Well, when I was like 5 or 6 I was told a little story about a boy who cried wolf..She faked strangling herself a number of times. You don't go to jail for months and wind up doing 3 years for nothing.. It's sad but I don't see what the cops did wrong. As far as medical attention its minimal at best. They treat you as if you're not human regardless of the crime. You Ever been in jail? If you ever get put into the system it will abuse you verbally and physically, then when you fight, or even put a hand up to defend* yourself, you find yourself in there another 3 months, or in her case, years.

Maybe we could try to help people instead of incarcerating them? What in our thousands of years of using the prison system have we accomplished? All prisons are is a training camp for criminals to get better at what they do, and do not help the problem in the least.

They do quite a bit of aggressive "brain washing" as in the military, yelling orders repeatedly, depriving the inmates of sleep, depriving them of heat, giving them to much heat, filling their cell up with pepper spray etc...
It beings to "crack" people, and is certainly no place for a teenager. However she had it quite easy in reality, the MKUltra trials have proven that there has been extensive abuse among the mental illness, and youth facility's in "America".

It sounds as tho' she should not have been in prison in the first place. So how come, nobody in authority saw that, either at the beginning or by the end. Also what is with blaming the guards? Their behaviour sounds inhumane until you work under public service management. They can lose their jobs simply for swearing. So, with that in mind, what guard would step in to help (even if a young annoying girl) if the boss has told them SPECIFICALLY, not to. The management were clearly to blame.
The bigger encompassing issue now is that our system of "prison/jail" is archaic, and does more harm than good. We need to use technology and our brains to have systems that don't involve locking people up like animals ever. Murderers and Someone smoking pot don't need to be together, but they are. Further, even the most hardened criminals can be kept from harming others with technology and not brick and mortar prisons and jails. The 'system' needs to protect and REHABILITATE people.

I am a correctional officer who works in a womens prison. I can tell you right now that the core problem here was a stingy budget. Correctional officers are NOT psychiatrists and do NOT have medical degrees. They do not diagnose mental disorders and they do NOT treat mental disorders. The only thing a correctional officer can do when someone is suicidal is to put that person in restraints (the wrap), turn on the camera, and wait for mental health staff to arrive.

Get her the help and she is pumped with meds costing everybody, leave her alone in the cell she is costing everybody, leave her on the streets and she is gonna do whatever she wants. The unfortunate truth is that in order to get Mental Health treatment in the community - that is to say - free for the indigent - one must commit a crime. Imagine something for a moment...you are one officer responsible for walking a tier 100 yards long with over 250 inmates on that tier. You have to tend to all inmates on that tier and sometimes your tour goes from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. How many times is that gonna happen before an inmate that doesnt want to live, figures that out and makes their attempt while youre away. It only takes a couple minutes of hanging to die. .
If the officer had just passed her cell and did a health and wellness check on her, it could be another 10 minutes before the same officer could make it around to her again. So for civilians that have no fucking clue how it is to work in a correctional environment, to give their uneducated opinions of how it works is fucking pathetic.
But sometimes they do it when they know that we are not around. They have nothing but time on their hands. And with that time, they study officers actions, routines, and timing.
Let me give my expert opinion. I am a former Corrections Officer in Indiana and i have dealt with HUNDREDS of individuals like her. Some cannot be helped. Once they make their mind up that they want to end their life, they are going to try until they succeed. I have had multiple suicide attempts from inmates during my shifts and 95% of the time, we make it to the scene before they actually die.

They do quite a bit of aggressive "brain washing" as in the military, yelling orders repeatedly, depriving the inmates of sleep, depriving them of heat, giving them to much heat, filling their cell up with pepper spray etc...
It beings to "crack" people, and is certainly no place for a teenager. However she had it quite easy in reality, the MKUltra trials have proven that there has been extensive abuse among the mental illness, and youth facility's in "America".

It sounds as tho' she should not have been in prison in the first place. So how come, nobody in authority saw that, either at the beginning or by the end. Also what is with blaming the guards? Their behaviour sounds inhumane until you work under public service management. They can lose their jobs simply for swearing. So, with that in mind, what guard would step in to help (even if a young annoying girl) if the boss has told them SPECIFICALLY, not to. The management were clearly to blame.

I am a correctional officer who works in a womens prison. I can tell you right now that the core problem here was a stingy budget. Correctional officers are NOT psychiatrists and do NOT have medical degrees. They do not diagnose mental disorders and they do NOT treat mental disorders. The only thing a correctional officer can do when someone is suicidal is to put that person in restraints (the wrap), turn on the camera, and wait for mental health staff to arrive.

Imagine something for a moment...you are one officer responsible for walking a tier 100 yards long with over 250 inmates on that tier. You have to tend to all inmates on that tier and sometimes your tour goes from 10 minutes to 45 minutes. How many times is that gonna happen before an inmate that doesnt want to live, figures that out and makes their attempt while youre away. It only takes a couple minutes of hanging to die. .

Let me give my expert opinion. I am a former Corrections Officer in Indiana and i have dealt with HUNDREDS of individuals like her. Some cannot be helped. Once they make their mind up that they want to end their life, they are going to try until they succeed. I have had multiple suicide attempts from inmates during my shifts and 95% of the time, we make it to the scene before they actually die.

Clearly Cheney meant nuclear-weapons programs and did not mean Saddam had nuclear weapons. But it takes more a modicum of intelligence to figure that out.

@12389h Yes, we supplied Saddam with T-72 tanks, BMPs, MiGs, AK-47s, SCUDs, and all the other weapons made in Russia and China. You're a genius. AS for selling him the technology needed to make nuclear weapons, that's illegal under American law, so maybe you can identify those who did so. Iraq was a signatory to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, which is why the UN was involved. Israel is not a signatory. Why don't you know this?

@12389h Is there no end to ignorance? White phosphorus is not illegal under international law. It's been banned for use on civilians, but no treaty prevents its use on combatants. We were wrong to develop nuclear weapons and should've invaded Japan instead, killing millions instead of the approximately 250,000 who died. We should never have stopped Saddam from killing millions of his people, and we should never have stopped al Qaeda from doing whatever it wanted to do. I've seen the light! Bless you, my child.

Your country has done a lot more damage to Afghanistan than the Soviets. 250,000 isn't a small number asshole, and people in those parts of Japan are still suffering today. @12389h Strangely enough, you're wrong again! The Soviets killed a million Afghans and displaced over 1.5 million more. The current war has killed about 12,000. Since the U.S. invasion, the Afghan GDP went from $2 billion to $27 billion. Compared to the estimated 7 million Japanese who would've died in an invasion of the home islands, 250,000 is a small number. You're the only person here who thinks in terms of Hollywood and "good guys, bad guys." Because you're retarded.
