  • @jesusdelriodeaguilar Guthrie Govan, Daniele Gottardo, Marshall Harrison. And those are only the electric guitar players.

  • If steve vai is playing is because he has an idea about music .also if you cant feel anything playing like him maybe is because this isnt your music style

  • 0:06 "I Know you Here"

  • pure shit, just noise

  • @S0D41 if you are musician do not say it to anyone.....

  • @VictorMRSilva im a musician, maybe a shouldn't say this is pure shit, sry, but I didn't liked what he did... I love music that really shows feeling, like For the Love of God, the kind music I love is Blues and classic rock...

  • @S0D41 I agree 100%. Guys like Vai have no idea about music. They're just perfectionists & technicians. I'm not suggesting Vai isn't an incredible player, because he is, but he just feels he has to play exotic scales & chord progressions because he can. He turns music into white noise. This just sounds like a soulless machine.

  • @whitbyjet65 YES. you got what i wanted to say.

  • @whitbyjet65 that is the most lame comment ive ever heard

  • @Frederikguitar1234 Most lame? You mean lamest. Please gain a decent command of the English language before trying to engage in conversation. Now I really must go, as I can't abide any more of this meaningless noise pollution supplied by Mr Vai.

  • @whitbyjet65 this is not a grammar school sucker besides steve vai is definently not a douche he is a guitar virtuoso playing what he enjoys the most and u cant blame him that nor me for telling u it.

  • @Frederikguitar1234 Oh so you think being able to communicate correctly is just something you do at grammar school? Right!

  • @whitbyjet65 It seems to me that when you can't win an argument, you try an insult someone's grammar? Seriously, this is too immature. Grow up, enjoy music. If you don't like Vai, don't listen to his music. It's as simple as that.

  • @FarezRulz Incorrect! When I've won an argument, I become bored & therefore correct people's spelling & grammar, & make them into better people. You see! I'm an all round good egg.

  • @whitbyjet65 well some one had too

  • @dvpkid You mean 'to' not 'too'.

  • he is the best!!!

  • Tuneless crap.

  • @whitbyjet65 eh. He's just kinda wingin' it you know? :)

  • How can ayone dislike this?

  • i know you're here ;)

  • Стив,супер!

  • Aaaaaaaaah, você é muito foda, eu vou te matar '-'

  • god

  • Game that touch liver

  • I freaking LOVE his tone.

  • He uses farmiliar ideas in this as he does in the song "i know your here"

  • Tut tut! Would you look at the state of those jeans. Until he can learn to dress appropriately, I for one will be taking all future musical influences from the immaculately turned out "Cliff Richard" :) ... And for heavens sake Steve, TUCK IN THAT SHIRT!

  • EVO never had gold hardware. EVO always had the black and chrome mix. FLO, his newer white Ibanez JEM is the one you're thinking of, with the gold hardware.

  • @RojoYamamoto I'm afraid you're wrong, man.

About EVO: Evo was one of 5 7v guitars given to Steve in the mid 90's by Ibanez when they first made this model. He has made several changes to it (lots of bridges and 3 necks, if i'm right). So EVO was a white guitar with gold hardware. (you can se Steve playin' it in the Alien Love Secrets videoclips like the Bad Horsie one or the Tender Surrender one.

About FLO: Flo was a Jem 77FP (Floral pattern) painted white.

  • you can how evo sounds different, what happened to evos gold hardware?

  • @61SGman He changes the bridge about once a year or so, as stated on his website. My guess is he doesn't really care what color the hardware is, so long as it works

  • @ConklinTa its probably more because the orginal one that ibanez puts out gives you nothing to rest your hand on.....it gets tiring when your hands sliding off all the time...the only reason that guitars expensive anyway is because his name is on it...I perfer the js's and ericjohnson strats over his sig anyway :)

  • @metachozoite I own a JS. It's awesome. However, I prefer the larger frets on the JEM.

  • @ConklinTa I playe done at guitar center last week....ehh i liked the js because of teh sustain and weight and body shap and the eric johnson strat because its just like a vintage strat...have you played one of those? there BAYONE great guitars.

  • @metachozoite I have, yes, they're nice, I'm just not a big strat guy. I like the JEM, I thought it had better sustain, but it also greatly depends on the amp/equipment. I put the DiMarzio Evolutions in my JS, and I love it.

