By the way I agree, this hasent got the recognition it deserves. I have finally got it on Cd. It really has an amazing vibe and the technique speaks for itself. I know Clapton is great and was doing some wonderful things also. Stop is a work of art in itself.
@crystalclear999 When Londoners were writing "Clapton is God" on the underground walls, there were a lot of us Americans going, "Maybe, but he ain't Mike Bloomfield."
one of my fav tracks. It still gets me and is just a wonderful piece of music. They played with a lot of heart and soul then. I know some still do. This was Music man in its best sense. Great to hear, brings me back.:)Peace
@larebear2k, right you are, I love each of those guys musically, have most of their cds, seen all of em' live too except Duarte, & even met Chris Cain, but as players but somehow they never astound me and stop me in my tracks musically and creatively the way Bloomfield still does to this day. And I have played some live guitar blues in my day too.. ;)
@cwhanna -everytime I see Duarte he does something that just stops me. And he does it so easily that unless you play guitar it slips by. And I forgot Joanna Connor and Tommy Castro. All those folks, except Duarte, list Bloomfield as a big influence. Mike remains my favorite, but there are just so many excellent guitarist around.
I was just listening to Nick Gravenites and co live at the Fillmore 69(My Labors) on my way to and from work today. Mike's tone and fills are some of the best ever. What a great git man. Lest we forget.
@bobgure Unfortunately my copy of the Shuggie Otis album has disappeared over the years, but there was some pretty amazing playing on there. A bit uneven, as I recall, but most jam albums are.

Nobody plays like this anymore. Will anybody ever play electric blues guitar this fearlessly and passionately again?

this guy is fucking great! why has he been so ignored through the years?
elberberecho 3 years ago 7
He hasn't. What Clapton did on the other side of the Atlantic, Bloomfield did in America. First generation caucasian electric blues guitarists.
Check out "Kooper Session" with Shuggie Otis (age 15) and tell me what you think. :)
