  • essa luta foi tão zik a ponto de o eduardo telles nem ter conseguido fazer sua guarda tartaruga...

  • I would have almost been sitting next to the guy filming, when I saw Ian walk up to the mat I didn't rate him, had never heard of him. After watching this fight I was very impressed with Ian, seems like a humble guy who flys under the radar, definitely one to watch in the future!!

  • Not taking away anything from Ian. Ian did great.

He even got Omoplata on Eduardo, but as you can see eduardo wasnt really afraid of getting submitted and just cartwheeled out of it.

Eduardo let's his opponents do too much and has to fight from behind. While people like Garcia, Jacare, Popovitch have so tight game that they are hardly defending. While Eduardo's game is all about defence and using the momentum for your advantage.

  • Eduardo was clearly better.. The corner guys didnt even know what was going on.

Just giving advices that dont matter..

Eduardo Telles had it in total control. The great thing about telles is that he is letting his opponent do the mistakes and he capitalizes on them.

  • @baelthedemon While Eduardo did indeed win, Ian wasn't exactly making a lot of mistakes. Ian was by no means outclassed in this matchup which bodes well for his future at the top of the sport.

  • @Kintanon I might have come out rude. Not my intention.

What I was referring was at 5:44 -- that position is favourable for telles. There is no choke, not sure from the video, but if there is a choke he is not able to do. The only way to get into side is to jump over and Ian's corner men are giving him wrong advices. "keep going" meaning for that direction is not plausible as it is seen in 7:18 where Ian is going too much for that direction that the cornerman is shouting.

  • To clarify, The grip eduardo is holding is not that important. What is important that eduardo keeps his elbow over the body of Ian, so Ian cant jump to right side. We can clearly see that Ian understands this in the fight and tries but is unable to do so because Eduardo just keeps his hand up. Shouting "he doesnt have the grip, keep going" doesnt really matter because grip was not the issue. It's actually very good position for eduardo because the follow up position is favourable for Eduardo.

  • I have never trained or met Eduardo, but I have to say I've watched every video I get my hands about him. I emulate his style to mine.

His DVD' s are one of the best BJJ dvd's in the world. Nothing comes close. First 15 mins are so much information that it overflows your brain.

Eduardo hardly uses any strength even thou he is competing in mundials. He plays the same game he plays when rolling, and that's because he has almost perfect jiujitsu.

  • Most people use force and explosiveness, Telles hardly does at all, and that's why he is unable to get submissions or pass the guard fully. If you watch this fight you see Telles being close of passing many times but Ian is able to turtle out and recover. This is because Eduardo doesnt grapple like Jacare or Popovitch. Even marcelo garcias style needs some fastness and explosiveness, Eduardos style doesnt.

  • @baelthedemon that's why i love his style too, it's much like a sloth slowly but surely moving in accordance to what is preferable at the time - It shows great composure to get caught in difficult positions and then use technique to stay calm and re-position oneself.

  • @baelthedemon The cornermen never give great advice. One of my opponents got put completely out because his corner kept telling he was safe and that I didn't have the choke. The were still yelling that AFTER he was out too.... Ian was always a half step behind Eduardo, but it was ONLY a half step. If they rematched 10 times I think Ian could win 4 of them.

  • @baelthedemon I agree...with the first part....telles is also a legend while ian is a more recent black belt...great fight though thanks for uploading

  • Awesome roll. It looked very even, but every sub-sweep attempt from Ian ended with Telles getting another advantage also.

  • Ian did a great job. Telles was phenomenal as always. Telles is one of my favorite fighters thanks for the upload.

  • good roll

  • Cool video. Telles is one of my idols. McPherson did well.