  • Notice the Ahura-Mazda Sun God on his Chest, he's a Luciferian

  • people don't realise how hard it is to master that kind of phrasing, every bit as hard as insane shredding, sometimes harder!

  • i recognise this song!!!! its an excerpt frm ' i know you are here '..he uses his tripleneck for that in dnver g3....damn good 1

  • steve vai uses line6 amps

  • @kellyisvlogging he uses his own carvin legacy's

  • @kellyisvlogging he uses his own carvin legacy's in this video he is using his fender

  • @kellyisvlogging no he doesn't.

  • i love his sound! i'd kill for it!

  • I just love it when Steve plays an arpeggio from the lowest of notes to the highest frets of his guitar, it's just.. EPIC O_O

  • *HEADACHE*

  • You can tell that Evo is his oldest, the color has went from snow white too cream lol

  • @SuperGuitarZone Not to mention the crack on the neck joint that is clearly visable

  • @IbanezMS1995 also the vine inlay is not shiny anymore and all the wear on the body

  • oh...my...GOD!

  • uhh... can someone get a tab for this demonstration please

  • I bet most of the haters have never picked up a guitar and know little to nothing about music theory or composition. Not liking someone is one thing but you can't say they suck when Vai's forgotten more about playing in the last 5 minutes than post people ever know.

  • Once you learn Steve Vai's playing technique, I find its very hard to get away from, like drugs

  • @IbanezMS1995 definitely

  • What effect is he using to get that digital electric sound? Choirs or maybe a flanger?

  • @00TheGuitarMan00

Its his Eventide Harmonizer It costs like $5,000.

  • Damn that tone is Sexy!

  • Theres just no bottom end to this garbage. Take the trem bar off and drop the effects and harmonic man. Im getting sick of Vai so bad. Hes a fuggin primaddona. He and all his "followers" think what hes doing is so great. I just dont get it. Its for fuggin little kids. Hes in his own little world and it is really getting boring. Quick.

  • @brib333 WOW , i`m going to use these " POWERFUL " comments to go clean my oven & shower !!!! HAHA

  • @brib333 well my friend, that's why Vai's been around for over 20 years.. If any of this would be getting boring, he wouldn't have lasted this long. So please, stop trolling and if you don't like Steve, don't come on his video and complain.. Just DON'T LISTEN!! I mean, it's that simple dude..

  • Ha, NUNO would play circles around him...... without ever even touching the trem bar.

  • @brib333 nuno is a great player but...be real now

  • @mrjobass47

I am real. And I think Nuno is a much better player that Vai. When it comes down to the nitty gritty Nuno is the better player. Vai has nice little melodies going on but all his songs sound the same. I love how percussion Nuno is and very creative and original. Listen to Extremes last cd before you tell me to be real. In fact listen to there last 3 cds. Vai is a prima donna

  • @brib333 Nuno is nowhere close to being as good as Vai...he isn't even on the same planet...and I'd bet a huge sum of money Nuno would tell you the same.

  • @999vai999 You're obviously going to be biased co you're a Vai fan...Vai is impressive but Nuno does stuff that is beyond the quirky noises I hear in this vid. Nuno def has a better right hand than Vai. But having said all this who cares....they are the best of mates and both rich. They dont give a fuck so why should we?

  • @RockBoysChannel56 yeah, why does he do that thing where it looks like he is picking an apple off a tree?

  • HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS NAME TO KING TREMOLIO,,MY TREMOLO HASNT GOTTEN PLAY LIKE THAT EVER!!!!SHIIIIIIIIIIT!!!

  • @METALLICA6547 your guitar as a whole hasnt!

  • @vi70h what do you mean tonto

  • what song is this demonstration taken from? I heard this on the ibanez jemini pedal trailer

  • @RockBoysChannel56 Hey, hey apple!

  • @TheLordOfCoal Apple, hey! You look fruity=D

  • Dam he makes that axe sing

  • You know what sucks. True and soulful guitar music like this will prolly be gone forever when Vai and the few other greats are gone. Music like this dying out and too many people are too worried about " fast picking" and "sweeping" to just PLAY! I will miss it when it's gone. I can play, but sadly not this good.

  • whats that on the neck pickup almost every of vais guitar have it

  • @bunnyboybxb it's just a piece of tape with KONX written on it.... sometimes Vai plays so hard tat his high E string would get stuck under his pick up so he sealed it with tape and if I remember corectly KONX is an Indian word which brings good fortune... read it on Vai's website some time ago

  • @bunnyboybxb IT is tape w/ the word KNOX on it. The tape is there to prevent the hi e string from getting stuck on the pick up when he hits it hard.

