I'll tell you what, I own this guitar, as well as a Seagull S6... I've gotta say, they sound soooo good that they hang right there with my higher end Gibson Hummingbird, Gibson J-45, Gibson Advanced Jumbo, Taylor GA4, Breedlove OM/SReh, Larrivee P-09, etc.... NO JOKE. The guitar in THIS VIDEO sounds as good if not better than 2k, 3k, and 4k dollar guitars.... For 700 bucks, this guitar is a STEAL. The Seagull S6 is also one of the best guitars for the money. $350 and it sounds incredible!!!
My Dad is a Taylor die hard, made him try a $600 Seagull 12 string back to back against of one his precious $3k Taylor 12 strings, both in tune, he strummed the Taylor AFTER, and said...."Yuck." I have a one off Seagull in a never repeated color/wood combo, people hear it and think I spent a fortune for a Seagull "Custom Shop" lol...I tell them, nope, its just a Seagull. These guitars will fool you, don't be misled by the price. These will be sought after one day.
I just bought this a couple of hours back! Loving it! Particularly amazing for fingerstyle so if you're into guys like Andy Mckee, Peppino D'Agostino, Craig D'Andrea, Don Ross etc etc and are on a budget..this guitar is the way to go!
Also the Quantum I pickup, though not the best in the market, is a good add! It sounds really great! :)
i bought it because of this video. nice guitar, smaller than i thought, fantastic feeling , thick neck and has all, that a fingerpicker would ever demand-. thx for that nice review. i bought it for 639 €.
@kotedo Hey K - The sound of Doug playing has me coming back to this video again and again - Do you feel the "full rich" sound is there? I know some of the impressive sound has to do with being in DADGAD tuning - Now that you have had the instrument for a while what do you think? Beside this guitar I am considering a Blueridge BR-73AS (OOO style not mini-jumbo) - do you dislike anything about the guitar?
@p796 I have one -- I use Rotosound Super Bronze 10s - contact core (in the pink box). They sound really good and because the wrapped strings are not covered at the bridge it enhaces the action, which is already good. Godin strings are good too!
@p796 well, yamaha makes great instruments, but the cpx/apx series are mostly designed to be played through a PA or acoustic amp, to get the piezo-ey sound, and I don't believe the apx series features solid back and sides, but don't quote me. The seagull would be geared more toward the natural acoustic tone, this model more so for fingerstyle players.
sounds really good. funny thing though, very few guitar players seen to care about the fact that laying one's bare forearm across the sounboard of their instrument, affects significantly its free vibration and therefore its sound.
Great to hear relevant descriptions followed by two superb demonstrations. Wish I'd known about this guitar and its wider nut before I bought my Faith full-sized jumbo (which is great - but I would really like that wider neck).
Great job, very well recorded audio and video. It realy shows how the guitar sounds. I don't realy like the satin neck too, it's not very cool when your hands get sweaty. Very great video overall :)
This is a very well done video. It gives you a very good sense of how the guitar sounds. Nice playing and nice audio. I wish all demos were as well recoreded.
Doug, I'm so glad you pointed out the easy playing finger style features. Even though I'm a singer song writer, I have week hands and have been looking for something with a short scale, wide spacing and sweet, balanced sound. I really appreciate your sharing your impressions here on YouTube. Thanks.

@borrowmeadolla
Lots of people buy Taylors because of the name; and many of them are terrible.
LOWDEN is the best. There's a reason Bensusan plays them so much (off and on for 30 years).

question. between the mini jumbo body and the dread body which one produces a deeper bass?
rick375 1 year ago
@rick375 2. i also like the way it sounds when strummed, not as excessibly big as my Guild j-55 but nontheless very much up to the task.
I hope i have helped with my description.

I've got one of these, and it's the best acoustic I've ever played. I definitely recommend it, it's got a pretty good price for the quality too.
