From the user swinginonastar: "This is not a real swing move and when you see something like this happening it's usually pegged with the beginners dancing East Coast. In addition to looking silly and awkward there is no actual dancing going on when you this and it's VERY easy to injure your follows' arms when you're pulling and tugging at them from behind your back. If you do this on the social dance floor, don't expect anyone who knows to dance to dance with you.
The man is following, even though the lady is doing the talking. You can tell because he backrocks on his left foot at the beginning. (Plus since he is the man, it makes sense...)
Overall it is a nice move. You definitely can teach it to a beginner, but would have to break it down more.
If you are going to show this to a beginner dancer, just dancing it on video is not enough. Not to mention, beginners can hurt their partner or themselves when they don't know what they are doing.
It's swing, just best not to use in lindy hop. Generally you see pretzel's (multiple types) more in east coast while lindy has more fluid movements. It is easy to lose the beat with pretzel.
thats soo awesome!! .. i know id get tangled up a few times tho :D

I LOVE this dance move!! It took me a few tries to get it right but for learning dance moves on the spot I did a decent job at leading my partner. :)

Unfortunately, this is not swing dancing. The pretzel actually comes from Salsa, and wasn't done during the swing era.

@portlanddancesport The man is leading. The lead rocksteps on the left foot and the follow does it on the right.
