Why is the title Long John Silvers when they are at an A&W?

The name of the restaurant is Long John Silver's at which they serve A&W products.

That's his story and he's sticking to it...why, he's as sober as a judge. Which explains why he was arrested later that day for driving his car up the courthouse steps ;-)
