The last episode of season 5 is my all time favorite of season 5. When the feds raided Johns house and Tony running from the raid it was just the those kind of things happen trust me on that one.

I didn't focus on the Soprano's near the end..when and how did they use Van's song? Used to live(like about 2 months ago) about 1 mile from the Holsten's restaurant that they used for the final fade-out in the series.So funny, we used to take our (young) kids there (and the rest of their team) after their softball games for some ice cream cones. Never imagined it as a "likely" gangster hangout.

Definitely found my way here looking for Sopranos Van Morrison end of season 5.

Brilliant use of the song, we went through the whole journey of season five, Tony evades arrest when the FBI arrests Johnny Sack, he sits on the steps of what looks like a school, snow is on the ground, his coat is torn, and it is a cold and desperate moment, he calls his lawyer who has figured out that they are not after Tony. "Be of good cheer, rub a hunchback's hump" ( the Glad tidings?). David Chase = Genius.

Cheers! The best thing I ever bought was the Box set, as the more I watch the episodes, the more the depth of the writing becomes evident.

It feels too that it would not be possible now to start filming the Sopranos project again from scratch, because the world has changed so much. The timing of the series completed a cycle that started from about GoodFellas onwards. I think this is why the intro, Tony driving home at the end of the day (in the Fall?), is so poignant.

For me, Van's very best lp of all time. 1970...what a year. I can thank an old co-worker, Mike Noonan of London, Ontario. Him & Brian Lee & I took a lunch break from Victoria Hospital and went to Mikes, where he put on the Moondance album...I was floored, I came apart.
