's what they go with. ;)

  • I was seriously falling out of my chair when Hamlet did that. LMAO!!!

  • ramapoe La-li ho!

  • To eat or not to eat

Get it becasue the pigs name is Hamlet

  • So the pig became a ghost and floated off. It's almost like the swine flew.

  • Oh god, I felt that in my liver. D:

  • @NintendoCapriSun YEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

  • @NintendoCapriSun The best kind of bacon is the kind that saves your bacon?

  • Ankor Wat, the place that pissed me off so much that I stopped playing the game. I can't remember anything past walking in, and I never made it out.....*insert ominous music here*

  • Well the pig as the mother and the flute as a father isn't worst than in secret of mana with the father as the sword and the mother as a tree aside that secret of mana made more sense because they explained the things at least a little

  • 4:00 - Either that or they rolled twenty-siders.

  • Im sorry, but I laughed at Hamlet. I mean really, we dont see him since the beginning of the game, he suddenly pops out of nowhere, and three minutes later, he jumps into the fire. I, personally, find that hilarious. On a side note, I'm betting that Animals Rights Group or whatever would be pissed at this. ^^

  • wait, they actually killed the baby pig? :O My jaw dropped. Wow, game. Wow.

HC, your anger made my life <3

  • to eat or not to eat

    love the hamlet refrence

  • And the story takes a strange turn...

  • I remember playing this game as a kid...that part where the pig died made me cry. Oddly enough, in my memory the tribesmen threw the pig on the fire and ate it while they sat tied up watching. Funny how memories can fool you. Still sad.

  • 7:30 ...

Why one must love the HC so whole-heartedly

  • How is one little pig going to feed these people better than three people?

  • what wouldve happened if you talked to the pig in the fire?

  • Will is JUSSSST right . lol

  • HCBailey, are you sure that Illusion of Gaia makes more sense that Soul Blazer, because I'm starting to think otherwise.

  • Ankor Wat is a temple thing somewhere out in the archipelago between Vietnam and Australia. Not sure what country specifically.

  • Angkor Wat is in Cambodia. :)

  • right, duh

  • 7:39 - The same brilliant minds that brought us Soul Blazer and Terranigma. That's who.

  • Yeah... didn't watch the entire video before I commented..... :P

  • Why does this sound that is there where these tribe guys go into the hut sounds just wrong for me?

  • You must be strong HCBailly (and all who feel the same like him).

This game will be more and more mad, but it's

    really worth.

  • Hahahaha. I forgot about that scene where Hamlet commits Hamicide. Get it? Ham-icide. Cause he's a pig! Thank you, thank you very much.

  • I like how Will and Kara are distraught by Hamlet jumping into the fire, but Erik just ruins the mood by quoting "Hamlet"...

Not the right time, Erik, not the right time...

  • i love the instant golden brown pig

  • To eat, or not to eat. *FACEPALM IRL*

  • ham...Hamlet

  • HC, I'm expecting an epic reaction of pure insanity at the end of this next dungeon to top this reaction. You just set the bar real high here :P

  • For some reason it's disturbing me that you complain about Illusion of Gaia's plot, but not the Star Wars plot.

Apparently Star Wars was written with more common sense then IoG, or what?

    I don't get it.

  • ha i hope you mean episodes 1-3

  • Err..

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, does any Star Wars episode make more (common) sense then any other?

  • thats a solid point...

  • hamlet not omg hamelt T_T ...

  • This really is one of the weirdest games ever, what a scrambled plot. I love your crazy reaction HC, u could do a AVGN review :P.

  • Wow, what a crazy twist.

  • Oh Hamlet your sacrifice was delicious...

  • I actually felt bad for the pig :(

  • I almost cried the first time I saw Hamlet jump in the fire back when I first played this, I didn't even care about the rest.

Now I'm even more confused about the game than I was before. lol

  • In one of the first vids of this LP, I predicted HC would go completely apeshit at the Tower of Babel. Well, looks like I lost the bet...

