@ferrarimike23 Don't preach here, you're using selective hearing, noting only the "energy". He was basically stating that he believes in a higher power that we all call "God". @lightside4 its obvious that he isn't agnostic because he planely admits that he believes something has "had a helping hand" in numerous of his life events thus proving he thinks, though may not be able to prove, that there is something that is"transcendent" or "metaphysical". So i think that for you to say he is agnostic is your opinion and you shouldn't try to say he is something when i'ts not your decision to say so.

@UKwildcats2121 why do people always say that about almost every celeb interview. and he doesnt just sing for disturbed, he is the bands leader/frontman.
@walrustusk70 It is impossible to live while believing in nothing. That would mean you don't believe that everything around you is real and life isn't real. You would kill yourself, or go insane.

@majdank What you said made perfect sense man, you can tell in his lyrics he is very intellegent and he knows his stuff, and that's one of the reasons they are such a great band.
Triple major. No wonder the lyrics on their last album blew me away. Honestly not even my favorite band the lyrics were so symbolic, deep, and well written it really impressed me.
haha u have no idea, man, or what ever i should call you, if you let god into your soul and heart, he will enlighten you, and you will enjoy everything alot more, you would live a more satisfying life, but since you choose not to believe, you dont know what youre missing out on, its a great life, really, but if thats your way, then its your choice... live life the way you want
I don't believe in the "ignorance is bliss theory". How do you know "god" isn't already in my heart and soul? Just because it isn't "your god"? I believe in truth and I would rather not be a "sheep" in some flock. Nor am I interested in being controlled or manipulated by some guy in a suit on a podium who thinks he's better than I am because he "has a direct line to god". Everywhere else? That's called schizophrenia. You don't need to be "Christian" to be a good person.
you have made good points, i understand being christian is not the only thing that makes you a good person, but it makes me a better person than i once was, we both have points i can say, but we both know, we cant change eachother, but i do know one thing, the lord has changed me, and he can change you too if you allow him to, you dont have to listen to this advice, but i know we all have something that needs to be changed about us, even me, and thats why i turned to god, thats all i need to say
I also grew up "going to church". Extraordinary experiences through out my life brought me to a state of reason (to use a celeb reference, similar to George Carlin to a degree). Even though you know nothing about me and vise versa, I know I have very valid points and arguments to back up why I "know" religion is wrong. It's just a control scheme to keep people like you scared and "in line" with a false sense of security (in a generalized sense) Religion is a tool for the rulers.
@Denji2006 Religion can certainly be a tool for rulers, but so can naturalism and humanism (been reading the history books on the previous century much?) Maybe in your experience religion was more of a negative influence in your life than another person, but it's only your experience so you can't extract such an absolute claim and use your own experience as proof for everyone.
Sorry, but "just a control scheme" is wildy selective, most religions start as a grass-roots persecuted movement.
Religions are the roots and origins of almost everything today. It is not "wildly selective" and not entirely based solely on personal negative experiences. When has religion actually helped anybody? I mean truly. Not apart of any bullshit delusion or denials they constantly try to shove down everyone's throats? It is generalized. Why do you think so many people are instantly made as "aggressive recruiters", "trying to save people"? The best soldiers are ignorant, correct?
Well if you can't take the personal testimony of billions of people from various religions who say their religion has made a positive impact in their personal life, there's no reason your personal testimony should be taken serious either, so an argument is pointless.
Religion as a tool for the government is almost always or always an evil vice, but as a personal grass-roots conviction it is often (not always) a hedge against lawless a society.
But it's just false pretenses into thinking "god is looking out for them" or "some invisible man in the sky has bias over them to get what they want" When in fact, "positive impacts" were done by themselves and by the people around them. You don't need religion to be a good person and to do great things. There is a misconception where religious people are "good by default" and you're considered "bad" if you're not. It's denial of a reality they cannot face (or haven't been exposed to)
"False pretenses" means someone operating with ulterior motives what you mean to say is perhaps it's a "misconception." Also, David specifically said he is not religious. Also, surviving a motorcycle accident has nothing to do with someone doing anything to create a "positive impact." I am not religious, but I appreciate some people have their beliefs, and I say "live and let live." Some religious people are close-minded, but most I've encountered are not and they've found what works for them.
