@95lisa76 It may be a cat some call a jagarundi (spelling?) from South America. They may have migrated here through Mexico. We now have a couple of videos which show several of them in the area. They are a smaller cat with shorter legs, and striped tail. The stand about a foot tall.
@jjrrhh11 Got an extra game camera in your hip pocket? I'll take it. Or you can make a donation through my web site in the section Products and Services.
dont let the dogs fool you- weve owned several that can skin a tree like a cat- the last one was 1/2 wolf and 1/2 samoyed- hed chase his prey up the tree and if they didnt jump hed get them- so some dogs can climb a tree-- just saying...thanks for the video
I say raccoon. If you look at the length of the longest whisker at 0:04 and compare to the longest side of the ear at 0:14, they are about the same length. Also, the whiskers are thicker, fewer in number, and some are "curved" or "bent" towards the end. - I'd say a raccoon.
Considering the fact that deer and elk both stand on their hind legs to forage tender shoots in trees I see no reason not to think that it is either one of these ungulants.
i mean how high is the cam ?? how big do you think the "ear" is compard with the view on the cam ??.and i notist the "ear" only moved when the body did ,i would think night animal would be alert to sound and ear would be movin left and right and up and down lookin for sound but i did not see that .are you sure its a ear ?
My opinion is Cougar, the ears look about right if you ask me.
It's obviously some kind of large cat from the small cat grouping, (hence the pointy ears). Of which the Puma Concolor happens to be the largest member. Panthera have rounded ears. Your comparison photos of Concolor don't really show the ears too well.
However as usual it's a great job by you getting super shots with your cams. Is this s from VR or WC areas?
is there any way it could be a marten?
gchritian712 1 week ago
@gchritian712 I suppose Martin's climb trees. I guess it could be possible.
SUSANFARNS 1 week ago
@SUSANFARNS I thought Martens have rounded ears also, kinda similar to the weasels' and wolverines'. Don't know. Could a cat maybe climbed up there?

Another thought, I have rehabilitated oppossum before and their ears and whiskers, and the fact that they are arboreal would make them a good match.
