He's being a little bit dramatic. Freshwater crocs have only ever recorded one attack on someone and that was a tourist that swam over one and he didn't even require stitches. He didn't need all that panic and drama, you go to Kununurra and they are sometimes in resort swimming pools! Even at billabongs they don't bother swimmers.

But I guess sitting at a computer over in the US you'd know more.... Freshwater crocs are common and so long as you don't bother them or get close to a nest they don't even look twice, people swim in the same billabongs without any hesitation other then maybe keeping an eye out to not get close. Saltwater crocs though are dangerous don't go near their waters.

When I lived and worked in Kununurra if someone made such a deal over freashwater crocs as Bear is now they would be ruthlessly belittled.
