  • The Vedas never said a thing about higher or lower caste. Its only the Brahmins who started it. But thankfully its decreasing fast in India

  • Hindu Religion is Full of SHIT.... Lots of Superstition Customs and Discrimination...

In 1947 -- Only 40 Million People Were Below Poverty Line..

Today 850 Million People Earn Less than 50 CENTS and Face HUNGER Everyday....

Our ALL Politicians are Real criminals....for Social Injustice....

    ---------

  • @Wisdom909 Not all politicians are criminals. If you think politicians are the ones with power, think again. It are the rich elites who pull all the strings, politicians are nothing but puppets.

  • @OhReallyNoWai By allowing themselves to be the puppets of the rich, rather than making a difference, they are just as guilty as the upper caste

  • Bodhidharma tought the Chinese medicine and Kong Fu coz he did not like to share with Indian as indians are highly obsess with caste. If indian learnt kongfu, kongfu would have been used beat up lower rank caste. If they have learnt medicine, there would have been another additional caste called "medicine caste". See now how the chinese prospered through BodhiDharma teachings. If he had thought to indians, India would have been a more messy with caste problems. Most concentrations spent on caste.

  • So, it seems, it's always a WHITE guy to talk about racism.

  • Welcome to the gutter "super power" we worship rats n cows but if a fellow hindu "untouchable" comes near us we will attack the sub human

    welcome to hindushitem

  • the original caste system was actually a perfect form of regulating society, but it grew stale ,static, got corrupted and the result of that is seen today

caste simply means the role u play in society, or your position...originally it was decided by merit...later it got decided by family...and that was the problem

  • all sammys look the same to me

  • may god bless all of them , raise ur weapons

  • Some of this still happens today, not as wide spread back then. It's kind of ironic how people do not like touching 'untouchables' and yet they do illicit things to women.

  • journeyman is one racist media group!

  • I saw a person comment a few Jounrney man videos ago, It was in regards to people complaining about the time in which these were produced and recorded. If you dont learn from the past histroy can & Will repeat itself. Learn from these gems into the past because were lucky to have them. I for one love Journeymans documentaries new or old because of the places people and situations they present to us. So Stfu :) and learn, Ignorance is ,but should not always be bliss. Fools....

  • fucking the police. leading lathi charges against students - they sometimes beat unarmed kids to death. fuck them. not to mention the "riot control" that involves guns. granted, some students are just hooligans - but it's still overkill.

  • dhotis

  • '94 is a long time ago... Have things gotten better with the Caste divide? I'm sure the recent economic growth would sooth the resentment.

  • Is this a joke? If that girl fired that rifle it would break her shoulder.

  • its old but i dont care it's still a documentary

  • They're using .303 rifles. That ammunition is ridiculously expensive because the calibre is so large. I can't even afford to shoot with it. These poor Indians aren't as poor as it seems.

  • @eveningniteshade yeah but who knows, maybe its possible to get ammo in india for cheap...its hard to tell. Just cause something costs alot here in the states dont mean that it costs the same there.

  • @eveningniteshade Cost of .303 is as high as it is because the cartridge isn't used much in the states. The Indians made a lot of Enfields and it is still going to be a common rifle there. A couple decades ago 7.62x54R wasn't cheap in the US even though it was a very common caliber in other parts of the world with countless millions of rounds. That's changed with mass importation.

  • @eveningniteshade No, it's kinda expensive (at least in western countries) because it's rarely used other than by surplus-rifle shooters, so production batches are smaller and therefore priced higher. The bullet and powder charge is quite similar to your avg .308 load, so production costs are really about the same. The size difference of the bullet is actually only 0.003 inch, so, yeah, not exactly that much larger.

Then again, considering their income, even shooting .22lr would be expensive.

  • 1994 is 17 years ago... Please upload some new stuff

  • @AnonymousScreenOgler good point;

I find the revolt of the upper castes against the emancipation of the lower castes suspicious if not downright immoral

  • well, I hope they get rid of that caste system and create a majority middle class; like a civilized society is supposed to have;

  • @bbphnix Yeah, like the US, in the USA, we don't have caste classes, we respect each other, no matter if you are black or white, brown or red, yellow or olive tone, we ALL respect each other. We, like the civilized society we are, live in mixed middle class neighborhoods, we don't outcast people in apertheids or ghettos, we live like civilized, loving ppl, we take care of each other and of course, we do not kill each other with fire arms, THAT is so uncivilized, nope, NOT us!

