  • Ill have to watch these again when I get home! Thank you so much! I have no idea how to EQ and Compress tho..

What is highpass, lowpass, all that, anyone know where I can read or watch a tut on that stuff?

  • @ArtificialFlavaFTB2 TY. Can't post direct links here but you can find tutorials on youtube if you do some searching. But for your question concerning low/highpass filters, high pass means that the filter allows frequencies higher than the cutoff frequency to pass through and low pass means the filter allows frequencies lower than cutoff to pass through (attenuating the frequencies lower/higher the cutoff frequency). Hope my English makes sense :D

  • Great video series, thanks.

  • Good tutorial! Thanks....

  • @AbanD333 Thanks dude

  • Kick ass series man. Thanks for actually showing how to make an amp plugin not sound like shit.

  • you're a fucking joker, hahah

  • what's the name of that wave-editor?

    awesome mix btw!

  • @Gravecaller thanks! It's GoldWave, kinda old version but it works

  • hi !!!

Why did you record the guitars in stereo , if you are panning left and right ?

of course its your own sound but I want to know your reasons and what

do you benifit from it , 'coz guitar is mono so why not record 2 mono channels of guitar for the stereo image.

Thanks in advanced ! love your vids.

  • @amirhe6 I guess the only reason is noobishness. There's no benefit when using a mono signal chain, it's just a habit that I've had ever since I began recording through a stereo line input.

  • @kodoku42

Stereo won't really be a good idea especially for rhythm. You would want to let it stand out from the song. Non of the less, it is an experimental opinion. I sometimes like to stereo a rhythm guitar to get the sound, say, Tool's old album.

Your rhythm sounds pretty awesome btw! I learn some stuff from your video too.

    Thank you.

  • @thecookiedude Thank you! And I will do my rhythms in mono from now on. And doing stereo will take up more resources. Now that I have listened to the mix many times I think it came out to be little overproduced, little too neat... what do you think about the mix as a whole?

  • @kodoku42 Hello :)

Well to be honest I think its a bit "too much distortion" From this video I realised you didn't gate your guitar and you ca still hear the little scratching and noise. You can cut them out as well if you want to. The composition is pretty sick though! I just think the amount of gain you applied on is a bit too much.

  • @thecookiedude True, maybe I should cut the distortion on the guitar patch. I wonder if it has something to do with quad tracking, dunno. But cutting would be good for the quiet spots, I've noticed that Drewsif has practiced that. But thanks for being constructive =)

  • @kodoku42

Haha Any time :) and It might be the quad layering. It is a nice experiment but I think you might have over distorted the awesomeness really. You are dealing with low tuning compositions so too much distortion will just blur out the notes rather than getting the djent sound like Meshuggah or something.

Are there any links you can share that you have your music posted up? I would like to hear some of your projects and demos.

  • i also do 2 notches... but at 125 and 2k. pretty close... what was that boost at the end? you should probably just use a mastering suite like Ozone or something... it has this disgusting maximizer. must have. also, that picture at the end was sexy as hell. so when are we gonna get some full songs?

  • @LordHines420 You mean the volume boost in wave editor? I could have done the final volume level in daw, yes but again it's a habit from the time I didn't use proper limiting in daw and I used to have unwanted peaks in the mix mainly from the snare hits. Full songs?... after I gather enough ideas together (haven't done full arranged songs in a long while). Best riffs/melodies tend to come in mind when I don't have access to my guitar or computer.

  • @kodoku42 then you need to get some kind of voice recorder, or an app for your cell phone. i use that a lot for riffs. actually...the best riffs are usually made when youre really fucked up high or drunk. greater access to your higher mind. better riffs and grooves. you want to flatten your signals in chains. for example, i use Waves C4 limiters on my guitar master. that smooths the signal. then another C4 on the master also with the Ozone hard limiter suite. smoother ins smoother outs..

  • @kodoku42 but you also want to watch out for that over-produced sound. you dont want to color your signals too much... but enough. you also may want to checkout chaining your EQs. i run a vintage 4 band EQ on each of 4 mono guitar tracks. then one or two 10 bands on each of 2 buses. then one or two more on the guitar master. combining the signals changes the EQ. plus you can more easily do notches and adjustments without fucking anything up.... keep up the good work.

  • Your videos have been very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to show everyone your ways. Hope you do good things with your music in the future.

  • Great job, thanks for the efforts!
