  • it's like listening to Muse .. in a more fusion way.

  • I don't like the guitarist with the blue guitar. I;ve seen a few lives vids with him in em and he's never impressed me.

  • since 3.25 it´s like DEATH!

  • damn, i forgot how sick this song is

  • The new album is called "Carbon Based Anatomy" look it up!!! :)

  • Paul is GOD!

  • Who did the brutal vocals on thi video? I cannot see anyone doing.

  • @myaspm oh right,playback...

  • what a fucking amazing song so hard to play!

  • SEAN REINERT IS THE DEFINITION OF AN AMAZING DRUMMER HIS TIMING AND SMOOTHNESS IS MIND-BOGGLING

  • Why does the camera not show the guy doing the growling vocals? you cant tell if its a playblack or not..wtf

  • @DeanDimTheGreat playback

  • @DeanDimTheGreat The growls are actualy on playback in this show

  • i listen 2 dongs

  • best dong in focus, along with how could i?

  • @SHREDDER222X i like pauls dong the best

  • @cooliovasquez XD aahahah OMFG!!! i mean!!! "Best SONG in Focus" fucki'n dislexia XD

  • @SHREDDER222X It's ok to like Paul's dong. He's God after all.

  • lol 3:25 : huh...oh shit the camera's on me (headbangs)

  • only sean malone can play this shit on a fretless lol

  • @louiscfc93 - don't forget their new bassist Robin

  • This crowd could have Chuck Schuldiner come back to life, right in front of them, and they'd STILL be lame. They suck.

  • @evelsteev Cynic isn't a band that you can have a moshpit to. Progressive bands have very static crowds; they're there to enjoy the music, not break each other's bones. You get used to it after a while.

  • @Spermwhales93 I disagree, I used to BE in Cynic, in 1986, and in 1989, when they started playing more, locally, the crowds were WAY better and more enthusiastic. People at least cheered, even if no moshing occurred. I've seen more enthusiasm at country music concerts.

  • @evelsteev yeah sure you spect us to believe you played in cynic?? yeah sure

  • @evelsteev I sang for Cynic, not played with them. I was then replaced by Jack Kelly. You can ask Sean or Paul yourself. Regardless, that crowd was lame. Just making a comment. That's what these spaced we're typing in are for ;)

  • @evelsteev really?

  • @BBown1 Yeah, just look up wiki. I'm Steve Rincon.

  • @evelsteev Well, when you are so amazed with a bands music, sometimes you're just left in awe and decide to stand and listen. It happens only so often.

  • The crowd is weak beyond description.

  • how is this song a headbanger?

  • @cooliovasquez because its perfect to headbang to and when i did it in front row of my first cynic concert last month it was one of the best experiences of my life

  • This vocals>Cookie monster vocals

  • @007Pogo i could admit ur comment from many bands i like...

but from this one =s i think u dont understand the term...

  • Comment removed

  • mmmm sexy singer

  • Epileptic Seizure at 3:27 lols

  • Intense metal - dang! They played the whole Focus album here!

the crowd are very subdued but the long haired mosher was in a world of his own. at 3:36 theres a dude who looks like Tom Araya

  • @LiteracyLabyrinth Im seeing Cynic this friday, August 6th...they are playing all of Focus, all of Traced In Air and other songs, its gonna be awesome

  • Saw Cynic last night on their US tour opening night in LA. These guys are relentless on stage. Freakin' talented musicians. Awesome songs. Great concert!!!

  • Lmao, that guy with long hair and camo shirt is totally fucking rocking out in every video.

  • I really wish Paul would do the death metal style vocals like he used to before Focus came out. I think it's lame that they use pre-recorded Tony Teegarden audio tracks for their live performances because neither Paul, nor anyone else in the band wants to sing. I always thought Paul was a better death metal singer than Teegarden anyway and would be a lot cooler seeing Paul sing both the growling parts and the clean electronic parts as well.

  • @adamxbeck The problem with doing death metal vocals as I'm sure you know is that it can be very damaging on the throat and pipes. It's especially harder when you get to a certain age and it's not something you feel comfortable doing. I do understand what you are saying, having somebody do the death metal vocals would somehow make it more complete, but I think what we are hearing is certainly good enough.

  • @TheRippingCorpse That was always Paul's excuse for not wanting to sing Death Metal anymore but I don't believe him and it's also not true. Singing death metal isn't damaging to your voice at all as it's not really your throat so much which creates the sound but your diaphragm and abdomen...there are guys who have been singing death meal for 25 years at this point and are perfectly fine.

  • @TheRippingCorpse ...To be continued LoL. Paul quit singing death metal after only 3 years or so. I honestly think Paul was never a big fan of death metal but it was popular at the time down here in Miami where we live so that's what he did. They also changed their sound a LOT between their early stuff and when Focus came out. They sounded almost like an entirely different band.

