Besides the only thing that could end the world is the galaxy Andromeda or the sun burning out. But that wont be for billions of years. I thought the characters came up with May 5, 2000 for the pole shift and Earth changes. Guys really need to get on the same page. The Polar Shift does happen, the alignment of the crystals in Iron Ore confirm it, however, those Pole shifts take place at intervals of tens of thousands of years.
I've never encountered a magnet that loses polarity if you tilt it, there may be one, but the Earth is just a standard electromagnet, you could stop the core rotating entirely and the magnetic field would still last a considerable amount of time.
As for mountains slamming together, that's Tectonics, not Magnetism.
