  • Great help but can you show where both springs should be located at the back of the bracket please. One on my engine is as shown on your vidio but the other above it seems too loose to do much good

  • @IFIXIT4U great vid, thanks. Can you show how to reconnect the throttle to the governor? I took mine apart to get the carb cleaned and am not sure how to get it back together. Thanks,

  • can you blew the engine up with with full throttle like this

  • good video , cheers

  • good job.

  • Great info, thanks for taking the time to show us.

  • I have the same engine, Platinum 18.5HOHV V-twin with the turbo cooling etc, I need to remove the governor any ideas?

  • this guy is great the briggs book tells you the exact opposite and the book is WRONG this vidio saved me a trip to the repair site Thank YOU

  • Got rid of the v twin and got a 15 kohler. Nice and clean now. Thx

  • Awesome video, this is exactly what I needed to see

  • My v twin smokes up a storm. Runs ok though. What to do?

  • @Piezonno You may have some water in the gas, making what looks like smoke but is steam. Its also likely that your rings on your piston are worn, or your cylinder is scored(scratched) wich lets oil by.

  • great video, i have what appears same engine. (briggs 16 hp v twin) I tried per your instructions but high idle persists. I think governor springs have been altered. Any way you can post pics on spring layout/setup. I have searched and all i can find is part pics from suppliers but no pics of springs attached. I could only see 1 spring on your video. t.y. bob pgh. pa "go steelers"

  • Thanks for making a really nice video on governor adjustment. I have a Kawasaki 19 HP that is a basket case that was supposed to have governor problems. This video will help me sort out this issue.

  • very nice vids man

  • Hi I would like to say from a point of view of a former business owner myself that your video's are very informative and correct! I use to fix customers small engine problems right at their front door with my mobile unit. When I would pull up some people where expecting some neighborhood kid to do the repairs. The greatest satisfaction is seeing there faces once the repair was done ,Because I would always let the customer have the first chance to start there equipment.

  • I like the video since I have to do some work on my Craftsman LT 1000 lawn tractor. I am going to take the carb off and soak it in carb cleaner overnight then put it back on. The engine is a Briggs & Stratton and worked fine before diesel was put in it. My push mower is a Murray with a Briggs & Stratton engine also and is leaking fuel and I have to work on it next. Fuel pours out of it even though the engine runs, and the mower hasn't been run over 20 hours before doing this.

  • @Vid

    Good vid.

But what would be the point of adjusting the governor?

  • The governor can be out of adjustment due to wear, vibration, time and tampering. Symtoms would be not taking a load very well, lugging down when blades engaged and only idle or wide open.

  • @IFIXIT4U

    Thank you for explaining that.
