All the dislikes are Paul Simon snobs that wish he could sing like Jim. Paul is a great great songwriter. Perhaps the greatest, but he is not known for vocal ability. Nor does he need to be. He has accomplished so much with his own talent and for writing this song. But this is how Paul would sing the song if he could. I am skeptical when others cover my favorite song, but there are some that are killer and not necessarily as great as the original, but incredible in their own way.
Don't know what all you moaners are talking about. Simon is beautiful at delivering this song but this singer covers some missing aspects of the vocal. Thank you MOG32 who ever you are. Neil UK.
ya, well... one has to consider the context. A live gig in a theatre with a full orchestra - probably for some fundraiser or awards show. That's totally different than a 'concert' or studio gig or solo and the intent and delivery is different to suit that and to suit the artist singing it
Jim Cuddy is incredible and he does this song so much justice! Paul Simon is a great songwriter but the guy is a total tool... I've heard many stories about his "ways". Jim Cuddy you keep on keepin on! BTW Paul Simon is nothing without Art Garfunkel. Simon can't sing for shit compared to Garfunkel and Cuddy
Have you ever listened to another song of S&G than Bridge Over Troubled Water ?? Paul Simon is doing the lead voice of almost every song of the S&G songs plus he wrote all the songs. After the split Paul Simon continued with a brilliant solo career.
Jim Cuddy does a good job on this song but Paul Simon's version is the best, he is the only one who puts the right emotion into the song and sings it great.
@roseofaberdeen C'mon, everyone knows Garfunkel had "the voice" Paul Simon can sing and he's a great writer. I loved Paul's solo career, so many great songs. As for Cuddy, the guy is simply awesome!
@JohnTaupin not in my opinion, I want more from a voice than only reaching the high notes, which Garfunkel cannot deliver anymore. Paul Simon's voice is much more emotive, but hey, music is all about personal taste :)

this is terrible. these guys shouldn't mess with great songs by great singers like paul simon. sure, its melodic but hes got none of simons charisma or emotion on stage. this is the kind of music you hear in lifts isn't it.

I just came from listening to Paul Simon and Ray Charles (diff.videos), and I mus say that this guy is holding the tone absolutely great.
A bit "abuse " on the S-sounds (he he ), and the tenorsax solo is actually played on a s-sax here.(makes it a bit different), but hell, these guys are doing a great job on a difficult song.
I always felt that he was a real talent and could really do well as a solo artist. Beautiful voice with quality tone and great control. Very unique and proud that he is Canadian.
LOL @ someone saying this performance was embarrassing. Give your head a shake, buddy. Jim Cuddy blows most other musicians out of the water, whether he's performing his own songs or someone else's.
halfadrop you have to realize that jim cuddy is usually holding a guitar so his hands dont knwo what to do with themselves when he they have that free time........id like to fill his hands up with my perfect rack.....ok, im done now, hahaha, ill stop being a twat now.

Nice vocals. Stage presence is kind of Joe Cocker in restraints

Thank you :) he sounds kind of country-esque, it's a little over the top...

Well thats kinda how Jim sings.
Thats just his style (as heard with Blue Rodeo). He's not trying to be 'over the top'... thats just the way he sings.

I always thought that song was about the girl being crazy. This version was clear enough that he was talking about himself. Live and learn. Thanks
