  • Hoax

  • I want to go there so bad! D:

  • we went there last night lol.... I could happily say we were all quite high but the only prang was a couple of dudes round the back also hunting for ghosts

  • i think, its a really interesting and amazing place...

  • I don't care if Borley, or any other ghost stories, is ever considered false, because that will never take away my passion and craving for spooky, eerie, and mystical tales. This "kid" should remain within everyone no matter how old you are. If it doesn't, you're missing out on a lot of excitement and thrill to keep an open mind!

  • Hey I just had an idea - this would make a great movie and hammer house of horror could do it. Similar to the legend of hell house movie in Bore ham wood in London. But would have to be made by genuine enthusiats and not some Los Angeles studio who would no doubt use boat loads of CGI and just interested in bums on seats in theatres rather than a true horror classic.

  • i remember a bbc production in the 70's which recorded strange noises in the church when it was empty overnight, always spooked me out lol.

  • its definately freaky being behind that church really late at night and walking through the cemetary... come away with some wierd photos once.. still have them.. but it could be absolutely anything lol.

  • Ive been there I wanted to take some pictures and founf the locals to very protective I cant say hostlie but close to it

  • @ptrcklvn5555 I've been there about three times since I live in Bury St Edmunds, a few miles down the road from Borley... and yes, the locals are NOT happy when you go there to try take photos, so me and my brothers, or my dad, we always went at night when it was really dark and took photos in the cemetery and around the area.. I've come away with some pretty wierd ones, but again.. it could be ANYTHING.. not counting on it lol.

  • @ptrcklvn5555 Damn that's annoying. I don't understand why they live there. Why doesn't Essex council run tours and allow ghost hunts, They should offer to relocate those xenophobic residents to another part of Essex. Its not there land anyway and if they don't like it then they shouldn't live there and should not be having a go at people for being curious in there own Country. I hope they get haunted and scared out there minds. Good on ya chap.

  • the most haunted house in england is up the road from me in bristol, the ancient ram inn, built on pagan burial bround and layline. you can get some info from youtube. the place is very sitanic and has a vile look and feel to it. with out doubt wipes the floor with this place

  • didn`t this place burn down? or am i thinking of somewhere else?

  • @percectinsanity Yes thats very true. I have both books written on the events which happened there. It was apparently built on an Indian burial ground which had devil worshipping on it. I dont know if anybody has scanned the books in and made them available for download. Things must still be happening there, Maybe the residents are to afraid of the publicity or are stuck up toffs lol. I read the books late at night and they are a great read ( Harry price - the end of borley ) and another 1

  • Thanks for the upload!

  • there are no such things as ghosts , vampires weir wolf,s or fairies ,

  • @maplebanks your right but there is such thing as ghosts

  • The church is closed at sundown each day, and if you go there, there is a visitors book that you can sign, and if you want to leave an offering in the box provided for the maintenance of this beautiful old church you can. Excerpt finished.

I hope that that concludes the mystery, I am sorry to have spoiled your fun, but the facts are the facts.

  • In 2003, the Home Office funded the installation of a CCTV system to monitor the church and car park in an effort to reduce the vandalism that has plagued the area. The night vision cameras have not so far revealed any ghostly goings-on!

Whatever your views, visitors should remember that the church is God's House and treat it with reverence.

  • Many old churches and buildings have noises and chill areas, which some might class as ghostly, but those who have lived in the village and those who worship in the church have not, experienced anything like this.

  • Searching the internet for the Borley Ghost will give many hits, especially in the USA, many giving extremely fanciful, not to say fictitious details of the story, with non-existent crypts, etc. There was actually never any suggestion that the church itself is haunted.

  • It was destroyed by fire in 1939, probably in a fraudulent attempt to collect insurance in 1939 just before the Second World War. The site was cleared in 1945.

  • The following is an excerpt from the Church pamphlet:The Ghost. To many visitors Borley is famous for being haunted. The old Rectory, known as the most haunted house in England, stood opposite the church on the south side of the road.

  • I do not believe that the church is haunted by any spectres, the church opens for the public , there was a fire inside the church some time back, it was causes by faulty electrical wiring, and caught light to some drapes that where covering it, the wiring was old fabric covered wire from days gone by.

  • I have been inside the church and it is quaint, the feeling inside was good, for your information the church doors are not permanently shut, two middle aged women work in there, and upkeep the church to a very good standard, I have revived the pews myself with polish and cut the grass outside.

