Representatives of the skateboarding community have had countless meetings with the council regarding this. Before you go calling people fucking assholes, I suggest you check your shit.

I saw an old lady get rushed to hospital because some idiot with a skateboard took her out and he didn't even have the decency to stop and check her. He and the rest of his buddies continued skating and acted like nothing happened. I know this is a minority but skating should not be allowed in a place like Aotea Square where safety is a huge concern especially for the elders.

The council baulked on their original plans to make it skate friendly, negating their election promises like every other fucking politician faggot has done before them. Putting metal edging on the ledges as per the original plan would have benefited everybody, it would have protected the marble/granite ledges, and made them even more skateable. Instead they have resorted to a destructive method of 'protecting' the the square. Chump.
