  • was that a bird strike at 1:45 ......... ?

  • Super vid

  • Emirates is a dream come true of the great rule of Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Al-Makhtom.

Great leader with great country !

  • cool

  • Nice filming! What camera are you using?

  • its amazing how that just.....flys! aircraft are amazing thats why im gonna be an engineer

  • superb video skills.

  • What a beauty :)

  • big lumbering cigar.

  • Very smooth, well done!! I don't like how the a380's wing seems to entirely split at the back during touch down.

  • Thats one ugly overweight plane !

  • looks like slow landing...

  • so jus take off & landing. no pax? waste of time & money! omg!!

  • God damn, when was this? If I had known the 380 was coming I'd have come to see it :(

  • I seen a bird go in 3 engine 1:45 seconds....

  • I love when the guy in the background says in his totally BIRTISH accent '' it looks like thunderbirds ehh??'' LOOL

    but beautiful aircraft ;)

    awesome!

  • cant wait for the a380 service to start in September from Manchester

  • Is the A380 as long as the 777-300ER?

  • wow i didn't think an A380 would be able to takeoff fully loaded for long haul trip from here, being as b'ham has a fairly short runway.

  • @Kainine01 It wasn't fully loaded.

  • @Kainine01, That was'nt fully load, if that the case then the a380 would have overshot the runway.

  • Old engineering phrase states that what looks good, generally goes good. Let's hope this bucks the trend....

  • I was and watch it. It was a lovely day too!

  • A380 truly has an ugly nose

  • LOL that may be but it looks damn great landing

  • Awesome videos! I love them! I am also an airplane maniac! I've rated 5 stars, subscribed, added you as friend and enjoyed your videos! Please subscribe back!

  • Birmingham is having a runway extension soon so then it can allow fully loaded 747's, 777's, a340's and maybe a fully loaded a380.

  • All this talk of Runway lengths I find interesting....

Particularly when it comes to 747's and the Airport...which leads me to remembering when Air Force One dropped Clinton off for the G8 summits here in the 90s...

How did that happen? I'm pretty sure it went straight back to the US fully laden without any stopovers?

Also: Concorde. I know it might be a different animal and sadly gone now (*sob*) but how did that cope with Birmingham Airport?

  • a 747 takes less room than a 777 to take off

    Neutrinoghost

  • my parents on way back from orlando to manchester 31/01/10 got diverted to birmingham, virgin atlantic 747,anyone know why??????

  • Snow on the runway.....

  • @siattisc me 2:O

  • @siattisc we had bad weather during that time.

  • @siattisc Anybody cares???? This is a video about AN AIRPLANE landing!

  • Comment removed

  • I can't understand , it was landing , and takeoffs again ???

  • This is an edited video of the aircraft's visit to B'ham, It parked up for around 3 hours on the stand, before departing back to Dubai

  • I used to work at B'ham trust me the airport cannot cope with a fully loaded 777, let alone 747 or A380. In the Summer if it was too hot the Emirates 777-300er would have to leave behind Pax or Bags to stay below the weight limits. That's the reason you hardly ever see 747's at BHX, they can land, but not full.

  • @Neutrinoghost Having been to Birmingham Airport myself I too can agree with your comment. The runway is barely long enough for this massive craft.

  • @Neutrinoghost

Emirates are doing the same for Newcastle airports aniversary on the 26th July with a 777.

  • @Neutrinoghost why would heat affect weight

  • @Aviationnation10 Warm air is less dense than cold air, so for a given ground speed there is a lower airspeed. Take two identical aircraft with identical loads, one in Dubai @ 40degC and one in Glasgow @ 5degC, the one in Dubai will use more runway to reach the same takeoff speed.

  • @Neutrinoghost o i get ya now i taught you ment it was just too warm thanks for the explanation

  • @Neutrinoghost Fully loaded the A380 can actually take off in less distance then the 777-300ER

  • @roryj123ok That's true, although I assume the 380 has a higher lift coefficient than the 777.

  • محد متهني بهالطيايير غير عيال الحمره ..ولا نحن اصحاب الدار يدبلون علينا في الاسعار عكس عيال الحمره..

  • Birmingham's runway is short for A380

  • no it is not its short for the 747 more like but can just about cope with a fully loaded 747. the a380 is perfect for bhx what ever the weight.

  • Thats incorrect mate. A fully loaded a380 has no chance of taking off / landing at BHX safely. This was only half full, taking over from the usuall 777 which comes in from Dubai daily. In celebration for BHX's 70th Birthday :)

  • Its had fully loded 747's takeoff there in the past. The a380 has a amazing Takeoff / Landing distance airbus were forced in to having at least 2 thrust reversers on there a380 as they wanted none. But i think there has always been confusion and debate with the general Takeoff / Landing distances. Personaly i think the runway extension is there to make it more accsesible to jumbos and strengthn the airports image not so they can typically land there.

  • British Wings(Sorry Welsh Wings) - advanced tech

  • Well, Broughton and Filton, so English and Welsh, but who's counting?

As for runway length, depends on load, a fully laden 380, passenger wise, can use the runway, but fuel load, on the other hand would be restricted, limiting destinations to Europe, the Eastern US/Carib, and the Near East. Ditto for the 747. A longer (2 mile runway) would allow true long range flights.

  • Is it a normal flight now then!

  • Awsome POV simply the best

  • An excellent video to be sure. We saw this incredible aircraft at Farnborough last year. Go to mcpcshowcase to view it doing her stuff. I defy anyone not to be impressed

    5*superb

  • What a vid, what a plane. How the hell do they get these things to fly? its huge!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brilliant video. Thanks to Emirates for choosing Birmingham as the first UK regional airport to receive the A380.

Please bring her in again soon.

  • Amaziing video. One of the best i have seen of this beauty. Thx!

  • sweet as a kiss... landing and video... thank you for that... being airside must ave been so much better than behind the fence I was... Pure MAGIC!!!

  • Wow amazing video mate!! Well done!!

  • This is the best video Ive seen so far of the A380 at BHX .

  • Superb video ! Thanks for sharing mate

  • Didny Coventry's G-AGTM come in aswell?

  • it did spencer lol, the second best aircraft there that day
