  • per rebuild, no big deal...once a fourstroke goes your looking at. piston, rings, top end bearing, valves, valve seats, valve guides, cam chain and possible even cam(s) no matter how minimal the rebuild is it will be far more expensive than a two stroke.

  • @carlman99 Not really my buddy olny gets 90hrs on his 250f pistons and he put 80 hrs on his 125 pistons the olny thing that isint cost effective is how often you replace clutches on the damn 2 smokes !

  • shtofan: i dont know.. it seems like its revving way to high and quick to be a 450 but i do agree it doesnt look like the 350, maybe an early prototype with the frame and plastic off the 250 and 450? or just a 250f but i doubt it...

    and sdlocalkid85: your 525 maybe be very reliable but as soon as you look at a 250f, its is far less reliable than any two stroke...without constant valve shimming they'll give up in no time.. even if a two troke takes one or two new pistons a year its $100- $200

  • the only reason we have 4 stokes is bc of the fucked up ama rules.....2 smokes are much faster and lighter than a equal sized 4 banger

  • hahah 2 strokes more reliable than 4 strokes? quit smoking crack guy. ive had my ktm for 3.5 years and never had one problem except for a blown HID. all my friends that ride 2 strokes are always replacing reeds and having issues keeping their bikes up. KTM 525 over any 2 stroke out there, except for CR500AF (sick bike).

  • @brokenbarrows tell that to the lone yz125 that took first on both races when Yamaha had there big 250f blow out any yz125 stock will hang with a stock 250f it is when they dump 15k to 20k in to the 250f it can then start pulling on the 125....

    4stroke is winning all of the AMA pro only do the the fact that that is what the factory ride give them to ride

    you drop the $ on a 125 it can and will hang with no problem

  • Clearly everybody have noticed the most "horses" of this bike are dead or atleast at stable. Why did i tought the discusion here would be the power of the bike. But atleast everybody agree's it was a nice ride for... Thumpsup !!

  • ktm has developed the 350 to compete in the 450 class as a lighter alternative to the big bikes. just as much power just without the weight, should be a great balance. mike alessi will be racing one this summer in the ama outdoor championship, he is a small guy someone who struggled with fatigue on the 450 so it should be interesting to watch if he can put a ktm on the top of the podium this season.

  • It was made for the 450 class. Ktm thinks that the 450 is too much bike for the track and it is effecting riders lap times because the bike is such a bitch to handel, They say the 350 handels better and is plenty enough power for the track. Mike Alessi is coming back to the 2010 nationals in the US after Europe. Then he will be racing in the Austrailian supercross after that. And yeah, against 450fs.

  • actually.. that was the talk in the summer.. they aren't going to take this into affect anytime soon according to the AMA. It would be to hard on the companies and racers with how the economy is.

    this bike would make that old xr350 feel like a tank. i used to have a xr100, 200, and 500. my yz250f blows them all out of the water in every way. modern bikes definately have come a looonngg way.

  • Sorry mate but there in the 450 class. You would never be allowed to race a 350 in the 250 class. Its a bigger engine. they have rules cuzy lol The 350sxf have prety much the sae hp as the 450 and is lighter so that puts the performance right up the with the 450s. googole the specs and you will see

    not to be rude but the 4 stroke is better for environment and coz there are no extra oil needed in the fuel that makes so it doesn't let out the same exhaust as the 2 stroke, and they are trying to make the cars better for environment. and as you both say the 4 stroke are or the 2 stroke are more reliable i say none of them are. sure the 2 stroke is cheaper and easier to me mechanic for but the 4 stroke is hard and ppl are afraid to work with them at home atleast here.

  • well brettwill87. sense theirs only two classes to race in. in the usa atleast. and its 100cc's to big for the 250f class. u answer that question. and to thor17racer. it takes ALOT more than a bike to win a race. and finally at herse88. ur a tool. a four stroke is much more reliable than a 2 stroker. im not gonna hate on them 2 strokers tho cuz this wouldnt be a sport without them good ole 2 strokes. but that era is over. so now its ur turn to get over it

  • 350sx-f is the perfect bike, if a 250f can run almost the same lap times as a 450 in motocross. the 350 wont have a problem, less weight, more usable power. think whoever ends up racing it will be top spot on the box!

    The production of the 350 started in september/october 09.

    Before the reveiling at EICMA 09 the 350 was "undercover" with the old plastic and graphics.

    After EICMA, they "stopped being undercover" cuz then everybody already knew how the bike would look like.