  • Will's mom came out of the pig and everyone just flew back like putting your finger with detergent into the water surface full of pepper,

Will just goes on with corny remarks regarding to eat or not to eat Hamlet.

  • Wow... this game just makes no sense at all anymore. Thank god I never played this game this far. It's just... wow....

  • LMAOOO wow that plot is criss crossed.

  • (sounding like Janice from Friends) OH-MY-GOD! XDDD NOOO HAMLET! That was... that was a bit too harsh for children to watch u.u' Great LP HCB!

  • Now, we all know about Deus ex Machina..but this is like some sadistic twist on it..unbelievable..just plain unbelievable. Just trying to analyze this is seriously making my head hurt..the plot just jumped the rails and fell into a gorge. Seriously, this is the kind of writing that makes me headdesk and/or throw a book across the room. Their attempt to invoke pathos during these scenes is..just plain awful.

    Carnitas, por favor.

  • 6:40 =O

  • LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

    @ 8:30, duder's all exhausted hahahaha

  • I think my brain just broke.

  • Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet Prince.

And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

  • HAHA! The pigs name is hamlet, and Will said, "To eat or not to eat..."

  • Is it me, or is HCBailly cursing more recently?

  • Will's mom is a pig and his father is a flute? That's still nothing compared to Randi, the protagonist from Secret of Mana, who...MAJOR SPOILERS!!!!

Also had a father as his main weapon (although in that case it was a sword rather than a flute) but who had a mother who was a tree. That's right, a frickin' tree. And not just any tree, but supposedly...well, God (or rather, Goddess). Maybe you could call it the female equivalent of Yggrdrasil or something. More fucked up, indeed.

  • Man, I just want you to know that sometimes I'm feeling down, but really, watching these LP's of yours just really cheers me up. I really look forward to the episodes each day, and commenting on them. They really do mean a lot to me, and have been part of my daily routine since like August 2008. Keep up the great work!

  • From 7:10 to 8:30. I was laughing so hard, lol!!

  • Gaia used to piss me off too. Never finished it. ;['

  • i forgot to mention in my last comment, i would've loved to see HC's face during this episode. ^_^

    that would've been priceless

  • You should've seen my face. I mean, holy crap! What were the writers smoking?!

  • I like to think that this is the video game version of a terrible fan fiction one of the staff found. It even has first person narration!

  • I thought yesterday's FFV was the funniest LP episode you've done, but you might have already beaten it with this one. "Who writes this shit!?"

  • My lord this game is just... insane. If the friggin pig was smart enough to know he could sacrifice himself to save Kara, he should have been also smart enough to just knock the natives down so the party could escape.

And lol, Hamlet lived up to his name and became another tragedy.

  • this is one of the funniest moments in any of your lets plays, so i'm posting a clip of it on my channel, i'll put a link to the original though lol

  • lulz

  • When I was young, the pig's action made me sad. Years later it was so random I laughed. Now when I see it, I can only think of bacon.

  • Did Erik actually say "To eat or not to eat?" at 6:54? What is wrong with this game?

Oh and on a side note; OMM NOM NOM! Pork!

  • PERFECT for the ending of the video, dude.

I still feel pretty bad for Hamlet, though 8|

  • LMAO WHO LIKES THIS SH!T XD

  • cambodia is a country that apparently likes having holidays *we invade them to get to vietnam but who cares theres a holiday in cambodia*

  • i would not be surprised if the hat thing were true.

  • This game really shows why you should never abuse "Convenient Plot Device"

like... really? Then again, at least we see Will's Parents in this game... a plus? ?????

  • the story is one of the most messed up thing ive ever seen in a video game.

second to the transvestite in enchanted arms.

  • This game has some of the dumbest plot devices. "Oh no, our purple-haired friend fell in the water and got eaten by a fish, and a few hours later we find out he IS the fish. He also knows morse code and can somehow locate our position in an underground tunnel. Next the heroine's pet pig shows up out of nowhere, only to sacrifice himself 2 minutes later."

it's only a game, right? haha

  • So much for Will's psycho power, beat up by starved cambodians.