    Guns are 4 bad ppl

  • @osmodivs I assume you are sarcastic;

    I was actually debating with myself if I should further my comment and add that in fact the dream of a civilized society has not been rich, and that a middle is not functioning properly even in the mighty West; which includes the US; although you pointed out more problems than just the middle class issue;

    the fact that you have started talking about the US make me think you might think I am american; I am not - not really of any relevance;

  • indians stink too much from curry

  • @TurkiyeCumhurbaskani wats ur beef you turkish dog?

  • typica; hindus

  • 1.34 the cart is such a fail

  • i love watching the news 17 years late

  • @usernametroubles it's more like a documentary than news;

  • Why those indians act like that they are all same to me they all have agly faces even their prime minister ,indians are the seeds of the satan and the donkeys

  • @abuaimen23 And u are the result of my seed, when i planted it in your mom.

  • Good job, keep up the good work

  • i think they have not discoverd camoflage

  • "Untouchables".

LOL, can't touch this dun dun dun dun dun dun udndun

  • lol doesnt look like these women can defend themselves, even with gun, they gonna get so raped ...Oh wait it was from 1994 they got raped and are longtime buried now

  • @nephildevil or burned probably, think they most likely burn their dead

  • @nephildevil I don't think so; they get news of the upper castes coming to their village they get their guns... I eman in this scenario they have trained extensively ... you think they're not gonna just shoot the balls of the upper douchbag?

  • @gungho10001 They basically made castes illegal, the government made attempts to be secular, they ended up just ignoring the problems. You can make something illegal but people are still going to want to keep it around.

  • 1994 india you racist!

    future comment!

  • caste systems are retarded...down with caste!

  • what did burning yourself to death do for you. stupid!

  • @allenco65 uhm......the arab spring started from that;

  • Now we need another video to show what has happened since.

  • @FedupwithR or you could google to find out......

  • @gungho10001, Captain obvious....

  • When you have someone like Lalu Prasad Yadav as the leader how on earth do you expect the upper cast people to respect lower cast ones. In case you didn't know Lalu was the most corrupt CM ever to rule any part of India. He along with his wife Rabri looted Bihar which was already the most poverty ridden and underdeveloped state.

  • I read "Castle wars" and was a bit interested. Then I come here to see this pre-historic piece of journalism. Journeyman needs to get to the year 2011. Atleast upload documentaries from the year 2000 onwards.

  • the only way to get rid of caste system is to go the old way: 40 acres and a mule.

watch the oligarchs lose their shit over that. the usa media would scream bloody murder ... the int'l criminal jewish banking cartel that owns the media would not like indian liberation ... not. one. bit.

well, they dont like any liberation of any oppressed people because they're the ones behind it all :-\

  • wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?! wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?! we wouldnt need the police no more cuz everybody'd have a gun (yee-haw) wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?! wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?! wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?! nobody'd ever get shot cuz everybody'd have a gun (makes sense) wouldnt it be great if everybody had a gun!?!
  • well done journey man, we have to be toaghten history

wehave an imaraty say that goes, the man with no past would have no future.

  • They would love the movie: the untouchables

  • the caste system is a bunch of hooey

  • This is not sparta

  • Who cares if it's a documentary about things that happened way back in 1994.

See it as a historical documentary than.

  • Interessting

  • if this was filmed in 94 what happened to them

  • @000whiterabbit - I strongly suggest you learn the entire centuries long history of the Dalits by reading the Wikipedia "dalit" article.

  • @BigMTBrain Why

  • @000whiterabbit - This is definitely not meant to be a condescending statement, but... never ask "Why?" when you have an opportunity to educate yourself more fully about something. The alternative is at every turn to ask... "Why?" rather than to say "I know!".

  • @BigMTBrain condescending,,,,, NAW man

more cheek than an elephants arse,,,, YIP

  • The upper-castes have a valid beef. However, they would feel much better if they for just a second realized that the pain they feel now doesn't even register on the scale when contrasted to the degree of oppression and disrespect suffered by the Dalits for CENTURIES. It's so VERY DISGUSTING how the haves in any country whine like babies when they get an itsy bitsy taste of what it's like to be denied and to have not. Being born with a superiority complex leads to a distortion of what is fair.