On his web site Steve Vai explains that the word "KNOX" is an ancient alchemist mantra & Alester Crowley originated it & used it in his incantations.

  • @cfrancisco74 The work is "KONX" btw :-)

  • @tearnfourstar My apologies. Typo. Must have watched Jackass 3 or the Dukes of Hazard.

BTW: the word is "word". No biggie. Typo.

  • @cfrancisco74 lol, you got me on that one; I was just testing to see if you could return a favour lol

  • that doesn't make me feel any groovy feeling.. it would be nice.. if simpler way like joe sat

  • I wonder what scales he was working off of

  • @moporama It should be E Lydian.... sounds like an E scale... and since he likes Lydian modes so much, it should be what he's doing...

  • A que espera Ibanez para sacar una Jem 777Wh Relic!!!!!!! eso si que seria cojonudo :P

  • A que espera Ibanez para sacar una Jem 777Wh Relic!!!!!!! eso si que seria cojonudo :P

  • lol 11 people were blown away by the awesomeness so much that they couldnt press the right button :P

  • dang forget the music teachers at my college lol i've got a whole arsenal of guitarists(Vai, Satch, Schon, Slash, Gilbert, Petrucci, etc.) on youtube; i learn just from watching these GuitarGods in the comfort of my room.

  • Lol i love how EVO is all beat up from so many different shows and yet its like Vai's main guitar. now thats dedication :D

  • @Jemuniverse7v yaaa evo is good but i like the flo..........SUSTAINER ROXXX!!!! \m/

  • Nice demo, didn't like the Chorus much though, I prefer the Jem pure sound and a bit of delay.

  • 2.28-47 is what you came here for.

  • ou sou seu fã.

nunca há de ter melhor que vc

nem eu se vc quer saber.

    kskskksk

  • That fucking guitar is officially on fire

  • zappa halen? ;)

  • No, this is Steve Vai. *acts like didn't understood the comment*

  • What exactly is he doing at 0:18 - 0:20??? With the whammy..... I've been trying it and trying to figure it out....... I can't find any videos on it.

  • @DavidCeran he is taking a note on the fretboard and then taking it down ( with a little hit ) with the whammy bar....

  • what is that technique at 2:22?

  • @atila120 that a thing he does a lot.....is a a pattern in E lydian, he plays a is a succession of fifths going down E Lydian, thats it.....good luck!!!!

  • His vibrato technique is beautiful to watch, never mind listen to! God damn my stubby fingers =)

  • @j8mm3r exactly what i think haha. it just looks so nice/good etc. and sounds mint to :P

  • waht is that wah like effect? or is it a phaser?

  • @edwardtang1977 Halfway through this demo i think he starts using the bad horsie morley wah. It's fucking sweet =P

  • i love watching vai play :D. His playing style just works for me so well :D. never get tired of him

  • the evo its a jem555 ?

  • @rockmaster002 no it just had the bridge replaced some years ago

  • @rockmaster002 EVO is JEM 7WH with black hardware

  • What is that thing under his guitar's neck pick-up? I don't want to say some sort of tape but... it sorta looks it. Anyone know?

  • yeah its tape lol, to stop the high e sting catching on the pickup when the whammy bar is dropped.

  • It's tape to make sure the high E doesn't get caught under the pickup Bobbin.

  • @ghikij

It is tape lol. He uses it to stop his strings from catching on the pickups.

  • Amazing is right. So much control and touch to make notes sound like that. Virtuoso command over the instrument. The one and only Steve Vai!

  • ok thanx man

  • most of the this sounds similar to the jemini distortion vid

  • change the video name for "3:30 minuts of pure jezzing"

  • amazing

  • I just watched this after my guitar practice and I just realized my guitar sounds like shit... Man, I love Steve's tone & distortion

  • Def one of my favorite guitarists!! Awesome!

  • Now I'm convinced.. I will take him as teacher for my guitarlessons

  • i think that anyone would take steve vai for guitarlessons! lol

  • @omanuel32

can you afford the fees? Respect!

  • and why are they overrated? think about that....

  • dude whats your problem, steve vai is amazing... go listen to your 13 year old slipknot man...