  • @adamxbeck Yeah I get the impression Paul wasn't the biggest death metal fan ever, I think he's more death metal by association. I don't think I ever saw him in a death metal t shirt!

  • @adamxbeck I thought he had issues with his voice at the time anyway, hence the initial introduction of the vocoder.

  • God damn I love Cynic. It must have been a very exiting time in death metal when Focus was released. You had Elements released by Atheist a year before, and you had Death making incredible albums throughout the decade. Not just with the big three, but you also had other death metal groups going in different directions, like In Flames, Opeth, Cryptopsy, Suffocation & a bunch of other groups. Death metal is still great and constantly changing, but this seems to be the most exciting time.

  • I think bands like Cynic should have more space in the metal scene. People prefer to watch the Gene Simmons's tongue, or make stupid discussions like : "Who was the best Maiden's vocalist" or "Does John Petrucci use steroids?". We need evolute metal, and not to discuss this. Stay heavy , people. And sorry about some mistakes, my english is not so good :-)

  • Ah! So that's how you pronounce it!

  • the best techno death EVER!

  • You gotta love Headbanging Mowgli at about 3.26mins ;p

  • lol.

    It's Cynic.

  • @Cheddar323 It's a part of their sound, listen to some of their albums you'll hear the same thing. It's for everybody and takes some getting used to.

  • So who's doing the growling vox? They never show. And last I read, Paul Masvidal couldn't do them for health reasons, that's why Tony Teegarden did them on the recording. Can Paul do them now, or were they overdubbed for live performances? PM looks like Jake Gyllenhal here too! haha

  • @funkinthechili

For the 2007 reunion tour growls were prerecorded (teegarden). From 2008 the "new" guitarist Tymon has taken care of growls.

search for 'cynic wacken' to see the new lineup in action,

  • @funkinthechili This show was years ago.

  • El mejor tema de la banda sin lugar a duda

  • All killer no filler !

  • fukk. this is very enlightening. it takes an open mind to understand and arrange these kinds of music. hail Cynic!

  • you dumbasses

tony teegarden there keyboardists did the growls on focus and on tour

  • I can understand now why this concert has so few people! Most of the cynic listeners are dumbasses like these two behind us! They did'nt know Tony Teegarden!

  • So, you are basing their intelligence on if they know Tony Teegarden or not?

  • lol i like how Paul Masvidal disappear from the screen at 0:16 - 0-17

  • 3:30 dont do drugs kids

  • i had to favorite this cuz of 3:25

  • I was wondering where in the hell the death vocals were coming from..

kinda cheesy that they're just playing a recording..

I'm bamboozled that these guys came back around, always loved them back in the day.

  • Indeed cheesy... i dont get it

  • @shadybrain

I understand that. Still somebody else could have done the death vocal parts. Anything is better than hearing them synthetically from a recording.

  • @whiskeynale69

well they do now, but this was a reunion tour. I think the new guitarist is the one that does the vocals, just find some vids of new cynic stuff.

  • who the fuck thumbs downed this comment? the other guitarist is doing the growls on tour now you stupid fucks

  • @rockettmeister

wow thanks for pointing that out, even though that has been said like 100 fucking times now.

anyone can be a master wiz of cynic's knowledge on wikipedia, and call someone else a dumb ass. so im sorry im not as cool as you rockett fag.

  • I wouldn't be calling you dumb for not knowing it, I'd call people dumb for not maybe checking a wiki or ANYONE ELSE ON THE INTERNET before they go and 'thumbs down' a comment because they're effectively trying to correct someone. If you're going to correct someone, make sure you have your facts straight first. That's all I have beef with, calling someone dumb for not knowing cynic's wiki backwards or something would be pointless.

  • @rockettmeister

well I didn't thumbs down anyone, so I don't know why you replied to me on your first comment. I wouldn't thumbs down someone for putting the right info out there about the band.

  • I didn't reply to you :S I wasn't replying to any specific user, youtube must have just picked you for some reason :S

  • @rockettmeister

ok, then I apologize dude, have a good one an all that shit.

  • I DOWN THE COMMENT BITCH!

  • Chuck Schuldiner didn't do the death vocals, it was Tony Teegarden.

  • @soviettankenator

    oh.....

    well anyways,

    thanks wikiapedia

  • are you saying chuck didnt do the vocals on focus? or are you saying chuck shuldiner was not the vocalist for death? lol

  • Chuck didn't do the vocals on Focus.

  • @soviettankenator Masvidal do all the vocals on focus :)

  • @angelizer999 no tony teergarden is doing the death growls on focus

  • @soviettankenator It would have been awesome if he did though!

  • @soviettankenator Of course he didn't, the world would have exploded from sheer awesomeness if he did.

  • @soviettankenator Do you know how awesome that would have been though? XD

  • where did u hear that?...Chuck did vocals on Focus?? O_o Chuck had nothing to do with Cynic

  • great performance. the fill-in guitarist unfortunately butchered the first solo though. :(

  • yes he butchered it pretty badly

  • Is it me or does Paul Masvidal look a lot like Jake Gyllenhaal?