  • @BigMTBrain itsy bitsy ?..explain to me how it is fair when a upper caste guy who scores an A grade in exams doesnt get admission in college, but a lower caste guy with a C grade gets it just cos he is lower caste ?

equality doesnt come by simply changing the roles of the oppressor and the oppressed...equality should mean the same deal for everyone

  • @Prometheus61086 - (part 1) - Though never completely rigid and oft-protested and overridden in several regions, how long has the caste system generally disadvantaged lower castes? Up to 2200 years, hardened during British rule, basically outlawed in 1950. How long has reservations (quotas) been instituted? About 100 years, at best. You are very young and a bit naive with an inability to empathize with GENERATIONS of the message: NO! You and your kind CANNOT advance. Stay down where you belong!.

  • @Prometheus61086 - (part 2) - For 1000s of years, that message has been ingrained into the mindsets of entire subcultures. For generations, they have been discriminated against, and education was told to be NOT their priority. The opposite carried forward within the upper castes. Limited slots. Without gov't intervention, who among the privileged would give up their spot? Would you? Ha ha. Of course not. Result: Status Quo. It's fine as long as YOU are not among the discriminated, right?

  • @Prometheus61086 - (part 3)- Yes, "itsy bitsy". No. Tit-for-tat is not fair, and that is not what the quota system is. It is not against individuals or individual performance. Ultimately it is to reverse the terrifically ingrained message to the lower castes that they are unworthy. It will take time, perhaps another 2 generations. However, the result: A positive message of "can do, will do" will pervade all of India. You think India is growing fast now? Wait 'til all its citizens are productive.

  • @Prometheus61086 - (part 4) Instead of complaining about the Have-nots being given privilege over the Haves, protesting VIOLENTLY about: RAMPANT TAX EVASION:AMONG THE HAVES in INDIA:

"...tax evasion rates hovered close to 90% as recently as 1996 and decreased to 75% to 80% only in the last years of the twentieth century (Government of India Report on Direct Taxes, 2002)."

Haves EVADE paying $Trillions in fair taxes that could be spent on more slots (jobs, schools) EVERY YEAR. Blame them.

  • @Prometheus61086 - (part 5) - Oops! I meant, $Billions. Estimated total taxes in 2011 for all states in India will be approximately US$673.35 billion. Now, let's imagine that the tax evasion rate has improved to where only 50% of taxes were evaded. That would immediately mean that $673.35 billion that could be spent on jobs and education... EVERY YEAR... are being held in the pockets of money earners. Who are the main money earners in India? The dalits? Hmm. You're young yet. You will grow.

  • @BigMTBrain P1dude the CMs of the 2 of largest states in INdia are from backward classes....those 2 states are also involved in some of the largest scams in INdia's history...the whole logic behind backward class ppl snatching things from others is cos "they rule the country and we dont"...u actually think a guy who has 10 billion and more from seedy deals cares abt caste ?..its all just a ploy...the man who put forth the idea of reservations himself didnt need reservations to get where he did

  • @Prometheus61086 - (p2) - (Corollary continued) - 1965 - Blacks in the U.S. were granted the right to vote and Affirmative Action was strengthened. Whites began to feel that Blacks were being given too many privileges. Both sides began campaigns of violence: Whites to retard the advance of Blacks; Blacks to demand fair treatment. Race riots were common across the U.S. in the late 60's and 70's. Black crime was rampant. Why? It was centuries of pent-up anger bursting at the seams.

  • @Prometheus61086 - (p3) - Finally, during the 80's and 90's, things began to settle down. Race riots were almost non-existent, there was a lot of cultural exchange happening in music, sports, even interracial marriage. Blacks were proving themselves in all sectors of society. There were and still remain some serious problems, but there is NO WAY the U.S. would be as progressive and fair as it is today if things were left to meander to equality on their own. I doubt that it EVER would have.

  • @Prometheus61086 - (p4) - Regarding CMs and the reservations guy: Yes, there will be a few who struggle and beat the tremendous odds to rise to the top. The same occurred in the U.S. before and during its transition. Several Blacks became state governors (CMs), but that didn't mean that everything was peachy. Even they faced discrimination from their colleagues. That's why they continued to struggle. Look outside of yourself. Mentally, step into "the other" shoes for just a little while.

