CHILDREN NEED BOTH PARENTS! Even after they get divorced. It doesn't matter if PAS isn't recognized in the DSM IV, the fact that parental alienation is wrong is all that matters. Most of the time the parent doing the PAS has a diagnosis thats in the DSM IV, such as Borderline Personality and/or narcissim.

However, we all know that PA (not the S ) is real, and very common in family litigation. With the majority of resident parents being mothers, it is easy to see why mother in the main want claims of PA to be discredited as they see the father in a dim light for whatever reasons. continued on next comments...
PA can be a very valid claim by a non-resident parent, and it is right to have formal ways to challenge and investigate such claims. It is sad that fathers groups strongly support PAS, and mothers groups strongly oppose PAS. This is more to do with gender stereotypes and who needs PAS and who abuses claims of PAS. We should all drop the Syndrome label and call it PA. PA is real, treatable and also can be abused by either parent in a litigation battle.
Ideally mothers and fathers would recognise PA as a real symptom of family litigation and also be fully aware of how it can be abused, countered and justified. The courts duty is to be able to differentiate between real issues and those, which are purely malicious or formed through bad handling of the adult issues in the childrens presence.
Either way, there has to be real reform to address this real issue.

CHILDREN NEED BOTH PARENTS! Even after they get divorced. It doesn't matter if PAS isn't recognized in the DSM IV, the fact that parental alienation is wrong is all that matters. Most of the time the parent doing the PAS has a diagnosis thats in the DSM IV, such as Borderline Personality and/or narcissim.

This vid tells of some good and valid points for attacking claims of PAS when real abuse has occurred, and rightly so. However, we all know that PA (not the S ) is real, and very common in family litigation. With the majority of resident parents being mothers, it is easy to see why mother in the main want claims of PA to be discredited as they see the father in a dim light for whatever reasons. continued on next comments...

PA can be a very valid claim by a non-resident parent, and it is right to have formal ways to challenge and investigate such claims. It is sad that fathers groups strongly support PAS, and mothers groups strongly oppose PAS. This is more to do with gender stereotypes and who needs PAS and who abuses claims of PAS. We should all drop the Syndrome label and call it PA. PA is real, treatable and also can be abused by either parent in a litigation battle.

Ideally mothers and fathers would recognise PA as a real symptom of family litigation and also be fully aware of how it can be abused, countered and justified. The courts duty is to be able to differentiate between real issues and those, which are purely malicious or formed through bad handling of the adult issues in the childrens presence.
Either way, there has to be real reform to address this real issue.

He cut throu the restraining order like it wuz butter and the court let him continue his abuse,stalking,happassment So he could abduct my children. He came and took them right out of school, the police help'd him! I wuz never even married 2 him!
