Alot of religous spirits in the hizzzouse! I am A CHILD/woman OF GOD and I preach the Gospel and MANY have been saved, healed, delivered, set free, born again, headed for heaven and denying hell!!!!! Hallelujah! Praise be to Jesus Christ the only Son of GOD!
Disagee: reference to Adam MAKES it a universal rule, women don't get the spiritual gift of pastor-teacher (ties to Eph4:11). BUT 2:15 is funny in Greek, shows women have spiritual equality, but different roles. For who's not influenced by mothering? Tough job!
I think it's referring to a husband-wife relationship - I don't see a command in Scripture for a woman to be in submission to anyone but her husband - which is where the referrence to Adam comes in.
No, it already presumes she's doing that. Paul is saying it's an EQUAL SPIRITUALITY despite the unequal relationship (i.e., submission). My pastor taught this stridently and now I see it in the Greek for myself, so I gotta disagree with you about the verse's meaning. I love that verse, it's punny: "the woman shall be delivered through delivery". Paul is always talking about God's Begetting (lol the only virgin apostle constantly uses sexual analogies). Very funny, here.

It is my understanding that "husband of one wife" was an issue because of polygamy - not because women couldn't be deacons, etc.

Polygamy or monogamy doesn`t matter he says a husband, which only a man can be.

I had never considered that he may have been referring to a specific woman, but it certainly makes more sense in light of Galatians 3:28.
