  • Check this guy!!! He perfectly nailed Thoroughly at home!!!

    watch?v=OjF4XOrwM3E

  • yea you definitely are on track with the hand patterns i wanna see a video of what your feet are doing though.. lol

  • wtf lol a hybrid kit. I've never seen that before. Good cover BTW

  • Good drummers are always a pleasure to listen too w/ or without music!!! Nice stuff kid!!!

  • strannge set but cool. kid you got your time signatures down and at soo young good job, not many baby drummers can do that

  • Woahhhhh! Hold the phone! Is that an electric kit mixed with an acustic? Did anyone else just WTF or just me?

  • Nice Kit! Got a Yamaha DT-extreme in there ? Good playing! Try to kill the drums in the song to get your drumming a bit more in the front of the sound.

  • Props for having the balls to post this. But your going to need a little more energy to pull this one off... You missed alot of hits and played in a different rythm almost the whole time. Re post plox...

  • you're really good... but please throw your B8s out.

  • dude the snare sounds like if you hit a bathtub with a drum stick, nice playin though dude

  • Is it just me...or is he twitching?

  • The whole thing was off..but a nice attempt i guess. But the song choice was kinda shitty so i guess it doesnt matter either way.

  • what did i just see?! This was so bad! nothing is even close to the original drums!!!

  • good playing man... but you need a new drum kit and sell that electric drum kit.

  • Explain to me how you are doing 5/4 on the bass and 4/4 on the snare at the time?

    9/8 wtf

  • @Visurit haha well if you just think of each instrument separately it makes more sense. idk w.e

  • @shanebieda oh yeah and it should be 5/8 not 5/4

  • @shanebieda

Even then, Every section of the score needs to be in the same signature or else they come up mathematically incorrect.

  • @Visurit ok

  • @Visurit called a polyrythm

  • @Th3Congregation Im sure you know so much about these "poly rhythms" But seriously, Triplets Over quarter notes, here is a basic theory lesson. Lets assume it's in 4/4(which it's not, but that doesn't alter note value) 3 Triplet 8th notes = 1 quarter note 3x1x4=12 4x1=4 So the bar = 12/4, or 8/4, or 4/4. Regardless of what you are playing , your hands cannot change signature unless you start a new bar, So, triplets over quarters do not = 5/4 over 4/4 over 3/4. Now do you see?
  • @Visurit cool i get what you're saying thanks. But my hands can play whatever they want. I played the song and I pretty much played it right. And yes, the song is in 4/4.

  • @shanebieda

The part i am mongering about is in 4/4, but the part after is in 7/8, and the part before is in 9 something.

  • @Visurit yea yea ur right dude. ahh i hope i get to re rec this this weekend!!!

  • @shanebieda you think you played it right? Lol..

  • so good :)

  • music is too loud.

  • @tianastockholm25 Thanks for that! :)

  • wow I had never seen a hybrid kit lol, cool...

  • You are amazing. truly talented. keep up the good work brother.

  • I think its cool how he did this song thouroughly and at home.

  • @Klavigne99 I would say ooooh thats very clever, but it's not extremley thourough so I'm going to be posting another video of me playing this song again very very soon.

  • @shanebieda Well... it worked. so get on it. its named thus so make it thus. :P lol

  • You, man, are too good. Way too good. Subscribed!

  • i think its really cool how you mixed together an electric and acoustic. But if i were you (and this is just me) i would use the electric bass instead of the acoustic because its easier to get a good tone, especially for recording. OR id put the electric inside the acoustic so it looks acoustic. BUT THATS JUST ME because i play death metal.

    but yeah, good cover

  • @biocideband haha Iv'e done all of those things. This is the way I liked it best, but I'm not using the electric anymore cause I have a better acoustic now. I'm going to be re-recording this very soon so look for that.