  • went there today to walk dog., felt realy spooky i must admit, saw two black cats , then it hailed stoned, soon as we got back in the car it stopped and sun shined.. lol. strange ...:D

  • Sorry to say i went to Borley a couple of years back, I will NOT go back there again not even if somebody paid me a few million.

My friend Got Hit by a Bottle while walking though the Church yard and there is deffo a Evil presence there.

Even to see the Video I feel cold and very shaken up.

  • What was that on 1:43??

  • I HATE HITLER!

  • I am very interessed in haunting houses,I read about Borley Refectory

in a book (many years ago)

Its a sad story about the nun and the monk...very cruel

Its a pity that this Refectory burned down

    Kind Greetings from Germany

  • @1969Ragnar high hitler lol just kiding

  • This was my very first ghost hunt, back in early 90's, there was around 20 of us in our group and none of us had any cameras, totaly unprepared, inexeperienced and uninformed, we got there to observe nothing :) (we should have done more research before setting out), but we did speak to some of the locals and one local warned us by saying,"oh, i wouldnt go up there, it be haunted up there", we ignored him and proceeded through some trees and bushes which led to a locked gate?, oh well. :)

  • I was gang raped by five spirits in Borley. I have never been able to get over it.

  • As to the actual video... its very interesting to see the site during the present day.

The Rectory itself became known as 'the most haunted house in England' , but the entire area surrounding the property (such as Borley Church) also has manifested phenomena.

For anyone interested, there have been fascinating new discoveries and developments. I'd recommend, in addition to the classic studies of the case, these 3 newer titles: The Enigma of BR; BR:The Final Analysis; and The BR Companion.

  • Very VERY cool clip.

Extremely difficult though it is going to be, I am going to ignore little mr. Stephen's comment, because as far as he goes, I would have no trouble completely destroying him in an argument based on nothing but rational thought and evidence. A sad close minded feeble pseudo-intellectual making a sad attempt to feel superior by shooting his mouth off about something he is completely clueless about. (And I have no doubt he does this on a regular basis).

  • Oh there';s plenty left alright believe me - not the rectory but the ghost's........

  • I have been fascinated by the Borley Rectory for about 30 years and would love to visit the area. I know there's nothing left, but just to stand in the area where it once stood...so incredible.

  • i only live about 10/15 mins away from there lol, i rattled that door on the church lol

  • Mate. What you saw was a bug tit... lol

  • I went there last week!! Very interesting place; it's sort of stuck in the middle of nowhere, in a damp, dark, dirty place, and it takes a very long time to get there, from anywhere.

  • Silly stuff, think rationally, if ghosts are the souls of troubled people with unfinished buisness then there would be hundreds of thosands of them in the UK alone, also by the year 6000AD there would be millions of ghosts everywhere as the worlds population has been growing and humans have been dying for so long, so many dead people, so many ghosts. This is childish.

  • Not as childish as me telling you to go fuck yourself. If you couldn't figure out something called Ghost's, Borley Rectory was about ghosts you are a moron. And if you did figure it out, why watch ?

  • @chasingmidnight not saying im on his side but maybe he didnt believe, and was trying to make himself believe?

  • @chasingmidnight because he's a troll, and just wants to be a jerk.

  • @chasingmidnight the borley rectory is my annsesters old mansion my name is matthew borley and my great great great grandma and grandfather lived here and then all of my ansesters came to canada all atg the same time this is a very interesting

  • you have a good point there.

  • @STEPHENWRAYSFORD33 *shakes head in disbelief* I suppose you call yourself an expert?

  • @STEPHENWRAYSFORD33 it is true what u say.ghost are not humans that died.of what i have learned is that when humans die they dont stay here in earth is what i have heard from people who read the bible.what they r is demons and the bible says that satan comes in the form of angels and well demons come in any form they a=want us to see them.but nope they r not dead humans at all.demons are liars and peoiple get decieved.

  • @STEPHENWRAYSFORD33 you need a ghost to put the willies up you,i think.

  • @STEPHENWRAYSFORD33 My theory is that the spirits and activity fade over time. It is very rare to find ghosts from thousnds of years ago yet it is very common to find ghosts from the past 300 years. Maybe the energy given off when a person dies fades over time until the spirits pass on or the spirits become undetectable as there is not much energy. To be honest though both sides of the argument have no solid proof so believe what you like and so shall I.

