Half the people hating don't even attend GPs or PTs. Noobs will be noobs, they talk a lot of shit but when you see them they're constantly digging throught junk rares like beggars.
Of course he's nervous. He's in the presence of a legend. LSV is nervous too. Familiarity with Humphrey doesn't change the sense of awe he inspires in those around him
all u haters STFU - this is exactly the kind of attitude that really gets to me. It's not like chapin or the ruel brothers are trying to build budget vintag,e it's just a 13-14 year old kid that LSV is helping out. This type of haters are extremely harmful to the game and to the community.
Im sorry Im a bit of a noob, but could someone explain how grapeshot is played? I've been trying to figure it out for a bit now looking at decklists for this deck and stuff. I don't see any red mana producers or any cards that let you play something without casting cost...
birchlore rangers lets you tap two elves you control to add one mana of any color to your mana pool, so that solves the casting cost bit.
the way grapeshot elves is played is that you play either A. Nettle sentinel & birchlore rangers, or B. Heritage Druid & nettle sentinel + another elf.
After that, you have a consistent mana source to play all the cards in your hand, as heritage druid and birchlore rangers' abilities are not affected by summoning sickness.
after that happens, you play glimpse of nature/ whatever other draw engine you have and play lots of elves until you draw grapeshot and get a high enough storm count to hit for lethal damage.
Im not saying this to be mean, but his strategy is awful.
1. No sideboard in vintage?! really? Its 15 cards! just put them in already.
2. using a deck that has already been played in one form or another, people will be expecting it. (which is what the sideboard is for, but of course hes not using one.)
3. Budget Vintage? Im sorry, but if he cant afford a glimpse of nature or two he wont be able to get the cards vintage is all about.
Jesus, give the kid a break. I think he did a great job despite his obvious nerves and was quite knowledgeable on the subject at hand. Also, he looks to be 14 or something, I think he did a pretty good job talking to someone twice his age.
he prob dont have money for the side OR he doesnt know what to side in or what the meta is! Hes a noob, if u test with out a side its OK but a tournament u need it
This kid is the Asian McLovin'! This is one of the greatest compliments I can give to someone. The video was informative and helpful as well. Everyone acts as if LSV and Mashi do a great job to begin with when most comments on here and channel fireball are bashing them after each video is posted.
I mean its fine that he is nervous, but LSV is giving him great advice, and the kid is like, well I dont have any money for that, well I dont play sideboard... COME ON KID, DONT PLAY VINTAGE LOL, most expensive format hands down if your just building decks for it....
sorry, I dont wanna be mean, but this just bothered, take his advice kid...
Do people have so little self esteem that they need to bash the guy? If he was a dickhead, I would be joining in, but he's just nervous. LEAVE BRYAN ALONE!!! he he... but seriously, I've learned over the years that Magic is full of really angry wannabe-nerds and geeks.
His talking to perhaps the master of vintage and he most proberly didn't expect to come on the show but they were like want to get some advice ON VIDEO?
His still going to want to do it because he gets to hang with LSV but that doesn't mean he has to be confident
uhhh..... how do you plan on exploiting Skullclamp? The draw effect only works when the equipped creature is put into the graveyard. How do you destroy the creatures?
For people who just want to copy a whole deck, this video means nothing. For people who know why a particular card was chosen, whether if it has to be there or can be substituted, this video is very useful. It gives understanding, even if you don't want to build the budget deck they're talking about.

Usually with birchlore rangers (1/1 for 1G, morph G, tap 2 untapped elves to add 1 mana of any color) to add red.

it gives +1/-1 so it will kill most of the creatures when it gets equipped
SaintInferno 2 years ago
skullclamp gives +1-1 so if the creature is a 1/1 then it dies on the spot and you get the 2 cards, thats why its baned in legacy and extended.