  • What the fuck are you talking about, guy? Post a video of yourself playing this, and I'll leave you alone! You're a loser! Go listen to your nu-metal shit somewhere else, and leave the true musicians alone!

  • Awesome playing.

  • 1:41-1:46 whitesnake memories! lol

  • any1 know teh tab for that accending lick about 13 secs in

  • @jesusisagay

I'm not sure if you have guitar pro but if you do there is a tab on ultimate guitar called "i Know you're Here" by Vai (ofc) and that lick is in there :D

  • EVO is Steve´s Ibanze JEM nummber one, this JEM has Evolution pickups and this pickups is name of this guitar -- EVOlution ...

And FLO is JEM 77FP painted white and with sustainer, susteiner is help with sustein ....

Sry im not speak English ;D

  • Comment removed

  • no...no, he doesn't.

  • I think Vai is starting to sound very very cliched. Still amazing but it's more of the same, bog standard Vai patterns and licks. Take a chance Steve, try something different.

  • Dude, you realize these are just excerpts of songs made for Young Guitar magazine, right? It's very easy to say that when you're not a virtuoso. And at one time, these "standard Vai patterns and licks", were not really even happening before he came along. The fact that his licks are standard and that we're so used to hearing them and taking them for granted speaks about his level of guitar playing. It's so original.

  • Thats like saying clapton, van halen, page etc are cliched. Good pt zombie

  • Yea, and I gotta say, even though I've seen and heard of alot of amazing players, I seem to like to still listen to Jimmy Page, and Van Halen. The only time where I really liked Clapton though was the Bluesbreakers, maybe Cream. Other than that though, not my cup of tea.

  • steve is tearin the ibanez jem a new one, keep on rockin man.

  • freak show excess good enough for ya? :D

  • sorry, but what is "EVO"???

  • Is a special Pick-up by: D´marzio for Steve vai guitars, the correct name is "Evolution Pick-ups by: D´marzio"

    xD

sorry my bad english cause i´m brazillian xD

  • it's the name of his guitar, because he needed to tell which guitar had the evolution pick ups, he wrote EVO on it, similar story with FLO, but i dont quite know exactly

  • Steves main JEM

  • what you never named your guitars?

    that ones name is evo

  • @MultiIzZzKing its dimarzio evolution pickups!!!

  • GOD

  • He can play a few trademarks all the time because... well he invented it and it's his trademark.

I am sure if 1 of the millions of youtube guitarist actually made it and became an innovator they'd always reuse created styles and phrasings.

In fact I am willing if we picked anyone here to play every day to an audience for 1 week, by the 2nd or 3rd day we'd be bored to death of seeing the same shit being used. There difference it would be plagiarized rubbish.

  • his FLO is better then EVO... not just because the EVO is old.. but... is better... =D

  • well flo has the fernandez sustainer, one of vais secrets to how he keeps notes ringing for years and how he gets such high pitches without his whammy pedal!

  • @FredyroX yaaa sustianer roxxx!!

  • Poor EVO, it is in awful condition nowadays. No wonder, any normal guitar would of been long dead considering the way Vai abuses them :)

  • ive got a 777vdy jem but hell it cant flutter its a 1991 model, fooking stunning to look at but cant flutter :(

  • I think he is using the Jimini distortion pedal here. That's the reason the tone is a little weird : )

  • He probably is, but that's not why the tone. He has an effect called "chorus" going on, which makes it sound like there are 2 guitars. Almost like a flanger, but way more subtle.

  • And also he's keeping the wah on but keeping it in one place for a lot of the time.

  • Steve Vai is the best!!!!

  • still not sure what he's demonstrating except he's a badass guitar player

  • old guitar, but incredible!

  • he does still play evo... not going into detail but he does

  • think you might want to check that mate cos im a member of jemsite and word has it that evo is damaged.he does have another 7vwh called flo

  • well isnt he playing it here... this is less than a year old... and evo does have a big crack in it right near the heel... but i saw him play it last year if nothing else

    you might be right

  • Much better tone here then on the previous one. I realize here that on both videos he is using a wah I believe, which may explain what I think is horrible tone on the first video. I still say Steve should study his buddy Andy Timmons more and cop some better tone. Andy is just as technical, writes in my opinion much more accessible songs, and has outstanding tone.

  • his tone is so ridiculous that my volume needs to be nearly off to not wake people XD I wish I had that tone.

  • is this from one of his songs?
