I don't know about the screw it lookss like the wing just folds up under the load,,yeap reinforce you center wing section ,,use hard wood glass aluminum anything that will not come undone.
I had the exact same thing happen to a **used** Great Planes Lancair on it's 14th flight. The wing joint had not been glassed.
Definately glass the center section, no matter what the build manual says. I learned that lesson the hard way. That mistake cost me about $800 as the plane was a total loss - motor, rx, servos, everything destroyed.
I glassed my 2nd Lancair. The new plane has 85+ flights on it and no problems so far.
Weak center section. Next time you join a set of wing halves, fibre-glass its center section. Its a must for high "G" loading towards the wings center joined panels. Use at least a two inch strip of cloth with 30 min. epoxy. Do the bottom first. Cover it with clear plastic, and smooth it down. At 20 Min. cure, try a corner till it rips clean off , if not wait 5 more mins.
thanks no one has ever told us to do that to our planes we were not trained by anyone just started flying ... we will have to do that with all our new arfs
Buddies: Next time you join a set of wing halves together, fibre-glass your center section with at least a two inch strip. Always fibre-glass any center section, high or low wing plane, despite what the instructions say.
after looking at the crash damage the nylon screw that held the wing down was broke could have happened in the crash or it broke in the air not sure .. I know that the wing severed in half though .. crazy ... we always have the best luck with our planes lol
i had a trainer 60 size after 200 flights on it... finally my wing gave up. like this plane... i did two loop's and then it happen.. lol

Too bad for the loss. Sig should make good on it. When it comes right down to it what do you expect for Chinese garbage.
You would be much better off building your own. More pride and greater satisfaction. Also you know the wing wont fall off

What do you expect to happen when you try to pull out of a dive like that.

it was kinda tragic that was one of the first planes lee and curt bought ... but there was nothing he could have done it just blew up ...
hacker8675309 1 year ago
ouch, was that because of the wind?
RcFlyBy1 1 year ago
no not the wind ... the nylon wing bolt was broke in the crash damage so we think it let lose and wing broke off
