  • scorpions are awsome :P

  • NICE TANK!

  • why does the mous looj pink and like jelly?

  • @xPandaIVIoniumx why did you look all pink and jelly like when you were born? the answer is the same for this mouse.....its a baby

  • I recently purchased a Flinders Range scorpion, and as of late she has rejected cricket offerings for weeks now. After thinking she may have died, my scorpion now has an incredibly arched back (like something you'd seen in an exorcism movie) and doesn't move, only when I tap the glass (I know i'm not supposed to) does she respond with little movement, although her positioning does not change.

I ask: Is my scorpion moulting, or is there something seriously wrong?

  • aww poor baby XP

  • I have an Asian Forest Scorpion as well. About how long do you think it took for your scorpion to reach that size?

  • @iamasswookie

about a year, year and a half

  • hehe, i love how he pushes the pinky off his back with his tail. that made me giggle.

  • Lol well.. Not everyday food gets dumped on your head,

Bro u droped the mouse on his head and he prob has a headach now lolz

  • have you ever been stingd/ and is it dangerus ?

  • @Porre1337

yeah, it can be dangerous (deaths are known), but i've never been stung

  • nice scorpion and environment. how do you keep him hot?

  • tweezers of death

  • very nice scorpion i was thinking about getting one

  • Very nice tank setup. I just got my first scorp the other day, an emperor. I have just the basics in the tank right now, he's still pretty shy.

  • nice scorpion and nice setup !!

  • wooow amazing!!!

  • wow nice scopion. what is that you fed it? was it a baby mouse???

  • @90aunder

Yeah, that in the vid is a pinky.

  • Is you're emp still alive? I have one, it's about a year old now, I love you're tank set up by the way, i need to re-fix my tank, so its in a dampper environment.

  • @wckpwnage

Tnx, but it's not an Emperor... It's a Heterometrus longimanus (Asian forest scorp). And yeah, he's still alive. He's about three and half years old now...

  • @RViperC Very nice, didn't think it looked like an emp the claws are different, and the face of it and legs are to. Very nice scorp though!

  • I dont think Id ever want a scorpion as a pet because I respect them too much to keep them in captivity. They're so beautiful and cool... plus, Id probably be bugging the little basterd by stareing at it whenever he/she tries to feed...

just wondering, ever heard of the myth about scorpions stinging themselfs to death when exposed to alcohol? Does it work on bigger ones or have you never tried it on your little friend there?

  • @TheAsianpie

I have heard that but I don't think it's true.... Why should I give my scorp alcohol??? xD

  • arent you afraid it might sting itself one day?

  • @scolopede You're right, it's not a H. longimanus, H. longimanus is black in all lighting conditions, this scorpion has sometimes brown shades, it's chelae have too much granulation, and H. longimanus has a red telson, like Pandinus imperator.

  • Your Heterometrus longimanus lives like a king in that incredible terrarium! These scorpions are just awesome!

  • Heterometrus longimanus is the coolest scorpion of them all! They're awesome!

  • scorp thinks -> wtf :o

  • Cool looking scorpion. It looks more like H. laoticus to me though than longimanus. The chela look a little bulky for longimanus I've seen and the carapace doesn't look like there is much granulation. H. laoticus aren't real shiny looking compared to longimanus ...stuff I've read anyway. There are some good Heterometrus pdf's on the interenet. You can go to google and type in "heterometrus" and "pdf" if you want to double check the species you've got there.

  • I got an emp. he dont really lemme watch him eat. aint fed him a pinky yet. I am gettin an goliath bird eater. i got him posted on my page.

  • wow i love your scorpion and tank i have a H.spinifer how long do they take to molt mines bout inch now 5/5

  • when they're young they molt quite fast, but as they get older they do it rarer... mine has molt the last time about 13-14 months ago...

  • @RViperC ok cheers yours is still such a nice scorp im so jealouse

  • did it eat the skull to?

  • yeah, the whole pinky

  • @RViperC MAN I WONT A SCORPION NOW

  • hey i just bought two emperor scorpians a week and a half ago and they are rejecting worms, have u tried meal worms, should i go get a pionky mouse? what else do you feed it??? thanks

  • they should eat mealworms, but superworms (zoophobas) are better... you can try also with cockroaches... and you shouldn't give pinkies more than once a month...

  • thanks viper.

  • Scorpions also go on fastings. That could be why they're rejecting the food. Don't freak out. Just try to keep feeding them atleast twice a week. :)

  • oh ok thank you. Yeah i think they just eat when i'm not at home because when i went to pick one up after work, he had a cricket in his claw, and i keep track of the crickets when they go missing in the tank. So atleast now i know they are eating (what a relief!)

  • he eats a lot. lol

  • I wana get one

  • is it redclaw or emperor? seems there's a reddish hue on him, but it could also be fresh out of a molt

  • it's in the info......

    it's a h. longimanus

  • it can have a blue color to it if u shine a black light mixed with flourescent light too. this looks lke an emporer scorpian.

  • holly shit that fucker is huge

  • Why would you post it if it didn't even show the scorpion making the kill

  • Why wouldn't I???

  • Boring as bat shit?

  • Poor mouse, nice scorpion

  • I saw a vid where the scorp was crushing the brain/spine to kill it.

    Has yours ever done that?

  • No.

  • um...why do you continously depsoit the baby mouse beside the scorpion? Scorpions don't want to be fed, they want to hunt. nevertheless, it would be cool to have a scorpion. I'd name him Scorppers, or Snippers, r something.

