I have a friend that served 4yrs in army front lines in gulf war since he speaks the language he was shot 4 times and his best friend sure in his arms. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and afraid he's gonna leave his family behind cause the hospital sd there's nothing they can do for him he needs a specialist. I'm a former US Army tank commander during the first Gulf War. I think Americans are brainwashed into thinking a socialist healthcare system is bad. What is more important than your health, so if we must have one socialist organization why not the healthcare system? Of doctors who have served in both Canadian and American systems, they favor the Canadian system; and Canadians serve ALL of their citizens without the insane HMO bureaucracy at HALF the cost.
I just wonder how many Americans have seen the government as a group of rich people who use the average working American as nothing more than a slave in the field to enrich those in the big house. Amazing how much money is taken from Americans to enrich others while they themselves lose their jobs, healthcare and homes. Ive worked in a few countries including the US and France, and to me the shocker in going from the US to France was working conditions (in addition to services). You work and have time to spend with your family and enjoy life.
People should also checkout the PBS Frontline report entitled 'can you afford to retire?'. I think policies in the US are manouvering the ship to go back to pre-new deal area so corporations dont have to move to malasia to get servile cheap labor.

Everyone: I just wrote a letter to my congressman, urging him to improve our health system, and I haven't lived in the US for 4 years (though still a US citizen). If I can do something, so can you. If you walk out of Sicko hoping that you'll get better health care, but then do nothing, then you will have wasted the momentum created by this film. We must act now if we want change!

Ive worked in a few countries including the US and France, and to me the shocker in going from the US to France was working conditions (in addition to services). You work and have time to spend with your family and enjoy life.
People should also checkout the PBS Frontline report entitled 'can you afford to retire?'. I think policies in the US are manouvering the ship to go back to pre-new deal area so corporations dont have to move to malasia to get servile cheap labor.

A lot of supporters of universal healthcare have rather simple-minded analyses. But I still agree with them. According to an article on wikipedia about "Healthcare", Afghanistan and Iraq have universal healthcare that is funded by the U.S. Very ironic. The federal government pays for the universal coverage for two other countries but not its own.

Everyone: I just wrote a letter to my congressman, urging him to improve our health system, and I haven't lived in the US for 4 years (though still a US citizen). If I can do something, so can you. If you walk out of Sicko hoping that you'll get better health care, but then do nothing, then you will have wasted the momentum created by this film. We must act now if we want change!

Universal health care will not be given to us without serious effort, as the HMO industry will fight it tooth and nail. Ask yourself how did slavery end? How did we get labor laws? How did women get the right to vote? All came through organized action - they were not gifts. Together, we can do it. I'm gonna start writing letters to whomever I can.