All is really offered are blanket solutions to question that even those "so called" religious leaders who "claim" to "have a link to god", can't even fathom an answer to. All of that would just fall under that "ignorance is bliss" claim as is claimed by those very religions that "knowledge is evil and wrong". The knowledge "outside" of the cloud of BS that would question and counter anything that's been pounded into their brains. It's written all over the damn thing, to protect itself.
@Denji2006 I notice that when people attack religion (Specifically the Catholic Church) They have no idea what they are talking about. Go learn more about the stuff your talking about before you hate it.
@TheZaphodicus lol I assume that you "do"? It isn't complicated and much more simplistic than you think. It's what it boils down to. You're just lashing because your belief system has been "offended" in some way.
So to borrow your last line of text, I would suggest you do the same :p
It is a tool through and through because it is woven into everyday life. That's where the control lies. It's all "ruling parties". Not just certain government bodies. You think it's the "big lakes" that matter? No, it's the "collection of little ponds" where most of the power lies. Religion is the easiest control scheme etched in stone. Besides, it's far from being "against a lawless society" as religion has proven that rather "selective" for thousands of years. "Rules of my camp"
Religion is simply not *always* a control tool through and through, I'm sorry if you can't see that. It often is, but it isn't by definition a tool of control, and to blindly rest all our evil rulers responsibility is not targeting the right enemy. It's not religion, it's people that are the problem.
By that logic, everything created by people is a problem. My point was that the construct of religion is not the problem, but certain people who use it as a tool for a control. Some people use religion for good, look at all the charity people do in the name of religion. People do charity without religion, too, and people exhort control without religion as well -- just look at the nationalistic regimes of the last century.
Not really "everything". But a lot of the ruling structures of society are based on self interest and greed. I agree with your statements of political structures as well. But religion is a construct of self interest. I'm sorry, but a lot of "charity" use that as a vector to "convert" people. "Believe in our god and all your problems will be solved" Everything about religion is control. Thinking, conduct, personality. We may have the likes of fascism and nationalism. But there's always a source.
What a darling. I love his mouth. He said something in another interview (I'm paraphrasing here) about 'whatever [spiritual] beliefs make you feel stronger' that I found profound...I don't believe in a god, but I have a new affection for those who do.
Ive heard..... i guess rumors about how david has killed multiple people in the military and what not. Can somebody give me some insight on this please?
i have no idea how the hell you got that info, who told you that? wow, sounds weird, i don't think thats true buddy, he's a dude from Chicago, went to college, graduated, 3 majors, was thinking of becoming a lawyer, didn't started auditions for Rock Bands, got tired, said screw it as he walked into an audition, turns out it was for a band called Brawl, he was very forward, acted like he owned the place, band liked that attitude, of lets jam, boom, he's the Singer for brawl, name change Disturbed
he is intelligent, he does know what he's talking about, and i like the fact that he doesn't write music in poems, like some band we KNOW!!, haha, anyway, yeah if you have degrees, then you can pretty much say what you want, by the way, where are you going with this, why are you so bent to go against something simple i said.
I feel there is a presence and goes by many many many names. I grew up in a religion but I dont practice it. I use what I feel in my heart as the guide. I always believed the book (s) were there as guides for people who need them. Then there are others who already have been given that wisdom and dont need a compass to find their way, to tell them what is right and wrong or what the meaning of unconditional love means. I hoep Im making sense LOL! I feel and I believe.
He uses his brain. He has an extremely sharp, analytical sensibility. No one could ever fool or screw him over in any way possible...and they wouldn't want to anyway.
This interview was a disappointment. David should have spent more time studying religion and he would have realized that it's phony. Just because something is coincidental by no means suggests that something "transcendental" caused it. Logical fallacies all over this one!
You miss my point. You are right, religion can't be proven or disproven, but people can believe whatever they want whether its made up or a current religion
I understand your point, and I agree completely that people have the right to believe in whatever they choose, whether it is believing a religion in its entirety, or mixing different parts of different religion, making their own beliefs entirely, or choosing not to have a faith at all.
In my beliefs, we cannot bring people from the dead because they have moved on to whatever is next for their essence, or being, or whatever you may call it.
You don't have to believe in a set religion. Believe in whatever you want to, only you know what is right and wrong for yourself. No one else does, no matter how close they are to you.
Agree too. What ever religion that makes you feel stronger, and at peace and helps you get from one day to the next get into that, whatever that may or may not be.
