i know the history and understand that its forefathers wouldn't want kids to forget where it starts but my sentiments just stem from wanting to see someone such as yourself be successful doing what you love. a lot people are on a hustle. it'd be great to discuss this in person some time. Yo man by the way its SOME, we did a collabo canvas in the summer. hit me up some time dude i'd love to do more collaborating.
I do disagree however that we can't have hip-hop culture and be rich. Money can dirty a lot of things but keep in mind that graff for example has many politics involved and although we may look at some as fakes, are they really? You can still make bank doing what you love and keep it real. The culture doesn't die, its actually quite the opposite, its spreading. Knowing your history and trying to preserve its old foundations can be diff/ things.
i think its about keeping the raw essence of this culture alive and no you cant do that when money is involved because this comes from the streets and from the most shunned individuals on the streets,,,,and it turn it happened to be a good outlet for the youth of the street.....i agree graff has its politics and is way too complicated just as the whole umbrella we call hip hop is...anyway thanks for your words..
@chief69oner no doubt. i see where you're coming from. i just didn't want you to exclude individuals and street cats who want to make money from a passion extending from hip-hop culture. the history of it is from the streets and it served as an outlet and continues to do so. but there are smart individuals who won't let money taint that.
Chief, you're smart and you bring up many good points. Just be sure next time to bring up the fact that many underground acts don't mind not being signed as well. You're right thought there are a lot of nice cats who want to be signed to major labels but major labels usually are major for a reason: because they like telling people what they think they like and that false imagery is perpetuated through us as well. thus the money rolls in that way.
the problem is that people who bboy..dj..beatbox dont adress this problem that I bring to attention in this video..yet soo many people agree with me....truth is if we all as a culture attacked a problem like this theres no limit to what is possible
