i agree, steve is amazing, and his pig scream is A. irreplaceable and B. one of the best in the biz. but is was extremely impressed by kevin, the fill in. like, on the new ion dissonance album (which is a work of genius might i add) he doesnt do any pig screams, at least none memorable enough for me to remember right now. he brought his full range to this show, and thats impressive.

It's not so much talent, but once you figure out the correct technique (it took me forever) then it's really no challenge, just don't do it to much. Other thing is, inward pig squeals, which steve does, are nowhere near as challenging as having a good outward pig squeal

it's most defenitley inward. I can tell by the tone. That and they posted a comment a while back on Circle of Dead Childrens myspace saying CODC's vocalist was like an inspiration for the inward pig squeals, or something along those lines.

well, i dont know how right you are dude. i was listening to harvesting the deceased, and the way he was alternating between undoubtably outward growl and the pig squeals made me think it was outward, because i tried just breathing in and out in the way he did, and it didnt work at all. you could be right, but im not convinced at all. i do a outward pig screams, and ive tried to figure out how to do inward, and it just sounds shitty when i try. so either way hes good.

I'm 100% sure. Good examples of outward are JFAC and CODC. Good examples of inward are despised icon and all shall perish. I'll will admit that he has good control over his inwards though. His growls were better on The Healing Process though.

well if it is inward, i dont really care cuz i cant do inward for shit, so i think its easily as tough. i do a good outward, and that wasnt easy to perfect but now that i know how thats not that hard either. so, id say i equally respect both. and, JFAC doesnt do pig squeals on genesis he might, but i dont remember any time that he really did, unlike how i can remember his on entombement on the doom ep. and i think the THP and TIOMD are pretty much equal in all respects.

all the pig squeals that steve does on the albums are inhale. And up until about a year ago, they were inhale live too. But now, if you listen to anything live from about the last year, you can clearly heard that hes switched to a guttural outward pig gurgle with an amazing high overtone.
