in the danube delta, do only lipovans live there? or do other people of different origins live there. im romanian and i was told that only lipovans have villages in the delta and romanians on live in the city of tulcea. is this true or not?

@KillerPuffin No,it's not true.Lots of Romanians live there,in the past Delta was used by many Romanians for their sheep and cattle.In the Delta there are Lipovans and Ukrainean communities too,in good relation with Romanians and very good speakers of Romanian.Lipovans are good fishermen,they live closer to water,but villages in Tulcea county are mainly Romanian,not only the city Tulcea.Aromanians live there too,but not so close to Delta.

i wanted to know this because the delta is so beautiful and it would be weird if non romanians lived near these waters. i know about the villages of periprava and letea and they are both lipovan villages, are their any romanian villages similar to them or close to them? or are their any romanian fishing villages in the delta. im also asking cause i would like to visit them this summer :D

@KillerPuffin In Delta's specific villages 'on water" live 15000 people,they are 8o%Romanians,10%Lipovans,10%Uk­raineans(2002 census)All of them are very hospitable.Maliuc,Crisan,C.A.R­osetti,Chilia,Murighiol,Sf.Ghe­orghe,Mahmudia etc..Everybody is fishing in Delta region,there are many many options for tourism.I always go there without any reservation and discover new places without any problem of boarding.

1. The comunism was not so bad , they've done , what everyody around the world done : Improve the infrastructure.

2. You'll never see a lipovean fisherman releasing a sturgeon. After comunism , the fishermans start using the electricity for fishing and that is really bad.

@cristinaronson yes, the thing is that if people are willing to pay more for goods made in an environment friendly way, you can do that. this is essentially what al ot of people are doing. communism though is actually impossible to fix in this sense.

Its only part true this info on this video. The Danube Delta is only ruined on ukrainian part by the Ukraine regim with the new Bystroe canal.

Again, it's UKRAINE who destroy the 20% part of Danube Delta, the other 80% part belongs to ROMANIA and that's no other beautiful place in Europe ahead of this.

Why people have a urge need to lie? Danube Delta is declared Natural Monument from 1930 and in Ceausescu's regime too. There are no evidences or even rummors that he intented to drain something in Danube Delta. In Romania had been drained large areas of swamps in the sowth near Danube, swamps only good for moschitos.

Lipovenes are old rite orthodox Russians, and not ethnic Ukrainians. They speak Russian, not Ukrainian. Please, correct your mistake. Lipovenes found shelter from Peter the Great persecutions in the Ottoman Empire, Baltic states and other places in Europe, including Ukraine, Danube Delta.

First thing that should be done is remove all population in the villages in the Delta. Most of the people are 'fishermen' (read poachers or 'braconieri' in romanian). Most of the houses are built ilegally on government land. Both the locals and local enterprises refuse to pay taxes or hide income on a regular basis. A large part of the population is addicted to alcohol.What more do I have to say...