What he said about being watched over, i feel the same way. Im not sure if i beleive in the god of the bible because people have just tainted it so much, but i do beleive in a higher being cuz ive been in similar accidents where i should be dead, but i made it thru..
I love how David seems so commited to his " Jewish " beliefs. He tells people hes Jewish.. Im nor even a jew, and I know hes a sacraligious disgrace. I mean come on guys, just because his music is badass, doesn't mean he's a god, and that you have to rise to his defense at the slightest offense. Denji2006. Why don't you believe in God?
WanderingJedi 2 years ago
haha u have no idea, man, or what ever i should call you, if you let god into your soul and heart, he will enlighten you, and you will enjoy everything alot more, you would live a more satisfying life, but since you choose not to believe, you dont know what youre missing out on, its a great life, really, but if thats your way, then its your choice... live life the way you want
JacobStupify3 2 years ago
@JacobStupify3
Denji2006 2 years ago
you have made good points, i understand being christian is not the only thing that makes you a good person, but it makes me a better person than i once was, we both have points i can say, but we both know, we cant change eachother, but i do know one thing, the lord has changed me, and he can change you too if you allow him to, you dont have to listen to this advice, but i know we all have something that needs to be changed about us, even me, and thats why i turned to god, thats all i need to say
JacobStupify3 2 years ago
@JacobStupify3
Denji2006 2 years ago
@Denji2006 Religion can certainly be a tool for rulers, but so can naturalism and humanism (been reading the history books on the previous century much?) Maybe in your experience religion was more of a negative influence in your life than another person, but it's only your experience so you can't extract such an absolute claim and use your own experience as proof for everyone.
Sorry, but "just a control scheme" is wildy selective, most religions start as a grass-roots persecuted movement.
EnonimusTransmission 2 years ago
Religions are the roots and origins of almost everything today. It is not "wildly selective" and not entirely based solely on personal negative experiences. When has religion actually helped anybody? I mean truly. Not apart of any bullshit delusion or denials they constantly try to shove down everyone's throats? It is generalized. Why do you think so many people are instantly made as "aggressive recruiters", "trying to save people"? The best soldiers are ignorant, correct?
Denji2006 2 years ago
"When has religion actually helped anybody? "
EnonimusTransmission 1 year ago
But it's just false pretenses into thinking "god is looking out for them" or "some invisible man in the sky has bias over them to get what they want" When in fact, "positive impacts" were done by themselves and by the people around them. You don't need religion to be a good person and to do great things. There is a misconception where religious people are "good by default" and you're considered "bad" if you're not. It's denial of a reality they cannot face (or haven't been exposed to)
Denji2006 1 year ago
"False pretenses" means someone operating with ulterior motives what you mean to say is perhaps it's a "misconception." Also, David specifically said he is not religious. Also, surviving a motorcycle accident has nothing to do with someone doing anything to create a "positive impact." I am not religious, but I appreciate some people have their beliefs, and I say "live and let live." Some religious people are close-minded, but most I've encountered are not and they've found what works for them.
chatterbox11 1 year ago
All is really offered are blanket solutions to question that even those "so called" religious leaders who "claim" to "have a link to god", can't even fathom an answer to. All of that would just fall under that "ignorance is bliss" claim as is claimed by those very religions that "knowledge is evil and wrong". The knowledge "outside" of the cloud of BS that would question and counter anything that's been pounded into their brains. It's written all over the damn thing, to protect itself.
Denji2006 1 year ago
@Denji2006 I notice that when people attack religion (Specifically the Catholic Church) They have no idea what they are talking about. Go learn more about the stuff your talking about before you hate it.
TheZaphodicus 1 year ago
@TheZaphodicus lol I assume that you "do"? It isn't complicated and much more simplistic than you think. It's what it boils down to. You're just lashing because your belief system has been "offended" in some way.
So to borrow your last line of text, I would suggest you do the same :p
Denji2006 1 year ago
It is a tool through and through because it is woven into everyday life. That's where the control lies. It's all "ruling parties". Not just certain government bodies. You think it's the "big lakes" that matter? No, it's the "collection of little ponds" where most of the power lies. Religion is the easiest control scheme etched in stone. Besides, it's far from being "against a lawless society" as religion has proven that rather "selective" for thousands of years. "Rules of my camp"
Denji2006 1 year ago
Religion is simply not *always* a control tool through and through, I'm sorry if you can't see that. It often is, but it isn't by definition a tool of control, and to blindly rest all our evil rulers responsibility is not targeting the right enemy. It's not religion, it's people that are the problem.
