  • @WiredRM Late reply, but this is a practice for New Year Eve Buddhist temple ceremony( Joya no kane) to hit the gong for 108 times witch is the number of human greediness( or suffer?) . ( By listening to the sounds of gongs in a cold midnight, you are cleansing your sprits and ready for a fresh new year. In general, I think it is a reminder for people to be humble and strive to be a better person in coming year.
