I've got a really bad problem with this, first time malware has caused me problems. It still runs in safe mode and I can't get malware bytes to open which is what alot of people sais can get rid of it and has served to remove all malware for me in the past. I've tried renaming the exe file but still no luck, really stumped for what to do and there doesn't seem to be much information on this particular malware, urgh i have coursework deadlines in a week and don't have the time for this T_T help?
And anyone noticed how the first few comments all mentioned The Pirate Bay? That's exactly where I picked this pest up. I was on the contact page of the site yesterday. The browser froze, Java started, and I went to the task manager and exited the process. It worked for me, the last time Java opened out of nowhere on a site, which was last month, AVG popped up saying 6 infections have been detected. All there was, was Fake Alert. Reminds me of the time Koobface tried to infect the computer.
i had also a Fake Anti Malware program today. I removed it with MBAM and then i did make a backup of a Virtual Windows Server 2003. Then formatted my laptop
hey everyone i bring a message of great hope. there is a cure if u have windows vista, its called system restore. do a little search on ur computer and it says system restore, click and it will cure ur cpmputer, it will take a while, u can probaly find it in the acessories folder
Got the virus again but renamed Vista Antimalware. I removed it with Ad-Aware, called something like, "Fraud" and restarted. It edited something so I couldn't run exe files. I had to use a Virtual PC (Thankfully, Virtualbox is up on startup) just to get on the web. I edited the registry so I could use exe files again and installed MalwareBytes.
@Pokemon978IsBackOn the file is : \windows\System32\Drivers\svlbfd.sys it got deleted and its impossible to reinstall it unless i have a disk or new hardwaer i think
i got the same problem i did the task manger thing everytime i start firefox i go to task manger ystop it i have webroot spy sweeper and i keep cleaning my sytem i went in to scongig or sumthing and i tired manualy deleting it... at first i thought it was real when i went into securty seting on my comp thats wat it wud bring me to
@brokenboardsmedia Was "Adware: Rogue Security Products" detected? That should stop the virus. Restart the computer in safe mode, no networking, and do a system restore.
@Pokemon978IsBackOn no and i never downloaded anything a pop up came up and i was downstairs and wen i came up it was trying to download this and open command prompt so i used task manger to close it all and i scaned and reset my comp and it was there and i thought it was real at first cus i went into the control panel and went to security and thats what it wud bring me to

The reason why this is hardly detected by an antivirus is because it is Adware. That is why it seems harmless besides the fact you get popups. This thing didn't do anything to this computer except make it so whenever you open windows defender, this pest opens instead.
i have rogers anti virus ~ it scanning right now ~ the stupid vista antivirus pro thing is blocking everything. i open up mozilla firefox and/or google chrome then the firewall thing pops up i click "no let me continue" ( something like that) , it opens up , but it says it cant connect to anything cuz time ran out or something!
Do you have a clean computer with net access? Go to techsupportguy or bleepingcomputer (both . com) and create a topic in the appropriate forum. You will be assisted by a moderator, follow every instruction.
if you guys have an antivirus run a scan, and ignore the vista antivirus peace of crap, then ctrl+delete and look for the proccess av.exe and simply end that task and that will fix it.
I suggest you go and get a spare computer, download Malware-bytes, and put it on your USB drive. Then install it. There should be a scan button, click it. It will scan and remove this virus. If this does not work, go to bleepingcomputer . com and create a new topic with what is happening. Make sure it is in the right forum also. A moderator will reply. Follow EVERY single direction s/he gives.
why do you download it with no virtual pc?????????////

@TheDXDan I didn't download it on purpose. I was on TPB and this thing infected the PC.

You can remove this without spending the $50. Just get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
:) It worked perfectly for me!

@HairyPaughter I believe you can't get Vista anymore, so you gotta go get Windows 7. It's 100% better than Vista.

If Windows Security Center says the firewall is off, it isn't.
