A Bizarre Collection Of Puzzles by The Enigma is no ordinary book. Abandoning the standard format of numbers 1 to 9, The Enigma has inserted a miscellany of names into the sudoku puzzles. These bizarre grids feature such topics as geography, history, popular music, politics, and sport. You won't have seen anything like this before. Also, the author (a former contestant on Fifteen To One and Countdown) has compiled 300 conundrums and numbers games from Channel Four's popular Countdown show.
@4tt1 A player chooses vowels and consonants until there's 9 letters, then there's a countdown, the 2 players try to work out the longest word they can before the time is up. The length of your word gives that many points, e.g. 9 letter word = 9 points. There's another type of round where you get numbers and a target number. e.g. 50 2 6 25 4 2 goal 998 could be done by 50x2=100 6+4=10 10x100=1000 1000-2=998, You can only use the same letters/numbers once but don't need to use them all.
@countdowngoofs the clock its self not a real one it mentions in countdown Spreading the Word, the clock is a motor and back in 1982 when the set designs where given the task to build it. they said it was cheaper to build a whole clock because to build a half a clock theyd have to put a reverse gear in to the motor to reset it back to zero and they just couldnt be asked.
lol! that must have been scary, i know that if that had happened to me i probably would have said a word consisting of a consonant, a vowel, and two more consonants.
Even I got a fright there!

What's the point of this game anyway? How do they play this? Can someone explain? I'm curious, cause I'm seeing this for the first time yet.

@4tt1 They must make words with the letters. The longest word is the winner.

I wonder if they mess with the letters in between rounds?
chessdude111 2 years ago 113
Between rounds they take the letters off the board and take it to the crew table. So those letters won't be used again
