First saw 200 Motels in a movie theater when it was released. The air was so thick with herbal smoke that you just had to breath and you would hallucinate. Watching this at the same time was transcendental.

yes, that actually happened just prior to the shooting of 200 motels. Zappa secretly recorded stuff that Jeff said in private and then made him say it in the movie. he got pissed off and quit.

no, it is just beer. see how the kid starts putting his life into the bottle, literally, he opens the bottle and puts all his stuff inside it, he is "living inside the bottle" a.k.a. "an alcoholic" this cartoon has alot of deep metaphors in it. I think Zappa got the idea for this whole video 200 motels by being on the road with crazy dudes who took lsd, and the title refers to all the motels they stayed at, and he got all the crazy ideas from his bandmembers who were all on drugs.