  • Gotta love Eric's 'To eat or not to eat' line... probably the funniest line in the entire game.

  • "It's not exactly northeast"

    hahhaha...

  • I never knew those old men tell you that about the Teapot. Somehow I just figured out that you had to use it on Neil's parents. That part is just weird... why were they part of the Moon Tribe? They died and the Moon Tribe took over their bodies or something for some unknown reason?

I think Will's comment was supposed to be "I'm ashamed of myself after hearing you talk this way" or something... considering he just "killed" Neil's parents, maybe he regretted it.

  • You'd think that the cannibles would immediatly go for the pig. "hmm...human flesh, or bacon, also known as the most perfect form of meat on the planet. Let's go with human flesh."

As for the rest of this episode-no this game, my brain has exploded.

  • And do you know what the sad part is? You could take out the whole teapot quest out of the game and it wouldn't affect it at all. Making that event entirely pointless...

  • I think the point was to get Neil out of your party. How that segues into visiting a tropical village of cannibals, I don't know. Maybe it makes sense when you're abusing the substances that the IoG design team did before making this game...

  • This game is like that cute girl who grows on you but when you're with your friends you can't help but make fun of her.

  • Faved.

@7:32 *To the AVGN song* "He´s the angriest gamer you have heard!

He´s the angry videogame uh... HCBailly"

Sorry, I couldn´t help but referencing that, so is this the less logical game you ever played? There have been others that I´ve played with less common sense, but I cannot think of any right now, blame that pig.

  • A pig that we saw for about 5 min. beforehand just doesn't do it for me like Galuf or Celes' suicide.

  • i love this game. when a character tries to sacrifice there self for the good of others it makes a joke by quoting Shakespeer.

  • This is one of the funniest videos you've ever made.

  • I chuckled at the to eat or not to eat comment by Will.

  • I did the same :D

  • Hehe, hilarious episode HC, i for one can take a joke and it was kinda obvious that it was one, keep at it :D

  • HC: "So let me get this straight..."

    My immediate response: "OH GOD."

The rant was kinda... Well, you actually have a point. I laughed, I cried, I died a little inside. Good episode, HC.

  • ok hcbaily i thought games form this era were supposed to be family friendly but a suicidal pig isnt very family friendly

  • lol i see you had a lot of fun with this episode.

i didn't read the description until after watching but the whole way through i could tell that you weren't serious. plus if you thought this game suck then why would you be do a lets play of it. think about that people

  • I love the fact that the pig conveniently meets up with you guys before you even go to the next village to only be eaten a second later.

  • Logic Train...

*Logic train passes by without slowing down*

Sorry HC, I guess there is no logic to this game...

  • LMAO WHo writes this shit.

    flute is the dad

the pig is the dad somehow your human youd think youd be more of a pig flute

  • When I played this in 1995 there was the LOST CIVILIZATIONS series on TV hosted by Sam Waterston. I eagerly anticipated Angkor Wat, but that ended up being the only society from this game the TV series didn't cover. (They did Atlantis, which is kind of like Mu.)

  • Your father was a flute and your mother smelt of bacon!

  • First time I had heard of Angkor Wat was from this game. I guess it didn't realize it was based on a real place, because when I heard a reference to it in real life, I was like "Ohhh....so THAT'S what the Illusion of Gaia dungeon was based on."

  • Starving Cambodians? Well, you don't like people having "serious" discussions in the comments section, so

    *Must avoid Khmer Rouge references....*

  • As insane as this game is, it is also an extremely sad and dark game for the SNES, dealing with real-life problems in the world and making very little attempt to actually sugarcoat things. It can often get very unsettling. Terranigma is kind of similar in that regard as well, although if I remember correctly, it emphasizes fantastic elements over realistic ones a lot more than this game does (although there are still occasional semi-realistic moments as well).