  • @shanebieda awesome, ill add you so it appears in that activity thingie when youve uploaded it

  • I saw them with periphery and darkest hour. it was fucking nuts

  • yeah man, dont listen to them, good cover

  • Get rid of that god awful snare drum please.

  • You are clearly a capable drummer, and nobody should doubt this.

  • Goddamn man you need a really nice set with everything mic'd. I can tell you did a great job but the sound setup does not do your skill justice. So keep jammin but ask ya parents for some cash or save up yourself.

  • SERIOUSLY!!! haha, thanks alot man. I'll work on that.

  • Sick cover, you are really good. Only complaint is that i didnt like the sound of the snare, it sounded like lars snare from st anger. But that doesnt change the fact that it is a sick cover :)

  • ok I was about to delete your comment cause im tired of people constantly saying the snare sucks but that Metallica comment made me laugh so ill let your comment stay. haha. And thanks.

  • absolutely supreme...

  • RAPE. Dude please post that drum sheet man. I'm still kinda new at this polyrhythm stuff but I've been diving into it with animals as leaders

  • @quicklikeabunny666 haha, I love the enthusiasm. ahhh I need to get that sheet music done!!! just favorite this video or whatever and keep looking in the discription to see if I finished it.

  • these kids leaving comments saying u did a bad job are just dumb anything on drums by this band is so incredibly complex and u did a good job for how technicly dificult this song is the rest of these kids couldnt even do that so good job man and assholes keep it to yourselves

  • @123edohc Thanks alot man. I really appreciate that.

  • Hey man! Great cover, Maybe its just the camera but ah your snare drum doesn't sound that great =P

  • the cover wasnt half bad, but your drums do sound like horse shit. on a decent set you could pull it off a lot better.

  • you're totally right

  • i was wondering why, out of 50 comments, 0 of them pointed out how bad of a cover this is .... i guess you delete them all...

  • I'm only deleting stupid/ignorant comments like yours, but I'll keep yours cause I like you. ahaha. You can say it's bad all you want. I don't care. I never said it was good.

  • @shanebieda lol my comment was not ignorant nore stupid. you didn't say it was good. but i just dont' understand why you would post it on youtube if it was bad. With more practice you could do this. i really dont like putting down musicians for doing a bad job on something... but i really think you should have practiced this more before posting. :P

  • If you don't like it then don't watch it. I have someone really good for you that you should watch. You can waiste your breat on him. Masakerr

  • @shanebieda i had to watch it once. i love this song... seeing 'cover' beside the title, i had to... so the ol' youtube saying 'if you dont like it, dont watch it.' doesn't apply here. like i said, i usually don't put down other musicians. my suggestion to you would simply be practice more before posting something :D

  • @shanebieda lol i checked out that masakerr guy ... ;x i never will again.

  • hey, whose your friend? I wanna see his video.

  • Your channel disagrees

  • No it doesn't.

  • gwd cover man but snare sounds like poop soz lol

  • near the beginning it says 5/4 bass 5/4 snare 4/4 china If the china's just doing quarter's what makes it 4/4 instead of 5/4?

  • Because the song is in 4/4. Listen to the guitar and the fills. They all fit withthin a 4/4 timing. but really, you can count any song that exists in anyway you want, it just makes sense to count in 4/4

  • it might just be the camera quality, but it sounds like some of your drums need serious tuning. other than that the playing was excellent.

  • great cover btw

  • have you seen them live?

    theyre phenominal

  • NO!!!! I wish!!! They need to come to the west coast. They'll be in LA sometime.

  • oh man!!! I saw them with BTBAM and veil of maya! it was amazing!

  • Niiice. Veil of Maya is really gooood. How was Tosin on stage?

  • he mainly just stood around but im not sure how he could do much else while hes playing the stuff he plays. He was pretty much flawless though musically.

  • haha yeah. I really hope hey comes to LA soooon.

