I LOVE the music. But the choreography and colour schemes kill me.

Of course, these guys and gals are all amazingly talented, but my big problem with commercialized a cappella, be it albums or TV shows like this one is it's too self-indulgent. It's all just a bit much. Commercial a cappella albums today are over produced and lathered in auto-tune. I get that TV performances like this need to be sold, and I think it's great that a cappella is getting so much recognition now, as a director of an a cappella group myself, but everything about it seems so fake to me

@m8cct even though some of these may be pre-recorded before performance, many of these groups actually sound this live and in person.

@pianosidechat I agree that little quality is lost when the top groups actually do this stuff live, but I've performed alongside a few groups that have been on the sing-off, and others still who are just as good, and I would say that their raw live performances have a much different feel to them.

@rasnv1 Well.. 1. I auditioned with my group for the show in NYC and was given a call back to the next day. 2. We were selected for the Top 30 and given contracts to review and sign. 3. I personally know the music directors/producers of the show. and 4. I also personally know several of the competitors... so yes.. I have my facts straight. Thanks.

ELO version (original) is of course excellent... but for all the people criticizing sharply, remember ELO was one group, they wrote and practiced the song. These guys are many groups coming together for a short while, and to say they had to sing and dance AND make the music without instruments, i think it was pretty darn good!

I'm glad nota won because nota is a better overall singing group. Don't get me wrong the bubs are amazing but half of what makes them so good is there corkyness and what they do onstage. You don't get that on a record or on a song

Their quirkiness of the bubs has no bearing on their vocal skill which definitely showed itself during the competition. Close your eyes and listen to Sweet Caroline or their Who compilation and tell me they weren't spot on.

And at least they could sing a song start to finish without extensively changing it...

I love how they're all wearing different colors. An amazing way to start off the show! This is far better than any intro to the American Idol shows...I am an Idol fan, but to be honest...this out-did any that I have heard on Idol.
