The Norse mythology teaches us much greater lessons than the bible. The bible is basically a law and warning, the Norse teachings are actually applicable to life.
@HabeKeinMitleid True. The difference between paganism and the Abrahamic religions is that paganism of all sorts thrived off of nature. It promoted keeping your culture and world in check while having a healthy relationship with the Earth. Abrahmic beliefs have tended to be used by people in lots of power like Charlemagne, Kings of France and England, violent expansion of Israeli nation, and Jihadist leaders in the middle east. You can't really say ALL beliefs suck without delving into them.

@wildernesspath1 i know -.- was just making a small joke couse they both concentrate lyrically on Norse. and also Amon Amarth has been around since the late 80s which i think is around the same time Enslaved was formed. not 100% but im sure it was around there
@UTFRG It was Fenris son SkÖll and Hatii who ate the sun and moon and then fenris broke free from his bonds and set forth with his brother Jörmungand and went to eat Odin, and Jörmungand was to kill Thor but was killed by him but not before Jörmungand poisoned him which lead to his death. ahhh Norse mythology ^_^ makes more sense than the Bible :P

BEST. VIKING. METAL. BAND. PERIOD. also fact, Black Metal and Viking Metal were originally closely knit and generally considered the same genre. In fact, Viking Metal developed from Black Metal as another sub-genre. Just look at Bathory.
Fenris is in chains until Ragnarok. The Gleipnir is the strongest chain made out of the sound of a cat's footfall, the beard of a woman, the roots of a mountain, the sinews of a bear, the breath of a fish and the spittle of a bird. Fenris will break them with the power he gets from Loki's earthquake and after he's released he'll hunt the sun and the moon with his sons Hati and Sköll.
@BreakingTheGleipnir actually he will fight and devour odin, then he will get killed by vidar, Hatii will kill mani and skoll will kill Sol, i didn't knew anything about fenrir helping them with that D: am i right?.
@BreakingTheGleipnir True and all, but I think this particular song is actually about Loki himself, as the first line tells us about venom that is dripping and we all know who has a snake above him, right? (:
I listen melodic death metal, mostly Amon Amarth. I that band all instruments are in balance. I'm not saying this is a bad song, cause it isn't, but by just turning the drums down it would have been better. It is not in balance.
But it's kinda diffrent your untrained ear has a problem hearing the guitars when the drums are like that because it's not used to it but I can hear the guitars perfectley.
However Amon Amarth uses less drum(but still kick ass with it) and therefore they are more catchy..
But those who are already used to heavier drums usually need faster, and harder drums like here..
It's only new bands like Gorgoroth and Dimmu Borgir (and the swedish MLO bands like Dissection) that try and do the whole satanist thing. I think there are more satanic lyrics from slayer than there is from most original norwegian black metal. Its just a stereotype. Varg Vikernes said that his church burnings were meant to be commemorative of Norway's pagan/viking past rather than anything satanic. they were meant to commemorate the viking raid on Lindisfarne, which enslaved have a song about
@romcnulty: Idk what "black metal" you've been listening to but when it started out it was almost all about Satan. A lot of bands still do the satanic theme. Also Gorgoroth and Dimmu Borgir certainly aren't new bands. Gorgoroth has been around since '92, Dimmu has been around since '93. As far as I know Dissection and Diabolicum are the only TotBL (not MLO anymore) bands. You need to do some further research into the genre man.
Nah, I got this track from a mate when he did a metal compilation for me and this was on there. This was 4/5 years ago so I was 16/17 at the time? I was getting bored of Slipknot and all that Nu-metal/metalcore shit and I craved for something heavier. So I asked my mate to make me a disk full of heavy/extreme stuff with bands whose names I had heard being thrown around. Blew my mind. I was this Harry Potter lookalike listening to this. Heh heh.

From what I've heard from just about everyone, this is black viking metal (there's also speed and power viking metal, speed sucks). Only got into them a few weeks ago because they were in the related videos section of an Immortal song (love Immortal) and they are great.
This is about Fenris wolf, the giant wolf that the Aesir imprisoned, who is said to break from his chains when Ragnarok comes. Its not about Loki or anyone else.
I've got this album when it came out, and this is one of the best songs, it's called "I lenker til Raknarok" actually, chained until the end of the world.

The drums totally suck in this song, way to prominent, leaving no space for the brilliant guitar work.
And that's what metal is about; the guitars.
