@ASSHOLELA because after GM and ASC completed the car with out the engine Mclaren racing team built the engine and installed it it's not just a stock 3.1 heat treated with larger head from my research . thanks for the comment
Man... I had two of these at one point: a black '90 that an ex ROLLED and after that I got red '90 that I raced until the motor blew :( I miss them soooooo much!! I'd give about anything to get my hands on one again!
@djsmallz18 hey bro thanks.. i really like all the complements i get at car shows.... i always say everything has a price,, and it could be yours for the right price,,, thanks again
@chinchillawrangler Hey thanks for the comment , i bought this car about 2-3 years ago from a guy in Indianapolis Indiana i flew up there from Louisiana and drove it back here in La. i paid 3,500.00 for it , yea im gona need to change the windshield the car had 75,000 miles when i got it now it has 78,200 miles
@ERIC933G no, the owner before me was a big moterhead and had the timing adjusted and put a ram intake on it. and i just put e3 diamondfire sparkplugs in it.
@2112mike Do your research before you open your mouth, if you knew anything, you would know that GM made this engine for McLaren, and it also made its way into some GM products. Thanks
@Fireinme81207 Umm No sorry you might be wrong about this , My understanding is Gm made this car then 3744 were shipped to ASC Mclaren for them to install the mclaren engine built in the Mclaren shop.
Ah, 188, thats nice. 140 You got. Still you think about it, for the engine size and plus Turbo. Not that much. Compare to a European car GM make, as the Vauxhall Cavalier (not the same Cavalier as the US) has just a 2L Turbo engine. Does 0-60 in 6 standard and goes on to 145 Mph. Standard from a 2L. Also a lot more examples like this.
The Early 90's for us was a Turbo Era. Ford Sierra Cosworth 2L turbo, Renault 21, 2L Turbo, Peugeot T16, 2L turbo.
After 94 to 99 the cars got a little slower because of safety and environment laws. However they got good around 2000 and came up with all sorts of new techniques to have clean engines and wicked performance and good mpg.
Still though my favourite Turbo car has to be the Cavalier Turbo. Lots of links on here of what they can do.
@delboythetoyboy wow you must be a smart cookie, since when is the end of the speedo actually relevant to the car's max speed? LOLOL lets put a speedo on a dragster that ends at 80 and see if it can still do 300 AHAHA
Was pointing out the fact that it only has 120 on the clock and normally if only has that, its not going to go over it if left standard. Unless mister smart arse you have a tail wind of 100 MPH and a 80% downhill road. Otherwise max speed on the speedo is yes irrelevant, just like your comment.
I can't think of many vehicles that the speedo actually reflects what the car can do.... there may be some, but most are either too high (like a geo metro's being 85 when they top out around 75) and most other vehicles can do much more than the speedo says, unless governed like mine......
@TacticalSuperRebel all factory vehicles are limited unless its something ridiculous like a veyron my grand prix is limited to 110 and i think my mustang is limited around 140. If a car is from the factory and the governor hasn't been messed with it is 100% a sure thing that the top speed on the speedo reflects what the car can do and most cars are limited for the reason that they would be unstable at a higher speed without extensive suspension and aero modifications
@TheMikeyEl most are limited to 107 in the 90's by GM....the McLaren wasnt limited, itll go 155..the Citation X-11 EFI would hit 130,so would the Grand Prix with the 3.1 and the Z24 and the V-6 Beretta....most 2.8-3.1 applications all the way up to the mid 90's had no limiters. My 1989 Pontiac 6000 STE AWD would stop at 95 (so you dont blow the trans)but my 1989 6000 SE would go 125-130 and just run out of steam...no limiter...thats all the 3.1 could make it go...not bad for 145 hp.
@delboythetoyboy ,, sorry it took so long to get back,, i never got a notice in email,, But to answer your question,, speedo reads 120,, but heads up display goes up to 188mph ,, as i got this car up to 143mph according to the heads up,, and still had more to go,,
@TacticalSuperRebel sorry guy's i didn't respond earlyer,, my dash speedo reads 120mph and my heads up display reads 188mph,, the most i ever done was 143mph with more to go, it's like the faster i went the lower the car went to the ground,, oh and thanks for defending me rebel,,
ya our was pretty damn quick with the stock tranny but to many burn outs...and blew it sky high....so we put a reg.3.1 tranny in it...at first it with stood the power but after about 500 miles it would go but it would slip...it almost felt like we were pullin something...but now that one is blown... but were wantin to convert it to a 5 speed but the brakes need to come first
Blow off or as we they are called in the England, a dump valve. Both names sound a little wrong but never mind. Is something well worth getting. Great noise and also adds performance.
the road you are driving on looks like it is off of hwy 1.. goodyear rd?