  • @BigMTBrain P2..the only thing this reservation policy has succeeded in doing is increase the rift between ppl of different castes by putting caste on paper as part of govt policy...the caste bias would have died of its own accord as literacy rates increased and ppl stop paying attention to caste bias...but by making it part of policy it is now a political weapon for anyone who raises the caste bogey to win votes...and it has totally killed the meritocracy in this country

  • @Prometheus61086 - (p1) - A great corollary: 400 years of Black slavery in the U.S. - most Whites were just fine with that. Even after emancipation in 1863, southern Whites declared, "Everything was perfect before you freed them. Now, you've gone and pitted White against Black." Still, across the U.S., there was bigotry and inequality for Blacks. 1961 - Affirmative Action programs were instituted to reserve and promote Blacks to jobs and education to overcome rampant discrimination.

  • @BigMTBrain oh pls dont even dare to draw parallels with the Civil War...this isnt like racism..casteism is something much worse than racism and no amount of "affirmative action" is going to change that...u cant force an idea down ppl's throats, and if u do, then u r just as bad as they are...the only thing that will kill casteism is a Uniform Civil Code...something which is missing in India at present

  • @BigMTBrain oh and one other thing..most of the top champions of the equality for untouchables were upper caste, many even braved excommunication from the religion to further the equality among castes,...men like Lokmanya tilak, Veer Savarkar etc but their contribution is now ignored and cut out of the educational syllabus because they were "upper castes"...tell me if this is fair...is this "affirmative action"..is this the way to treat ppl who helped u stand as a free man in society ?

  • @Prometheus61086 - The same is true for U.S. Civil Rights; many top champs were White. WOW! How in the world does a person translate centuries of harsh slavery into just being a civil war and racism. It's obvious you don't know what American slavery of Blacks entailed: The breakup of families, whippings, beatings, rapes, lynchings, murders, and treatment as property lower than dogs. Really? It's laughable you dismiss this so easily. Your naivety makes this conversation impossible to continue.

  • @Prometheus61086 - p2 - "...the only thing that will kill casteism is a Uniform Civil Code." Good thinking. However, this is PRECISELY what happened in the U.S. between 1961 and 1965. Did it work? Ha ha ha. NO! Those who wanted to hold on to their superiority over blacks continued to do so at whatever risk of violating the law. The parallels that I'm drawing for you are real and accurate. You choose to ignore them because your mind is unable to be objective. Civil Code will change NOTHING!

  • @Prometheus61086 - p3 - As I mentioned in the first part of this response, unfortunately, your youth and the things you have chosen to expose yourself to and to consider have left you naive. Seriously, in another 10 years, you'll look back at this conversation and laugh at your current perspective. Why? Because you will have more education and exposure under your belt... hopefully. You may still hold the same view despite being more informed. The indication then will be that YOU are racist.

  • To all those ignorant people.

This still exists today and on a large scale affect tens of millions of people thorughout there daily struggles, there is a rebel faction called "Moaist rebels" who fight the Indian Government for rights for there caste which they clearly arent getting in practice. This issue should be raised so I praise journeyman for raising this issue.

    Thank you.

  • @lSaif

These people are terrorists, no sympathy for them.

  • @EikC - Treat a people like lowly beasts for centuries, don't be surprised when they rise up and become ferocious. Relegate them to cleaning up YOUR shit, don't be surprised when they start flinging it back in your face. Keep them out of the circles power, don't be surprised when they exploit every ounce when they get it. The upper castes basked in the sun while they kept the lower castes buried in the muck and stench. Now the upper castes are having to face anger and resentment THEY have bred.

  • @BigMTBrain

I forgot to direct my comment as the post I was responding to -- The one where ISaif mentioned the Maoist rebels. They are murdering terrorists, and anyone who supports them is morally bankrupt.

  • @EikC - Oh, OK. Sorry. I should've read back through the dialog. It is unfair and silly to comment on another comment without fully knowing the context. Bad, BAD self.

To your point about Maoist rebels: I don't know all that I should, but this recent post by JMP: /watch?v=GBSZdEK_Y-4 reveals that the Maoists have pulled a very nasty trick on the Dalits by deluding them to join their ranks via false promises and feigning of support for the Dalit cause.

