Yeah when i first saw them from distance i thought, hey why waste ammo they are slow and cant get me from range. So I ran up with my combat knife and as soon as they saw me they crouched ducked and shot. I died, but I did learn a lesson.
If the Psi-Emitter in Yantar is still active, it changes your view to a sepia tone when you're within a certain range. It's a really c0ol effect that you must experience in-game to really appreciate.
You should get the psi-helmet before venturing into X16. You'll only need to take two weapons with you, one rifle and one shotgun. The rifle should be 5.45 or 5.56 (easy to resupply), scope optional but not necessary. If you use a scope, set the rifle on semi-auto for better efficiency. Use the rifle against zombies. Use the shotgun against snorks. Unless, like me, you enjoy the challenge of battling snorks with a pistol.
Once you agree to do the X16 mission for Sakharov (you have to talk with him, of course), he's supposed to send Kruglov with you to the edge of Yantar (just follow him, he goes there on his own). All you really have to do is make sure he doesn't get killed to death by zombies (or snorks if any show up). Then there's a blowout but you both survive. Then both of you go back to Sakharov and he makes the psi-helmet based on Kruglov's readouts.

Then all of a sudden you hear your PDA making that little beep telling you that there's something nearby, and the number telling you how many are near you goes to 1 and i fucking sprint out of the area and back to the bar XD.
Snorks are extremely fun to hunt in open territory. The more the better. Try dodging their lunging attacks and then sho0t them in the head with a pistol. It's challenging and it's g0od practice for headshots.
What little you know. These zombies can take entire magazines of fire if you don't aim for the head, they never flinch and they can get the fuck back up.
Yeah, but they only sho0t from the hip, so if you stay at a distance, they're easy prey. My fave weapon for Yantar is a scoped Obokan. It's a very cost-effective weapon since the Professor gives you a discount on them and 5.45 ammo after X16.
Only more effective, imo, as fast zombies present a challenge and have an excuse for leaping around to get around. Large numbers of shamblers are only scary when they an actually navigate/demolish their surroundings to get at you.

I though this part of the game was kinda fun. I like the zombies and the snorks.

You don't need to uninstall, just remove the "gamedata" file.
