In my opinion a true soap opera theme. Too bad they didn't bring this back for the last week of the show's run. Damn they didn't even have one last credit crawl. When Edge of Night ended its run on ABC they played the slow C&B theme and a proper credit crawl. It was bitter sweet.

@adelgado75 Those were different times though. It's all about ad dollars and the programmers don't care enough to give the soap geeks one last credits hurrah. I can understand it from a business perspective but I don't like it.

@Mraltima99 Funny, this is my least favorite opening. It started just weeks before Douglas Marland's death, and the complete collapse of a once great show. This opening just signifies the beginning of the end for me.

This opening music still makes me sad all my tween years come back when i first started watching this show in 1994, so much has changed on the show, yet the characters still feel like home to me. When this show ends i will no longer have a soap to watch in the afternoons, and i'm pretty angry about that. This is by far the best soap ever! And CBS is the most stupid network to cancel the show, i'm hoping it will get picked up by another network because i have no idea how they would end this show!

Im not the crying kind, but if this theme gets played on the final show i dont think Im gonna be able to take it. ESPEACIALLY if its played at the very end of the final show, cause this theme more than any other one gives off a feeling of a final spin, and final goodbye.

As The World Turns has better ratings then General Hospital and One Life To Live but yet CBS has decided to cancel this awesome soap. I just don't understand it. The acting and storylines on ATWT are top-notch and riveting!! Some network please pick up this beloved soap, you won't be disappointed and neither will the many countless fans. LONG LIVE ATWT!!!

Although ATWT has been doing better in Household ratings against the ABC soaps at times, it has lower Women 18-49 ratings and thats what counts. Shows in primetime like Family Guy can command higher ad dollars despite being lower rated overall because their 18-49 ratings are higher. Still sucks though that ATWT is gone :(

Such a beautiful tune and graphics. This is the theme and opening I will always associate with "the show" as it is called in my family... we never call it "As the World Turns."

I can't believe it is ending, it has been part of my life for so long. I won't even miss it until it's gone though, the end still seems sooo far off.

It's like, I know it's gonna be over soon but it has just always been there. Even when it's been crappy I knew I could always go back. Not so anymore.

Lets write to Cbs, and ask them if they can use this theme for the remainder of the show's run! I'd also like to see the old PGP Logo during the rest of it too! I absolutely loved that little tune that went with the PGP Logo back in the 90's! It'd be a great way to end it! I wish it didn't have to end, but sadly, that's what happens when money-hungry executives put what they want, which of course is money, above what the viewers want, which are good story lines for all the characters.

CBS doesn't a CENSORED about what the views want. ATWT is the last Proctor and Gamble produced soap opera. CBS has to pay P&G a fee to air the show. That model no longer works.

By that, I mean, we had a still shot of the title logo instead of continuous movement that was normally seen. Very hard to explain, but I have one of those episodes that features this.

Never really liked this version-- it represents the downward spiral of my favorite show. Headwriter Douglas Marland died shortly after they started using it, and the show's quality literally changed overnight.

This opening was cool but I think the one before this one was the best. Growing up, I watched One Life to Live (still do) but one day the tv was on cbs and I saw the theme from the late 80's. And I was like WOW, that was tight. I do watch World Turns now, I wish they would go back to the other theme from the late 80's and just jazz it up a little.

Yes. That was Terry Lester, who originated the role of Jack Abbott on Y&R.

Alot of my friends told me how much better Terry Lester was in the role than Peter Bergman who plays him now. But Peter is the only one I knew as Jack Abbott at the time.

I've seen Terry in his past performances as Jack Abbott and he was really the better one playing Jack the bad boy.

Peter's "Jack" is more of a softer character with more heart.

This was defiently my favorite ATWT opening. I loved the closing just as much. I was so mad in '99 when they did away with the closing songs on soaps, it was right before ATWT changed the opening to that God awful 99'02 version. I would always turn the sound off when that opening would come on.

In 1991, the Museum of Broadcasting in Chicago used that theme for its "Summer of Soaps" celebration on ATWT. Someone at the time said "that would make a great theme"... and two years later, there it was. Someone must have listened.