  • @STEPHENWRAYSFORD33 The fact that you have never seen a ghost, or even believe in the supernatural, does not mean that it does not exist. I am 47 years old and i have definately seen a ghost on one ocassion.

Some people will never see a ghost due to them having closed minds, and some people see them all the time.

I am sorry that you think others are childish, but I put it to you that you have an arrogant atitude towards others just because your mind is inadequate in this field of facts.

  • it got burnt down wen nobody was around theres story about it somewhere on the web cnt remember where though il post a link if i see it

  • @micivic69 it was said that two figures were running away when it burnt down

  • About half way through this video, when viewing the church windows, an orb can be seen coming from the tracery and moving right then down - can anyone else see it or is it just me?

  • Yes I saw it too! It appears in front of the window at 1.38 moving from the center to the right of the screen, then returns itself and goes back on the left downward; just has it has a will of its own!! Being myself a photographer and considering the technology used in this video, I don't think it can be some sort of reflexion, neither dust, nor any object swept away by the wind. Especialy because of this very particular movement in trajectory. Would be interesting to check the original film...

  • Hi, Please look closely - the orb begins just underneath the eaves and seems to come out of a sort of hole. It is almost directly above the butress and under the gutter.

I was at Borley last week and it was too wet to investigate. Lovely spooky atmosphere - oak tree silhouetted against sky and a flock of cawing crows.

  • I'd love to say I think it's an orb or ghost, but it's quite obviously a bug. Sorry :D

  • i went there last night. My friend got a pic of an orb but nothin much else happened

  • Comment removed

  • 1:41, up right.... maybe an orb?

  • We went on a ghost hunt to Borley.

We didn't see any coaches or ghosts ,

but two of my friends said they saw a cat .

    A fuckin ghost cat ?

  • I would love to go there! It would have been good to see behind those trees...

  • From what I remember theres just a modern house behind the trees, nothing of interest.

  • Is that where the old rectory was though?

  • Yes, thats where is was.

  • hmp!

the borely recotory is demolitied already

    like

    years ago

  • @Massive94 The real Rectory burned down in 1939, but you can still visit the ruins

  • @Massive94 i have been there at night time!! it is so scary!

  • if you live down the road you must be scared!

  • i live down the road from this

  • Comment removed

  • Show some proof of your claims or shut the fu*k up. You sound like your mad at the world because they stopped showing Scooby Doo re runs, I guess you will have to watch something else to pick up investigation tips.

  • My bro did a suckie video on borley rec. and OMG it was so gorgeous!i would hab libed dere if it wasn't Haunted

  • Fuck Me This Place Is REALLY HAUNTED

i'm always up there everything strange happends.. i didnt belive in things like this untill i was up here and all theses serious random but really scarys this were happening

  • Very interesting.

  • what is a borley rectory?

  • Borley is the name of the town and a rectory is where a priest lives!

  • What a beautiful place, shame someone burnt the rectory down, I would of enjoyed seeing it!

  • Somebody burned it down?

Sorry if he said that in the bid but my speakers are rubbish.....

  • The most haunted house in Britain is Borley Rectory in Essex. The rectory actually burned dpwn in 1939 but over 2000 ghosts still haunt the area today.

  • sucks i live in america cuz i'd luv to go there sometime

  • Enjoyed this one. Good presentation plus a dramatic haunting soundtrack. Well done Midnight Man. Thanks. I'll be checking back.

  • Excuse me, but it looks more like something coming from vegetation, of course i do believe in Borley´s haunting and know about what happened to some of England´s King, anyway i´ll check it back, thanks.

  • hey cant beleive nobody has picked up on this yet but at 1.40 check out a small light coming left to right then left i looks to me to an orb, orbs are said to be spirits weird check it out though....................

  • its a green dot laser.

  • going there friday night ... should be fun haha

  • Me and a friend went there probably hundreds of times, we would hang out in the evenings of summer. But there was something so strange that happened on June 20 2008, we were sitting there talking, one moment it was a hot summers evening, the next it was so cold it changed in a matter of seconds. Something felt so wrong, I aint one to be scared, but we never went back or spoke about it since.