  • WHO WRITES THIS SHIT!?!?!

Exactly what I thought whenever I played that game!

And if they were a pig and flute, how the hell was Will conceived?

It made me snap too just watching it. So Viewers:

    Let's help build the HCBailly-Sanity-Fund.

Cause only you can help to prevent MADNESS!

  • That FF7 tea reference never gets old xD

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!! That line was rich! WHO WRITES THIS SHIT!!? Bailey's new catchphrase.

  • The horror.....the horror........the horror.

  • Have fun in Ankor Wat. It's a doozy. *evil laughter*

  • when you get to ang kor wat, kara says, "it's as hot as the tropics." and i say, "BUT YOU BARELY CHANGED LATITUDE ON THE MAP!!!!!" wouldn't Euro have been just as hot?

  • Geography? Illusion of Gaia knows nothing of geography!

  • That's why it's an illusion.

  • Illusion of Gaia makes many a gamer go mad. HC is proof of this. Hysterical LP, HC!

  • And I thought the plot made no sense already... that just pushed the line too far and now I can't believe any more of this game will make sense at all.

  • O_O it's official. ilusion of Gaia has caused HC to snap. and it was hilarious. :)

  • It was only a matter of time.

  • its easy HC....How Neil is going to stop it all....Neil is going to become.....

BATMAN!!! :P....hey it fits.....you know it..I know..and The Joker knows it too...

  • lmao, HC I think you're gonna have a mental breakdown.

  • I thought perhaps a more appropriate title for this episode may have been "Silence of the Hams".

  • I was thinking that too, but then the epic (not sarcasm) plot twist would be spoiled.

  • yeah, this and soul blazer tends to make people lose their sanity pretty quickly....

  • "When your a president you can't make decisions" Was that a Spaceballs refrence?

  • hamlet. NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. he was the gretest chawector evar.

  • Just... wow.

    Plot...

  • and there goes HCBally's sanity... :)

  • how do the ropes untie themselves after Hamlet throws himself into the fire, and the people would still eat you beacuse a pig would not suffice the whole tribe

  • I don't care about the story it's fine if it doesn't make sense, Hell if we played games for story would anyone really play mario brothers

  • This game is awesome. And in need of a new translation so it makes some sense. I bet alot was lost in translation.

  • According to this game, I think it's in Croatia or something.

  • i can't believe you said nothing about Eric saying "to eat or not to eat"

  • I'm surprised that he didn't make a Lord of the Flies reference.

  • I think what Will was trying to say was he was ashamed of himself for hurting Neil.

Also, about the flute being the father and the pig being the mother. That makes perfect sense! I mean the flute is a rod like object and pig is female...it makes as much sense as anything else in this game.

  • I liked the story of this game. : /

I'm into some weird stories though. I think Boku no Pico and Sonic 2006 had the best stories in all of fiction. : /

  • sonic 06....SONIC 06!!!!!. WHAT THE FUCK DUDE. everyone remembers it for haveing the most bullshited story EEVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. GOD WHAT ARE YOU SMOKEING..... alright now that my fanboy geek out has ended. i didnt care for it but its your oppionion and i respect it. :-)

  • I think this is HCBailly's first Lets Play episode where he dropped the S-bomb.

If I am mistaken, I apologize.

  • Aside from blooper episodes, yes I think this is the first time.

  • Yeah, but he's dropped the F-bomb at least a couple other times before in non-blooper episodes.

  • I find it even more hilarious that the game actually suggests that people would turn to cannibalism during times of famine Especially when in most if not all cultures that DO practice cannibalism, it's a religious practice, not a source of nourishment

  • "WHO WRITES THIS SHIT"

    quote of the year 5/5

  • Probably the funniest episode of this series yet, gj Bailly.

  • The pig just commits martyrdom apparently and then is somehow either Kara's mom reincarnated or just some symbol like a Horcrux? Wtf?
