Pele had a better record because he was so lucky to be surrounded by great teams on his back. 1966 it was Garrincha who inspired Brazil to win. 1958 Pele didn't play much and it was on 1970 that Pele played all matches but again he was surrounded by superstars players like Rivelino etc. In the on ther hand, Maradona's team was weaker than Pele's teams. Both are great but Maradona is the most technical player.

Pele scored more goals enough sed and in the end thats what is needed. Maradona like Messi are just phenominal dribblers due to them being small and having a low centre of gravity and their own ability the ball sticks to their boots like glue. Pele was great in every aspect though from vision to passing to headering. His dribbling and control was amazing as well how he seemed to majestically move around the pitch. Also Pele off the pitch was a pure humble person so the perfect player.

People believe Maradona was better because he apparently single handed won the world cup for Argentina and brung success for Napoli. In the world cup Argentina weren't that bad otherwise they would hav conceded a lot of goals and despite Maradona would have lost matches and the same with Napoli. Pele was part of an amazing Brazil squad but if you had put him in that Napoli or Argentina squad you would have had the same result.

What sets Pele ahead of everyone else, including Maradona, is his unbelievable control over the ball: look how he can control and dribble the ball in the tightest and most defended part of the pitch- the opposition's penalty box- and still manage a great finish. To compare anyone to Pele is an insult to Pele. He scored 1284 Goals in only 1375 games at the club level and as an international he scored 77 Goals in only 92 games. And in case anyone didn't know he is the ONLY player to be part of 3 world cup winning squads. There have been other great players like Maradona, Beckenbauer, Cruyff and others. But to compare those players to Pele is football blasphemy.

Pele and maradona were both amazing on the field. The difference was their personalities and lifestyles. Pele was a gentleman in the field and outsid of it. Maradona was a great player but he chose a life with cocaine and trouble.