EnonimusTransmission 1 year ago
But people have created religion. Hence the problem.
Denji2006 1 year ago
By that logic, everything created by people is a problem. My point was that the construct of religion is not the problem, but certain people who use it as a tool for a control. Some people use religion for good, look at all the charity people do in the name of religion. People do charity without religion, too, and people exhort control without religion as well -- just look at the nationalistic regimes of the last century.
EnonimusTransmission 1 year ago
Not really "everything". But a lot of the ruling structures of society are based on self interest and greed. I agree with your statements of political structures as well. But religion is a construct of self interest. I'm sorry, but a lot of "charity" use that as a vector to "convert" people. "Believe in our god and all your problems will be solved" Everything about religion is control. Thinking, conduct, personality. We may have the likes of fascism and nationalism. But there's always a source.

What a darling. I love his mouth. He said something in another interview (I'm paraphrasing here) about 'whatever [spiritual] beliefs make you feel stronger' that I found profound...I don't believe in a god, but I have a new affection for those who do.

i have no idea how the hell you got that info, who told you that? wow, sounds weird, i don't think thats true buddy, he's a dude from Chicago, went to college, graduated, 3 majors, was thinking of becoming a lawyer, didn't started auditions for Rock Bands, got tired, said screw it as he walked into an audition, turns out it was for a band called Brawl, he was very forward, acted like he owned the place, band liked that attitude, of lets jam, boom, he's the Singer for brawl, name change Disturbed
jmt1000 2 years ago 6
so getting majors in law and such have something to do with music? wow i missed something somewhere.
synysterXsteve 2 years ago
No, but it adds credibility to your music...
he is intelligent, he does know what he's talking about, and i like the fact that he doesn't write music in poems, like some band we KNOW!!, haha, anyway, yeah if you have degrees, then you can pretty much say what you want, by the way, where are you going with this, why are you so bent to go against something simple i said.
jmt1000 2 years ago 3
I feel there is a presence and goes by many many many names. I grew up in a religion but I dont practice it. I use what I feel in my heart as the guide. I always believed the book (s) were there as guides for people who need them. Then there are others who already have been given that wisdom and dont need a compass to find their way, to tell them what is right and wrong or what the meaning of unconditional love means. I hoep Im making sense LOL! I feel and I believe.

This interview was a disappointment. David should have spent more time studying religion and he would have realized that it's phony. Just because something is coincidental by no means suggests that something "transcendental" caused it. Logical fallacies all over this one!
Syclone0044 3 years ago
Ever heard that people can believe in what they want to believe?Be it christianity, hiduism, buddhism or nothing at all.
walrustusk70 3 years ago 20
Or make up their own beliefs, or mix believes.
Religion is something that cannot be proven nor disproven. We can't drag people back from the dead.
It's just there. Some parts of religion I agree with and I understand. Other parts...I find completely ludacris.
Astrotrain52 3 years ago 7
You miss my point. You are right, religion can't be proven or disproven, but people can believe whatever they want whether its made up or a current religion
walrustusk70 3 years ago 5
btw its spelt ludicrous :)
walrustusk70 3 years ago
I understand your point, and I agree completely that people have the right to believe in whatever they choose, whether it is believing a religion in its entirety, or mixing different parts of different religion, making their own beliefs entirely, or choosing not to have a faith at all.
Astrotrain52 2 years ago
In my beliefs, we cannot bring people from the dead because they have moved on to whatever is next for their essence, or being, or whatever you may call it.
BradBallanger 2 years ago
If you would pay attention he states he believes in a higher power but he's not sure whether it's god or whatever.
suitepee2008 2 years ago 4
That's exactly what we're trying to say.
You don't have to believe in a set religion. Believe in whatever you want to, only you know what is right and wrong for yourself. No one else does, no matter how close they are to you.
Astrotrain52 2 years ago 2
agreed mate :)
walrustusk70 2 years ago
Agree too. What ever religion that makes you feel stronger, and at peace and helps you get from one day to the next get into that, whatever that may or may not be.