  • so like, hows the best way to pick up a scorpion? id figure by the tail but how brittle is that part? hypothetically of course hahaha

  • 13goodrats, you should NEVER pick up a scorpion by it's tail, it can be very harmful to it. Really, even with emperors, you shouldn't handle them but when they have to be handled (e.g cleaning out their tank) then i use a pair of tongs with foam around the 'pinching bit' (? lol fail) and grab the scorpion at it's back end, near the tail, but not by it. hope this helps.

  • i normally use a wooden small box when the scorpions goes in i cover with air holes of course then i simply take box out there really is the need to handle the scorpion even do i have i rather not because sting might not be lethal but however you could have a reaction just like that of a bee sting so it really depend on the person that is stung not the venom in the scorpion and that my friend is where the danger is at

  • cant watch, sad for the mouse

  • he wanted some privacy XD

  • Nom Nom Nom Nom Nom

  • Wow! The scorpian is cute :D scared of the pinky mouse ^^

  • boring.......

  • im sorry to say you this is not longimanus, but im sure you buy it as one, lots of heterometrus looks pretty the same. i buy mine as longimanus too. the same with h.scaber. thats a commercial trick. lot of them are h.laoticus and h.petersii, they not so rare. h.longimanus is shiny black with smaller claws and the telson is yellow or red. but yours is a great big one! i hope your not insult! greetings

  • Why should I be insulted??

He's more brownish because he has molt a few days before i took this video... Now he's all "shinny black"... I'll post a new video soon, with new pics...

  • best feeding video I saw.

  • seen is the grammer your looking for lol

  • is dat the swamer?

  • It's a longimanus!

  • very nice vid....

  • oke so if i heard a story about a scorp stinging itself to death that would be craptalk? well anyway ur info hass helped me very much, TY

  • Yeah, that's crap! As I said, they're immune to their own venom.

  • hmmm i didnt know they were more venomous, thnx for warning me! is the venom still harmless to humans? or instant kill? :-P well i know the venom isnt strong but how big is the difference between pandinus and heterometrus? ever been stung by ur longimanus? and do you know if they are immune to their own venom, cause sometimes they fight over a hide-out(even if there are 10 other unoccupied) and they sting each other....it worries me a little

  • There have been recorded death cases, but only a few (<10).

No, I've never been stung, but I don't disturb him much (only when it's necessary).

All scorpions are immune to their own venom, but heterometrus and pandinus sp. use their pincers and could hurt the other scorp.

  • actually, scorpions aren't immune to their own venom. They'll use it against eachother in territorial attacks, and some even canabalize eachtother, stinging eachother to death. In most cases, though, the males will use it on females to help calm them, using a very small amount to do so. Beautiful scorpion, and it's enclosure is wonderful!

  • very true, they will use there own venom to kill them selfs if they fell there life is in imediate danger and by injecting themselfs would kill the animal that then eats it,

  • i have some heterometrus but they wont eat, i tried crickets, grasshoppers, they dont take any at all and dont seem to be interested in food. the food walks overt them and they still dont do a thing.....does anyone have any tips??

  • Heterometrus sp. are usually more aggressive than the Pandinus sp.

If my longimanus is hungry he'll eat, if he isn't he wont even look at the cricket/mouse.

Just take it easy with them and offer them food in a week or so.

  • thnx....but u say they are more agressive then the pandinus species, the pandinus isnt agressive is it? my heterometrus arent agressive to, ofcourse as long as you dont bother them ^^

  • The pandinus sp. aren't aggressive almost at all. The heterometrus uses his sting more often than the pandinus (and heterometrus sp. are more venomous than the pandinus sp.)

  • Scorpions prefer to hunt so give them some time also check the temp in the tank because many factors affect the scorpions well being so look up on care sheet online and see if you can locate the problem

  • The problem is solved a long time ago...

The temp. and the humidity are OK.

He just had his "not eating" period...

  • Cool scorpion dude. I don't feed any of mine mice.

  • Thx

    Do you have a Heterometrus?

  • Nope, I have 3 Babycurus Jacksoni (Red Bark Thick Tails) and 1 Hadrurus Arizonensis (Desert Hairy)

  • Cool

  • YOUR SCORPION IS WERI NICE !

  • Thx

  • fuckin awesome!

  • how much did your tank cost/how long did it take to set up the way it is. also how often do you feed them? i just got two yesterday =]

  • I got it from my friend, together with the scorpion, for 90$.

I think it took about a week, because the foam (under the moss/turf) had to dry up.

I feed him only when he wants to eat -> sometimes once or twice a week and sometimes once a month. If he is hungry he'll take it.

  • when feeding is it better to use tongs and dangle it in from of them or just drop it in with them and see if they go after it?

  • It's definitely better to just drop and watch.

But if he doesn't want to eat for a longer time, you should hold it in front of him until he grabs it.

  • that's is a fucking nice scorpion

    nice long dude

  • Thx man :))

  • That is so freaking awesome! I love scorpions! i don't know what kind it is i just know its bad ass!

  • cool man thats badass

  • sorry dude not a longimanus:P

  • What do you mean?

    It is a longimanus...

  • sorry my bad man was in a hurry when i bumped in ur video so didnt really notice how long the pincers were

  • sweet spinifer! i've never fed any of my scorps live pinkies, but i hear it's messy.

  • No, it isn't!!

At least not by mine! :)

  • okies on the ucky meter it is ucky but...hey he has to eat too! better than my carnivore rat pups who eat each other at times... :) and their food dish is full!

  • Yeah, true!

    Thx :)

  • 5 STARS THATS SO AWSOME

  • Thx

  • Awesome!!! i wish i could get my tarantula to eat a pinky

  • Why not!?

    My N. chromatus does!
