There is no crosswalk lighting or a street light there, cross at your own risk or go to an intersection that offers a guarded crosswalk. Other than that, shut up........
your not supposed to try to walk while there is ongoing traffic comming you wait till traffic clears then cross and another thing pedestrians should know the drivers have to watch the road they cant look over at the sidewalk on a busy street like this
Columbus needs a subway but folks are so dumb here they would stick it right in the middle of this very street and call it a trolley.
There used to be a White Castle at this very spot across the street from Ohio Bell at 111 n. 4th.
Seriously fellow Columbians, ask a 5 year old Japanese kid; this town needs a subway. People here cannot drive to save their own lives and a subway would enable them to leave the car at home. It would save lives and billion$ in human body parts. A tornado shelter too
In Germany, this sort of situation is easily handled by painting zebra stripes on the road at this "crossing". If the community wishes to save money by now using a light they will opt for zebra stripes. Perhaps there exists a video on youtube about it. I'm living in Germany, people understand this concept and I have NEVER had a problem before. They must wait for something terrible to happen until action is taken, or what?
I lived in Columbus most of my life, now I live in Fort Collins, CO. There are crosswalks all over the place, in parking lots and streets, and it's a pain in the ass. People walk around like with they're heads in the clouds, oblivious to the fact that they're holding up traffic. Hippy bullshit. Cars are bigger, they get the right of way.
looks to me like the cars are stopping up ahead for something ...gee what could that be >> a light perhaps .. so the lazy citizens can't walk a 1/2 block down the road huh?? i think the city should do something aboutr this problem ...get rid of the cross walk let them cross down the street ,,At least these people aren't dumb enough to think that their right to cross superceeds their right to not get splattered ..i hate people who exersise their rights and almost get killed for it so silly
I never knew that our government was so addicted to money that they did this. We will never fix those crosswalks ethier because we spend it on Redlight cams and flashing Stopsigns, and road work. The government needs to learn about these issues
The problem is that fourth street is a five-lane highway. The speed limit is 35mph, so cars go 45mph. There needs to be traffic calming features in the road and non-synchronized lights that will slow cars down. Fourth Street and Third Street should both be turned into two-way streets.
how about a hundred dollar fine for people who don't know how to use a cross walk!
I agree, there should be better signs here, maybe like they have in Dublin where you push a button to turn on the flashing lights and then cross. But if you stand of the side of the road and don't walk, of course the cars will just keep driving by!

This might sound like an easy solution... But it is a corner... ummm... how about the city installing crossing lights.
Then post police for a few weeks to train the pedestrians and car drivers to move into the 21st century. Most modern cities have them now...

WAH!! One of the few crosswalks without a stop light! Get some exercise and walk down a block to a light!

reasonable, you can also try putting your hand up and signaling the cars to stop for you.. a good samaritan would surely stop.
