@Tigersfan829 A whole bunch of polls had them all over the top ten. I think a poll in Sports Illustrated had them at #1. The AP had them at #8 and I think the coaches had them at #5.

Michigan clearly came out with the edge in this three-game rivalry. A close win at UM by Colorado, a close win at CU by the Wolverines and then a blowout win by Michigan at home.
@qukarlz OK, YOU KEEP THINKING YOU CORRECTED ME. EVERYBODY THAT READS ARE CONVERSATION WILL SEE MY POINT & SEE THAT YOU ARE A VERY SLOW & RETARDED PERSON. KEEP YOUR DUMBASS IN NORTH CARILONA. THAT'S WHY DUKE KICK YOUR ASS.
@qukarlz I KNOW MORON, but when they played the game WEEK ONE, we did not know that Colorado was going to have a bad year. Up to that point, Colorado was a good program that had good teams in years prior to '97. In the beginning of the season when they played, everyone assumed that Colorado was going to be good that year. They were ranked in the top 15. Like I said College Gameday was there.
@qukarlz idiot, let me slow it down for your dumb retarted mind. WHEN THEY PLAYED 1ST GAME OF THE '97 SEASON, COLORADO VS MICHIGAN WAS HYPED AS A CLASH OF 2 POWERS. COLORADO UNTIL '97, FINISH RANKED AFTER PLAYING THEIR BOWL SINCE '89 (Splitting the title in '90). No one knew how their season was going 2 turn out the first week, they were going off their past. THAT'S WHY MY COMMENTS SAID THAT DUMBASS
I remember this game very cleary. People forget that Colorado was a Power in the 90's up to this point. You know this had to be a Big Game if College Gameday was there. Colorado had some studs on this team. Rae Curruth & Matt Russell to name a few. Michigan dominated them. The score really dosen't show how bad Colorado got beat.
I'd say "dominating everywhere but the scoreboard", but 27-3 sure looks like a blowout, the highlight video pretty much speaks for itself. I don't know if Colorado had more than 5 first downs all game long. I remember some of those great Colorado teams of the past, it's amazing how far they've fallen since Rick Neuheisel poisoned them a few years ago. This would be a great rivalry to see renewed, though.
all the Hail Marys in the world could not save Colorado on this day!!!!! i was there and loving every second of it. The start of a national championship season for Michigan (sorry, Nebraska, we would have kicked your asses and you know it) and a Heisman season for C-Wood who is now with my favorite NFL team, the Packers!
anybody ever find it interesting that we scheduled the home and home w/ Colorado right around the time of the advent of the Wings-Avs rivalry in hockey?
I'm aware of that, i was just remarking how fitting it was that when one rivalry briefly sprung up between Michigan and Colorado another one was being brewed between the Wings and the Avs.
Ya not only does notrer lame get lucky all the time, but I'm finding out lately how lucky the huskers have gotten, that catch against mizzou. The pass interference against colorado. They had the band on the field and caused us to go out of bounds a few years ago in that bowl game. Get what I'm saying? The lucked their way to a share of that national title. They don't deserve that. And they had a post-game speech according to my dad that pretty much sealed and share of that title. Pieces of shit!
Don't know why Corso said it would be an upset for Colorado. Michigan was ranked NO.14 going into the game, whereas Colorado was NO.8. Oh, and for all the stupid Cornhusker fans that ant to talk shit about that 42-17 win over Tennessee, check this game out right here!!! (And then of course, there's the 34-8 win voer penn state)
Eiher way, Colorado was ranked in the top 10 gonig into this game (No.1 according to sporting news), and we SMOKED them. This victory is just as good if not better then Nebraskas 42-17 win over Tennessee.
yep! Corso will never forgive Coach Bo and the Meeecheegun team for kicking the crap out of his Loosiers repeatedly. Jealousy will get you nowhere, Lee!
The national championship season! Everything came together for UM that year; their defense was a squad of assassins, and Charles Woodson was its leader. After watching this game, I knew that that year 1997 was not going to be the same; could have been the way Michigan ran up to the line of scrimmage before each play.
Yeah, this was the win where you started hoping that maybe this would be a special team, and not another 4-loss campaign. If I'm correct, I also remember Colorado players/coaches having the gall to say to claim Nebraska was better than Michigan, having played them both. Even though they only lost 27-24 to Nebraska and if not for an offensive pass intereference on the last drive might have pulled the upset over the Huskers.
Even Keith Jackson said "this is michigan". And why is it that some have said colorado was ranked #1 when they were ranked 8th?

27-3 over Colorado in 1997 sorta makes up for losing in 1994

Michigan dominated a lot of teams in 1997 because they were a very complete team, OB, OL, Running Game, Passing Game, Defense & Coaching.

Michigan was the best this season! 1997 not 2008, but it's the voters and pollsters who hate michigan, they are the ones who gave nebraska the title.

Not to defend Corso but I think we might been favored going into the game even though we were ranked lower. I can't be sure, though.

I always knew Lee Corso hated Michigan.Guess it goes back to the Anthony Carter catch that won the game in 1979.Shoul've gone for 2 "Coach" Corso.
BluebomberX3 3 years ago
That was probably the main reason. But he was also 0-8 against Michigan. The endless ass kickings probably didn't help.

Michigan ran a TBC defense, Tackle the Ball Carrier defense. the only NFL team that doesn't run it is the Detroit Lions