  • Haha he does! I've noticed that too.

  • Yeah, both of them are pretty hot, especially Paul <3

  • you're kidding? It's jake who's looking like paul masvidal! ;)

  • Lol!

  • @Pennys1 yeah, it's almost disturbing... : D

  • haha check the dudes at 3.30, funny cunts

  • im new to this band and i love their style but i have a question

whos screaming? because it doesnt look like anyone is when the screaming voice comes on

  • For this concert the screaming was taken from the album as a recorded audio trigger. Now, Tymon does the screaming live.

  • since the guy who did the growls on the 1st album was unavaliable for this reunion tour, they used recordings.

  • ma che cazzo dici coglione, è stupenda questa canzone

  • che cagata immane!!!

  • 2:24 - 2:37

    <3

  • Lol

    Nile shirt guy at

    3:25

    priceless

  • hahahaha omg XD

  • LOL he had a fuckin metal seizure

  • hahahaha, holy shit. best ever!

  • Their music really relaxes me and makes my problems in life less of a problem

  • who in the hell is screaming the vocals?

  • its a track.

  • It's tracked here. Their original second guitarist does them usually, but it seems he wasn't with them at this gig. He was on board at summer breeze 09 though (amazing gig btw :D).

  • Tape.

  • Man, Paul looks so Zen whenever he's singing

  • Wow! I've been a big fan since Paul and Sean played on Human. I bought Focus and Traced In Air the day they came out...but never saw a live show. great footage. Great band...great song! whoever said Paul's voice sucks should crawl back into their cave of Bud-Light and Deicide....open your mind!

  • saw them yesterday, im trying to play this song on guitar too =)

  • win

  • yeah the nile dude rocks XD

  • Haha that dude in the Nile shirt was confused for about 2 seconds then just headbanged like a motherfucker... Kinda sums up the fan reactions to this show...

  • haha yep. The crowds on these videos are kind of funny, you can tell the Cynic fans from the people who are like "wtf?"

  • I prefer vocals on the demo !!!! The same which appeared on the compilation "At Death's Doors" !!! But still a great song !!!!

  • Tonight again in Belgrade!I can`t wait!!Two years ago been amazing show!!

  • I don't really like to point out obvious things, but I'll make an exception. This is Cynic's most brutal song and the drumming is insane!

  • you gotta admit it, there is NO ONE like Cynic, that's what makes them so awesome......

  • i see alot of freaks out in their crowd, wth,

  • Freaks are good bro...what plastic/khaki world are you from?

  • this is ultimately my favourite song by cynic-it works so well live too.i wish i was there,i would have moshed like no otherXD

  • Cynic made up this style, just want to check the old stuff as demos

awesome music, Sean Reinert rules !!

  • Ridiculously good song. Knew about this band for a while, but never actually gave them a listen. way awesome.

  • Oh my god, this is FUCKING awesome

  • He is a lyrical/musical genius, if only you knew the meaning to this beautiful song.

  • Maybe he is, but does he have to use a vocoder all the time?

  • wo make sdeath metal voice?

  • 3:23

    headbangin part :)

  • 3:26

That guy is a fucking winner.

  • Is that a Warr bass guitar?

  • i think no, it should be a normal bass guitar, only broadneck...

  • It is fretless. And those who says "ye there are frets" I can sey that those are only paint.

  • love the band, but why does nobody do the growling parts live... bassist or 2nd guitarist, doesn't matter just do it live

  • they do now, this was shot two years ago, now the new second guitarist does them live

  • they didn't have one then, the new 2nd guitarist Tymon (who recorded Traced in Air with them) now does growls, as well as 2nd guitar.

  • the growling part was done by a chick when they were in the studios

  • Such a unique band, can't wait to see them.

  • Too bad they couldn't find the same vocal box from Focus, Fucking Digitech quit making it, those dinks.

  • I prefer the sound on TiA if anything, more subtle.

  • Cynic's music gives me chills.Sean Reinert is the best drummer ever!!

  • Him, Stef Broks, and Tomas Haake.

  • Tomas Haake is insane.

  • AGREE

  • fuckin amazing band

  • fuck yeah man!!...this band is awesome!!!

  • This song was amazing live.

    Blew me away

  • "Hey, this is the headbanger". One of the best songs ever.

  • just amazing. the vocoder on the vocals is bad ass. he reminds me of a slightly older version of the kid from donnie darko :)

  • Dude, that's exactly what I thought. XD

  • Tony's scream sounds just like the guy's from obituary.

  • and chuck from death

  • He doen't sound so enthusiastic when he sais the name of the song.

  • maybe hes tired

  • Fucking Heavy Intro rox :D:D Fucking Gods of Technical Death !!! Paul Headbanging rox ;d;d

  • Cynic=Opeth=GODS!!

  • godophonic