  • @EikC that is pakistan not india bud

  • @12valvepower1

I'm referring to the Maoist-Naxalite insurgency in India. They have killed thousands of civilian.

  • the caste system is SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! death to the caste system and rich filth that encourage it

  • death to the caste system

  • hey apu nice shades hahaha

  • At least show documentaries by UK journalists

  • What a load of bollocks...

You can tell by the way those girls hold their rifles, those are only for show. Having fired one or two shots neither makes you trained in weapon handling nor allows you to properly defend yourself in case of an attack. Chances are, if they hit anything at all in case of an attack, it won't be the target they "aimed" at.

I'm all for teaching girls how to properly defend themselves, but what they're doing will only endanger everyone in their village even more.

  • @maosw Have you watched the video? They are being raped, murdered and controlled by like cattle, the only way for freedom in this case is taking up arms, imagine if every untouchable women had a gun concealed, if untouchable land was dangerous violent country against clergymen and upper casts, then they would hardly go in there without security and raping a woman would be mad cause you were prone to getting shot. Viva la Revolución!

  • @Konicava Have you actually read my comment? If you did, you obviously didn't understand it.

Just holding a rifle and pointing it in the general direction while pulling the trigger without aiming, almost falling on your ass due to the recoil and your terrible shooting stance, making it impossible to fire a follow up shot _won't do you any good_. But that's apparently all those girls are taught.

If you have to shoot to defend your life, you have to do it right. Usually you only get one chance.

  • @spe315effect have not journalists been meeting osama while he was hiding in Afghanistan?

  • Meh, another case where humans invent excuses whether it be political, religious, economical, etc to enslave or treat other humans like crap.

  • Cool to see even if it old...

  • Yeah we demand our slaves and if we dont get them we will fight. It is rough translation of that old prick.

  • wtf journeyman, what is up with you guys and 1994! At least go to tunisia and see how it is coping or even bahrain!

  • @Gr33kElite bahrain? there is no revolution in bahrain, do you see media and stuff?

it always goes like watching the media from both sides and in tunisian, egyptian, yemini, syrian cases it was obviously that the right was with the revolution guys, in bhahrain case, watch both sides of media-same process of finding truth- and judge your self, it's not bahrainies it's Iran who wanted the regim to fall

  • @faisalkfpm I do know, whats going on in egypt and tunisia since both i have friends that are living there and they are providing some information but anyways i know what is going on with Bahrain between the Shia's and sunnis it is not a revolution however the collapse of the royal family and suni power it is quite obvious but is would be interesting to see how it is dealing with the situation behind closed doors! The US started this by getting a boost from the Tunisians and then it spread!

  • @Gr33kElite yeah it would be interestig indeed

the bahraini Sunni population feels really betrayeded and angry, my sister was there it was a massacre. she saw some Shia holding sawrds and blackjacks all over the placed when she and her friends were evacuated from her uni back to KSA, I heard that the Sunnies wants wepons, kicking shia out of the country back to Iran and taking down Hussainiah (shai gathering places) cos mosques are already there

  • @faisalkfpm damn that bad i can imagin it to be that bad since the education sectors in this country are low and the religious idealogy conquers daily lives therefore there would be need for more violence!

  • @Gr33kElite partly

the shia are the ones who gather eveyday in there hussainia and build hate (AS A PRACTICE< REALLY), opposing the Sunnies, so far, a sunni goes from the school to the house, to the mosque to his friends some are Shia never get to the hatful gathering and try to live side-by-side by so called Shia brothers. now the ugly face has been exposed. when you say religioun ideology you have to know the branches and origins, practise, orientation, teaching of them

  • @Gr33kElite .continue

as enishtine said once always ask WTF is going on and never stop

  • This is 1994. Journeyman show us some new stuff

  • @siddhupiddu It's not inaccurate in many ways in regard to what's going on in Bihar in terms of caste structures, despite being dated. But the war involving the Maoists has largely moved in Jharkhand these days, as you may know. But they should explain that this is either an MCC or Party Unity camp, or at least that it's maoist. This is probably best viewed as a decent historical primary source.

  • @siddhupiddu yeah it's annoying. this documentary is practically 17 years old.

  • @siddhupiddu shit always stays the same over there...

  • back in the day, i remember seeing an article about this on usa tv too.