  • man!! that's something i'm gonna envy for the rest of my life... any chance of they coming to Argentina? -auuf *hope*

  • I have no idea. Probably not any time soon. I'm sure you got lots of great local bands there. Try and find some. Just because it's not a great band, doesn't mean the show's bad. I looove going to shows.

  • @Joetheamazingguy THOSE ARE LIKE, MY 3 FAVOURITE BANDS EVER :|

  • is that Yamaha Rydeen? (:

  • actually idk, I was barrowing this set and i gave it back. Now I'm barrowing my cousins set.

  • Jesus... the timing for the drums is so awkward i cant believe you pulled it off.. i'm not dissing the song about the timing though. i think its an awesome tune

  • Insaaane! I dont think anyone should be telling you what you did wrong, I doubt at least 95% of drummers could play this song as well as you did

  • Wow, thank you so much for that encouraging comment. I really appreciate that.

  • Guitar Pro will change your whole musical life

    Its amazing

  • Yeah, I can see how that's possible.

  • except they fucking wont update it to write in 8 strings... fucking dicks. still a good program tho.

  • You got the timing off at the start. Most of the song is in 1/8, covered over with polyrhythm's in different timings such as 3/2 and 3/4. You can do that, but its not quite a match to the polyrhythm in the song. Nice work though.

  • yeah, I know some of it's off. I'm hoping to film this again.

  • yeah this is realllllly sick dude. i love off timing snare and kick drum stuff! ur rly good.

  • cover = great!

    tom setup = truly epic!

    drum tab = cant wait!

  • Thank you!

I'll let everyone know in the description when I put up the drum tabs.

  • dude im SO glad your postin the drum sheet for this. Ive been trying to find out what all this is in for the longest time.

  • really good, but your snare sounds like shit.

  • nice setup

good job on the cover as well

    keep it up!!

    5 stars

  • well done!

  • :D

    ,

  • sounds great to me. good job man 5*

  • Thanks alot. Dude you're good!

  • yo i give you so much props for attempting this song man. I'm trying to figure it out my self right now. so its 5/4 for the left hand in the beginning over a 4/4 right hand? i can play that rhythm i just don't know what the meter is. also what are you doing for that fill at 2:27? it sounds like a quad of some kind but i don't see ur feet moving.

  • Do you have guitar pro? I wrote about half of the the song so far. And at 2:27 It is played 2 quads and 2 doubles.

  • yeah i do have guitar pro

  • And thank you for the props.

  • Well done!

  • Thank you

  • 1-Your snare sounds like shit.

    2-slightly off time.

    nice try otherwise.

  • Comment removed

  • What do you mean talk after?

  • It was meant to the guy who said you were not in time

I meant: "Do it, post it and we will see if you're better".

It was not for you, by the way you're really good.

  • oh. thanks :D

  • booooooo not even on time dude better luck next time and im not even hating i give you props for attempting but thats not it quit mocking tosin! Seriously

  • sounds on time to me.

  • Sick job dude, 5/5

  • You're kit is extremely interesting. Very nicely done.

  • Thank you

  • awesome job man! You got it down for the most part!

  • Thank you so much.

  • Great job! Definitely on it!

Only criticism is the "polyrhythm" usage. The beginning is all "polymetrics" due to the 5 sequential 16th notes (not quintuplets) against the quarter-note pulse. I find this easiest if counted as four bars of 4/4, though if you want to get nerdy/overly technical, it can be broken down as 5/4, 6/4, 5/4, in that order--still 16.

The only polyrhythmic element is this song is the bridge at 1:38, which is a 5:2 polyrhythm--the (2) being the chords Tosin is striking.

  • wow. :O haha

I'm writing the sheet music for the drums right now and you don't know how long it took me to come to the conclusion that those were quintuplets! now I realize the accents are just on every five in 16th notes. dang it

oh and the way I wrote the timing for the intro was 3 measures of 5 with 1 extra beat at the end. then into 4/4 for the rest of the song.

Are you doing a cover on this song any time soon?

  • yea, It's really fun to play.
