Loss of steering or not,This SOB had no buisness being this far off course leaving the dock.There were problems with the ship before he left and he knew it,he should be keel hauled.God forbid anyone got hurt or killed.
figures, dredge New York replaced the main engine now they'll need a new hull and spud. its amazing not one crew member was injured or even had to retreat to the water. its a miracle no one was hurt. they are truly blessed.
My father was working up in NY on these dredges for years until recently being moved to another state. He advised me that the steering equipment failed and it was not anyones fault. Hope this makes more sense for everyone.

Was this due to an error on the part of the harbour pilot or a steering equipment failure? Or was the tug on the port stern responsible?
