steve man this is whats missing in your new vids, you old vids are alot longer, you talk about the games longer and you talk about other teams, also, you bash other plays alot more if ya know what i mean.(and your alot more random lmao)
We have always been land of the goalies, for real.. We have/had few decent players(for example Teemu Selänne and Jari Kurri),but our goalies, aaah. :D Toskala,Kiprusoff,Rask,Lehtonen,Rämö,Bäckström,Toivonen,Norrena..
To be more specific about Backstrom's name "sounding like Swedish": the name _is_ 100% Swedish. Sweden ruled Finland for a couple hundred years and tried to "swedify" the area. Thus, a lot of Finnish people still have Swedish names and some of them still speak Swedish. Quite unfortunate, as even the NHL website has mistakenly called Nik "Swedish" a couple of times.
Another example of a Finnish goalie that has a foreign name is Miikka Kiprusoff (a Russian last name). Finland has been under the rule of both Sweden and Russia, so there are some Finns even in the NHL whose names don't resemble Finnish.
PS. Aki Berg has a Swedish last name; blame THAT for his suckiness ;)
"Finland has always had great goalies, and probably always will. Being goalie suits Finns well. Infamous for being quiet, stoic, and not very social, it's like Finns were born goalies. What better position for a Finn than goalie, where he can stand alone in front of the net, covered by a mask, and fight alone against the world?"
white isnt a RFA, but Stajan, Wellwood, Steen all are with Sundin, Belak (THE WRATH), Pohl and Wozniewshit are all UFA's. We will be at 42 million without those contracts...not great...lol
about next years cap, we also will be paying toskala 4 million instead of the 1+ hes making this year. its a must to lose raycroft over the summer or before because we will be really close to the limit. also, not sure but will white be a RFA? im lazy to look it up..lol
Lord Jesus, please protect us from any more videos about the leafs. Steve, why don't we just record you drunk in Derek's basement, its way better than hockey recap videos.
That's awesome beyond all measure. He's at least in the top 3 for most extremem people I've ever met. He showed me the BME pain Olympics. I screamed. So did Derek, which is scarier.
Alex ovechkin has always wanted to come to Toronto, if washington bombs this season then ovechkin will want to move. So offer sheets get offered to a team and they have to accept or reject it, with washington having only 30 million in cap room, They will obviously resign. Offer sheet washington 1 year deal for 6 million dollars, They accept it, Then 2009, sign him as a UFA...
The Washington Capitals have already said that they intend on signing Ovechkin. He has held out thus far, presumably because he wants out of Washington. If he gets signed to an offer sheet for the league maximum, Washington has the right to agree to those terms, and they will. But it would be nice to see him in the Blue and white....
I won't happen :P. And any team crazy enough to go out and claim him from Washington, better have a good, young core, because they have to give up FOUR 1st round picks according to the new CBA.
There are teams that could do it. Think about it; If you had 4 first round draft picks in successive years, do you honestly think you could draft a player with even half as much skill? Trade them away for a franchise player.
If Toronto somehow managed to do this, they would have to get back some draft picks through other trades, and continue building. But let's face it...we are dreaming....But what a fucking dream!
That'd count for every Christmas / Birthday present for the rest of my life. Doesn't Anahiem have a few picks from Edmonton, still? I duno how they'd make space. AH to hell with it, he's staying on Washington. Here's a scary though: as of right now, the Penguins have enough cap room for Ovechkin. haha again, dreaming.
*sigh* ,Kubina's stick breaks. That is just plain unlucky. Another game and the playoff hopes for Leafs slowly dissapear. Well lets hope we can go at least 2-0-1 in our next 3 games. Well I guess at least some fans will get of McCabe's back now.
I've been off of McCabe's back since the last Ottawa game. He had to put up or shut up, and man did he put up. He has ever since. It's just the ballard curse that he'd break his damn hand.
did some one take a hand saw to Kubina's sticks? he broke two of them bad luck in the last minute again. The leafs looked kinda dead for the first two periods they turned on in the third and Toskala did play amazing he's an amazing goalie as much as I hate to admit it JFJ did a good job signing him. We're 11th in the standings now (tied for 9th but we've played more games) I figure we'll have to win 16 of our next 20 to have a chance in the playoffs but im keepin' the faith GO LEAFS!!!
Leaf fans have to be able to pat somebody on the back when they do well, even if they hate them. JFJ is somebody I'm willing to pat on the back. He's made some good moves. OVERALL, I'd say he's made some bad moves, and I'll never forgive him for trading Rask, but he's done a few things right. If he trades away anymore picks I might lose my mind.
If they are going to snap out of it then it would be nice for the invisable line of Tucker, Wellwood, and Blake to get going. Especially Tucker ane Welly look very lackluster. Blake just trys to go end to end every time but at least he's trying. Tough break (no pun intened) with Kabina. Him and Hal are really picking up the slack in my opinion. Good news, Carlo is playing with the Mariles tonight.
That's great news! Carlo is one of the few Leafs that can throw LEGIT body checks. Watch, he'll be like Antropov: If he can just bloody stay healthy he'll be great. I've always liked Carlo and I hope he can come back strong after such a long layoff

When did Finland become land of the goalies? It's strange. It's a great hockey nation.

You can't judge by names where somebody's from anymore :P Good luck doing that here. It's very multicultural (Toronto, anyway)

Well, come on, it's Aki Berg! Finns need some excuse for what he became :D

Pff I'd rather record his buddy from Pittsburgh's antics. That guy's nuts. Beside, youtube doesn't allow nudity.

Granted, Alex ought to be recorded. I carried him down an entire flight of stairs that night, dropped him twice, and he never noticed.

6mil? where'd you come up with that number?
SteveDangle 4 years ago
Don't want to offer them 10 mil, then have to give up 4 1st rounders incase they do accept.
dustin391yahoo 4 years ago
It's a steep payment. Y'know, I might actually pay that for Ovechkin...IF I wasn't the Leafs. No cap room, no picks, no deal.
