I guess it makes sense that we can not vote for our choice in both party's primary elections. I like Obama's idea that the government use our tax dollars to finance campaigns, because it offers more fairness to candidates already knocked out before most citizens had a voice in the process.

HI father is a Muslim, and he had his grade school years in Indonesia, a muslim country. In that country, society and familial rules expected him to be a Muslim. As a child, he was a muslim, and he benefitted from being a muslim. He is now a Christian.

Just the same, it appears that his past and current religion are gay-bashers.

He was a kid, his mom took him wherever she went and can you blame him for that and say he is not electable because he set foot in Indonesia for enough time to attend some elementary schooling. If anything he has a better global perspective than the rest of us sitting here judging the world through a TV. Im not saying that he should not be elected because he is muslim. In fact, I agree with Obama when he says that he can actually talk to Muslim countries better because he grew in one.

What I dont agree with is the innate bias that men who grew up in Muslim counties have against gays. and the bias that strict fundamentalist Christians have against gays.

Well he grew up in the United States, a country that is intolerant of gays. And he's a member of the United Church of Christ, a subsect of Christianity which has nominal members who persecute gays in the name of religion. So you're almost right in spite of yourself.

Barack grew up in Indonesia, too. A Muslim country who provides diffenrential benefits to Muslims over Christians. Barack benefited from that because he was classified as a Muslim - bsed on his lineage.

Now, I am not saying that he was a devout muslim (his mother after all is an atheist) but in Indonesia, no one had doubts that he was a Muslim. No one. The basic assumption is, you are born a Muslim, unless you convert.

And yes he converted. He became a Christian. Good for him.