  • I have to say the village is lovely, it doesnt have a scary atmosphere, i got chatting to the owners of the former tithe barn who were very friendly. it's a shame that the rectory no longer stands, but the cottage opposite the church was once part of the rectory land, and does resemble the old building. Haunted or not, it was nice to go and see where my favourite ghost story was 'born'. Id hate to think that all the hype over borely was for nothing. however i doubt we'll ever find out...

  • This is a recorded site for unnatural activity, if you visit don't expect just to see haunting activity just like that, it isn't Alton towers. It was burnt down for a reason. There have been many investigations into the activity of that building, recordings made and documents taken that prove some unnatural happenings. At least 2 vicars lived there and there family's and they were run out by unnatural activity. This building has a lot of history to it that contains unexplained mystery's.

  • I have mowed the lawns at that church. If you think that standing on someones grave feels bad try driving over it with a ride on lawnmower :)

  • did you see or feel anything unusual while buzzing around on your lawnmower??

  • pinkingill territory!!

  • Its in Essex, check a map.

  • The whole place is a joke, i live near there so have been many times. It's the unscariest most haunted place ever.

9 times out of 10 you get thrown off by the police

  • It's rare to witness a Ghostly phenomenon. You could revisit that place 5 more times and you still might not see anything. So visiting twice isn't exactly irrefutable evidence that it's not haunted.

  • Very true, I have been to hundreds of haunted places some repeatedly, over the last 20 years and never seen a ghost until 2 months ago. It was in Arizona, U.S.A, the place wasn't known to be haunted and it was 8am in the morning in broad daylight.

  • Exactly. It could be at any moment. Especially considering the phenomenon itself. We're dealing with something we know very little about, so it's less easily predicted via probability.

I've never actually seen a ghost though. I'm jelous. I wish I could see a manifestation. I've had experiences, but nothing too dramatic. Beyond that, no aparitions have been spotted.

  • iv been there twice its a load of rubbish

  • omg this place is well scary we done ot in drama at school and we had to pretend we lived there!

  • the uk and ireland are the most haunted countries per square mile!

  • lol the music adds to the creepiness factor

  • y is it tat so many ppl find the paranormal so intresting !! i personally think its really really scarey !!!!

  • come to Ireland much more spirituality check out leap castle its belived to be the most haunted in europe with hundreds of murders taking place their thank you!

  • i live in ireland !! go me woohhoo

  • I really like how you tell facts of the sites that you visit.. its very nice and very interesting.. another awsome vid. I would love to travel and see all of these places, but cannot so thank you so much for sharing

  • A guy that i work with says there's no such things as ghosts ... So i offered him a bet to stay in a haunted house all night not far from where i live...Then why did he decline ??? I said i'd give him 100 quid, so he doesn't believe in ghosts but is scared to stay on his own alone in a haunted house ???

  • I'll do it. Where are you based?

  • Excellent vid. I've long believed Britain to have older, more exotic hauntings, but I'm convinced the US has more cases. And, BTW, the greatest haunting in the US is not the ones at Mc Pike Mansion or Winchester House. The most phenomenal haunting ever occurred in St. Louis at a house (near Highway 44 at Wilson and Sulphur) that no longer stands.

  • I actually find the hauntings in the U.S more interesting. Maybe it was because I grew up in the U.K, you see one haunted castle you have seen them all. I find the ones connected with the civil war in the U.S particularly interesting. Gettysburg is probably my number one location so far. It was also where I actually had a very rare possible paranormal experience when I stayed at the Farnsworth Inn.

  • You stayed at the Farnsworth? Lucky! Do tell.

  • You should go to Vicksburg, Mississippi National Battlefield. I would also recommend the Audubon Cottages and the old cemetaries like St. Louis Cemetary No. 1.

  • y are the doors to the church perently chained up?

  • To stop ghost hunters and drunk kids getting in. The village has had a lot of problems with sightseers.

  • Aw man I've heard stories about this place! Never been to England so thank you for actually taking me "there"

  • Because it burnt down in 1939, and I wasnt born then.

  • Great piece of film. Never been to Borley, but have read lots about it. Nice to see what Borley village looks like. What year was this filmed?

  • It was filmed in 2004.

  • I have thought about a tripod, but Im mainly into photography. I already have to carry a massive Nikon SLR camera plus a video camera, plus spare batteries, tapes, flashgun etc so its already quite a pain.

  • if you used a tripod, then it would look just like something off the TV, good stuff.
