  • Haha, LOVE it! Starting to go back and check out past poems of yours I missed. I love how you delivered this one too. Perfect. :)

  • very interesting and well delivered.

  • short sweet and powerful

    Thank You...!

Have a good 2010 and all that crap too!!

    Love, m ; )

  • What? I had not subscribed to your channel? Sorted that out, it was long overdue. As always, asskicking!

    Happy new year.

  • I like the background and the clothes. Delivery is right on as always. Although I dont think it will bridge the gap between believers and non-believers, I feel it comes close to giving new and personal perspective on a very old stand off. Over all I think its a good use of your credit in addressing an important subject succinctly.

  • Fantastic, this is a great poem to start the New Year. Thanks for posting and sharing, 5*/fav

  • The difference between the Christians and me is that they write about hell and have never seen it. I was there in 1968. They write about heaven without a clue, but I've married 4 women who had a combined net worth of 25 million. And I'm proud to say that each was more than glad to give up a tidy sum to get rid of my sorry ass. Now that's heaven. 5*

  • pick a religion any religion. ah david you slay me :)

  • You're like your own brand of awesome.

  • When I told my mom I didn't believe in Santa Claus, she said that when I died, I was going to the South Pole.

  • Your face should be covered with a cream pie. You are looking like a cross between a software billionaire and a circus clown however your overall effect is humbling

  • @MustangSaIIy - now some thought went into that comment! I've been wondering if you were still around youtube... have a good 2010 and all that crap! :P

  • I was captured by the guards while trying to rescue the Queen and have been spending most of my time figuring a way out of this dungeon.

  • I dont like your atheism. And i am giving you a pious thousand yard stare. Love it anyway. Playisted and five stars (: .

  • Ok, go ahead and hate me, but I don't get this one. Sorry dear - I was really psyched about it too. I love the title.

  • Your trademark wit is alive and well here, David. I love the deck of cards metaphor too!

    Brilliantly composed.

    Faved, playlisted

  • I'm an atheist. Does that count . Like your lighting effects...

  • @Poemsapennyeach -- what counts the most to me is your talent at poetry. Thanks for mentioning the lighting.. I've been worried I might be over-doing it a bit. Peace out! :P

  • cards, pick. nice metaphor. game of chance, like life.

    'tis hobsons choice..

  • Great delivery as always. You make atheism sound like so much fun. The link you gave, as well, was simply brilliant. Top marks

  • Yeah, if we left it all to "whatever works for you" - then *we* wouldn't get anywhere, would we?

  • "Pick a faith, any faith" :)

  • 5stars gets ya thanking :) you have gr8 delivery DRC

  • thanks dave i needed that after just watching a 12 year old on another channel tell me how stupid i am for not believing in yahweh zombie shit.

  • Nice

    5*****

    all the best

    Kean

  • I'm constantly amazed by the sheer stupidity which folks let pass for a foundation for their thinking... If thre's a hell, it'll be peopled by a bunch of surprised sonofabitches.

To quote another famous atheist: "God is a concept by which we measure our pain."

    Nice stuff, David.

    Roy

  • good quote, thanks!

  • as i was driving on the highway from up north today,i car cut me off, i coulnt help but noticed, the first 3 letters on its plateit was DRC......

i was never very religious, but im liking your spoken words!!...^_^

    i was never very religious

  • Elvira: That was ME that cut you off... you were hogging the road and driving like a brat--I had no choice! :P --- have a good 2010 ya little sweetheart you! :)

  • well i'll second that thought..except when i was forced to go to catholic school ^_^

  • I like it on so many levels!

    Great job!

  • I loved the ending as well. Very fitting.

  • Yeah! Kudos for attacking bullshit postmodern bullshittery: "what's right for you is right" MY ASS

  • I like the ending this poem. It's strange though, how strongly religion and atheism are imbeded in the US psyche. Here, to have strong views and mention religion at work or at a party is social suicide. Instead we have a generic sort of God who people follow, or not, how they please and who is, of course, British.

    Regards, Peter

  • Thats a sweet poem! :)

  • I'm a fundamentalist and not a universalist, but the whole idea of the afterlife is still pretty vague.

I always go back to the religion I grew up with. It pretty much boils down to I'm evil (which I am) and I can't save myself from it. I'm a freethinker enough in other areas.

Mr. Curtis always has style. "And it goes like this..."

  • JEEZ about time! i thought you'd NEVER write a poem about me. clever how you disgused me as a "he".

    don't worry. i'll pray for you. ;)

  • healthyaddixion: I don't think I could ever find words lovely enough to write a poem about you! :P

  • aw shucks. <3

  • This is sure to offend a person of any faith. Ironically, they don't seem to see the offensiveness of their own. Paradoxical, don't you think.......heavy sigh

  • Well yeah.. duh! You're gonna be a onea spicy meatball once the Flying Spaghetti Monster lays his Parmesan on ya! LOL

  • MrDaMan: RAMEN!

  • Great poem straight to the point!

    5*s/faved.

  • Awesome!

  • Hell yeah!! ;)

  • Excellent!

"Evangelist, n.: A bearer of good tidings, particularly (in a religious sense) such as assure us of our own salvation and the damnation of our neighbours."

    ~ Ambrose Bierce, The Devil´s Dictionary, 1911

I'd say 'God' is a trick deck of cards -- a tool used for personal gain by fooling & deceiving the credulous and undereducated into believing in magic and the absurd.

  • @JesusSavesAtCitibank

But I finished college and still believe in the magic and absurd. That's what I get for watching Mary Poppins.

  • No, it wasn't Mary Poppins. Many of us also educated have watched Mary Poppins as well and yet align ourselves with reality as best our collective species can understand it through consensus and empirical evidence. That atheists are the reason there's reason in the world is the only means by which so many others get by with their credulity, spending a good portion of their consciousness in a confused dream-like fantasy realm of supernatural poppycock, and yet not utterly destroy themselves.

  • @JesusSavesAtCitibank

I spend TON of time in a dream-like fantasy realm. I call it G-rated shock value world. I claim to access it through drug-free hallucinations, but it's really just imagination. G-rated shock value is extremely dangerous though, so you're right about it being a wonder that I haven't been destroyed by it yet.

I got nothing against technology or science or consensus or empirical evidence. I just tend to like fantastical things with no overt purpose as well .

  • Good luck with that.

  • @JesusSavesAtCitibank

    Thanks. I'll need it.

  • hahaha! I don't like pious either. Freedom of religion also means freedom from it.

  • And another five from your fan in Northern Cali.

  • 5 stars Mr. Curtis.

  • another gem.

  • That's hell good.

  • Works for me!
